SCIENCE ACTIVITY FOR WEEK OF APRIL 27, 2020Weather Predictions vs Actual Temperatures

Students will need: Paper, Pencil, Crayons or markersTelevision

Learning Objective:SWBAT: Record and graph daily temperatures predictions they make (high and low)

for 7 days, then record and graph actual daily temperatures (high and low) for 7 days and compare/contrast (alike/different) the two.

Discussion:  Ask student if she/he can verbally state what it means to compare

things/items?  Ask student if she/he can verbally state what it means to contrast

things/items?  Ask student if she/he can verbally state what the term

“temperature” means and refers to?

Students will watch a news broadcast of his/her choice to view the weather segment. Prior to viewing, students will make his/her forecast/weather prediction for each day (Monday through Sunday) and record that on a sheet of paper labeling each day and date (i.e. Monday, April 27, 2020 P=49 degrees low P= 61 degrees high). Students will listen/watch for the daily forecast to record the actual temperature for the day (i.e. A=58 degrees low A=63 degrees high) and record on his/her paper.

Students will then compare or contrast their predictions with the actual temperature for each day.
