PRAYER BEFORE WORK
Before we begin our work, we turn to you, O Lord. For
it is your work that we do, the work of your Gospel. We
know this but we often lose sight of it. We begin to rely
on our own efforts only. Or we lose sight of the vision and get absorbed in the details.
And so today, we bring to our work a lively sense that
you, Lord, are the ground and the goal, the inspiration
of all we do. In this awareness may we do our work
lovingly. In this awareness may we do this work
joyfully.
May we be not too quick with our judgments, our
agenda, our interpretations. May we pause patiently,
to open up to your wisdom, to see with your eyes. And
may we be not too absorbed in our tasks that we forget
our co-workers and those for whom we struggle. May
the way in which we carry out our work make for healing and reassurance for all.
The staff of Saint Katharine Drexel Parish strive daily to fulfill the daily spiritual and business needs of our parishioners and visitors. The professionalism and care for others provided by our Staff is evident each day. We could not, however, accomplish our duties without the support of our Committees and Volunteers. The Maintenance Committee provides expertise in areas regarding physical plant and policy (safety features of our building, providing a safe environment for our parishioners.) Many things happened this summer at Saint Katharine Drexel. It began with The Little Dig Project and ended with the beautiful landscaping. In between we “rediscovered” our septic system sand mound and sewer pump. These projects were designed and completed with the constant input and assistance from the Maintenance Committee Members. As Parish Manager, I am very grateful for their help. With projects, comes financing. What an amazing group of people on our Finance Committee. Their support, knowledge, and patience have helped me personally these past four years in my position as Parish Manager. I am responsible for the day to day finance aspects of Parish life—processing income, payment of invoices, Human Resources, renewing of contracts, and anything else that comes down the pike. I could not do this without the support of our numerous volunteers. Thank you to the Money Counters—they are teams of three who rotate weekly in order that Sunday collections can be counted, verified, and deposited in the bank! Also huge support is given to our Parish from all the organizations that “host” Coffee and Donuts on a weekly basis. They pick up the donuts, host the event after Mass on Sundays, and make sure the area is left spic ‘n span when they leave. Thanks to Joe K. and Joe M. who order the drinks and donuts and ensure the supplies are kept well-stocked. As you can see, it takes many, many hands to keep our Parish running smoothly. We at Saint Katharine Drexel are so very blessed to have the support and care of such good people.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers. Jodi Bova, Parish Manager
The Saint Katharine Drexel Parish Family, guided by the Holy Spirit, commits itself to reaching out and sharing with all people the love and service modeled by our patroness, with the Eucharist as our source of strength. Through prayer and action, we will serve God, our Lord and Savior, and our community, exhibiting a special concern for the poor, oppressed and marginalized of our society, especially those among the African-American & Native-American peoples.
