This pretty site of pilgrimage is a church of St. Coloman, which lies in the center of Schwangau meadows in Germany. This church takes its name after the Irish pilgrim, who is said to have grazed his cattle and taken rest in this area while travelling to the Holy Land. This person, St. Coloman, is now honored for the horses and horned cattle as a patron saint. However, it is believed that Coloman was mistaken to be the spy in his other travels and also tortured for it. He was hung near Vienna, at Stock-erau. Many of the people have reported that miracles occurred at his grave that made the Australians realize him to be indeed a holy man, therefore, named as a patron saint afterward.
SUNDAY READINGS
Acts 8:5-8, 14-17
1 Peter 3: 15-18
John 14: 15-21 (55)
Sixth Sunday of Easter, Year A. 2020
One afternoon a mother was preparing dinner in the room. It was necessary to cover the table, spread out plates, cutlery, and glasses. Her 10-
year-old son came into the same room. He was overjoyed, smiling and holding a piece of paper in his hand. He gave this card to his mother.
Mom stood for a moment and began to read a message from her son. Her son wrote on a piece of paper;
- baby-sitting of my younger brother $10
- for cleaning my room $5
- for taking out the garbage $10
- for walking the dog $5
- for help in the kitchen $5
The total is $35 summed up the boy on a piece of paper. The mother looked at him, put a pen in her hand and wrote on the back of the page;
- for birth you $0
- daily care of you $0
- tears and sleepless nights $0
- for school sandwiches, lunches, and dinners $0
-for putting you to bed every evening $0
-for love and the love I will have for you for the rest of my life $0
His mother summed up the bill and it turned out to be $0. She looked at her son and she gave him back this paper. The boy quickly began to
read. Tears started flowing from his eyes. When he finished reading he took a pen, turned the page over and crossed out $35 and wrote - it was
paid. Then one hug and kiss to his beloved mother.
There are things that I can't buy or pay for. Do you know what these things are? Do you know where to look for them? Because maybe we of-
ten look for them far away, maybe we even think that it is unreachable. But they are right next to me, within my reach! “If you love me, you
will keep my commandments”, says Jesus. He goes on to say that this person will be loved by my Father, and the Holy Spirit will be given to
you. We often think about God and His commandments. We calculate how much it costs us. What sacrifices must occur so that I can keep
them! How many things do I have to give up! In this way we look at God's path, not realizing that God gives me His commandments to make
me happy and keep me from failures and falls. How often we receive blessings, gifts, favors, and providence from God. Does God write a bill
for us for what we have received? Am I able to pay for salvation, death and resurrection? How do I imagine paying God? God is different. He
takes the card and speaks; you owe me 0. Let this Sunday be a reflection on the gifts we receive from God as well as from our loved ones; fa-
thers, mothers, brothers and grandparents. Let us always be grateful for all the good, because by receiving this good, someone would want us to
become better and richer here on earth, and finally, to open the door to eternal joy and happiness.

write a homily.
“How do you know what to say?” She asked her dad.
“Why, God tells me.”
“Then why do you keep crossing things out?”

Let’s Pray Together
May is the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A beautiful way
to honor our Blessed Mother during the month of May is to pray
a decade of the Rosary each day as a family. This takes less than
10 minutes and consists of praying one Our Father, ten Hail
Mary’s and one Glory Be while pondering an event of Jesus’
and Mary’s life that has a connection to your own life. For a
simple, downloadable Prayer Card, go to diolc.org/prayer for
families; or go to diolc.org/deeper for individual adults or empty
nesters. Another way to honor Mary is to have a “May Altar”
which consists of a statue of Mary (any size) with flowers. This
May Altar provides a reminder of our devotion to Mary
Pentecost Novena Dates: The Pentecost Novena will be prayed
from Friday, May 22 to Saturday, May 30. Sunday, May 31, is
the Feast of Pentecost. The simple Novena Prayer Card and
short reading for each of the nine days can be downloaded here:
diolc.org/deeper.
Is your marriage in need

The secret of happiness is to live
moment by moment and to thank
god for all that He, in His
goodness, sends to us
day after day.
