THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

ST. JUDE’S FOOD PANTRY St. Jude’s Food Pantry serves the needs of all residents of Londonderry without regard to religious affiliation. We are completely confidential and here for everyone in the Londonderry community. We meet with families individually, by appointment.

If you are in need of assistance, please call Kay or Dick Doyle at 434-1827.

Please pray for the soul of Kimberly Corriveau whose Funeral Mass was celebrated on October 26th at St. Jude Parish. May God grant her eternal rest and may our prayers and support comfort her family.

A GREAT AND GLORIOUS GOD Our readings today ponder two powerful truths: God is infinitely greater than we are; and God provides every kind of help so we can discover and share in God’s glory. The reading from Wisdom reminds us that we are tiny compared to “the LORD of the whole universe.” Nevertheless, God preserves and nurtures us out of perfect love. If we feel tiny, weak, and sinful compared to God, we are blessed! God’s greatness sustains and strengthens us. Saint Paul encourages the Thessalonian Christians with the same message. He reminds them that God alone makes the Church holy. He prays that everything they undertake will be for the glory of God. Luke’s Gospel shows us what this looks like in real life: Zacchaeus, feeling small and excluded, looks for Jesus. Jesus finds him and gives him the strength he needs to repent of his sins and glorify God. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

OUR TRADITION FOR THE MONTH OF

NOVEMBER

During the month of November each year, the Church prays in a special

way for those who have died by honoring the saints of the Church on November 1st and All Souls on November 2nd. This month, we encourage all parishioners to bring pictures of deceased loved ones to Church and place them on the window sills around the interior of the Church. This will be one of the ways in which we will honor and pray for the dead throughout the month of November. The pictures will remain in the Church as a reminder to us that we are all part of the Communion of Saints, both here on earth and in the heavenly kingdom. You may take the pictures back home with you the week of November 24th before the season of Advent begins.

R.C.I.A. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) is a process to welcome new people into the Roman Catholic Church. It is a faith journey for all those who are not Catholic who feel that they are being called by the Lord to become a member of the Roman Catholic Church. For more information about R.C.I.A., please contact Diane Swinarski (425-1795) or Mary Carrigan (722-5586).

MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP NEWS

Next Meeting for Middle School Youth Group:

Friday, November 15th 7:00PM-9:00PM in the Parish Hall

Come, and bring your friends too! Fun for all 5th to 8th grade students.

Parents of Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade youth are asked to work on their prayers at home. The first prayer to start with is The Sign of the Cross, which is best practiced in front of a large mirror. One tip for practicing - If you have a mirror which hangs over the door have your child stand in front of you (facing the mirror) and you both practice. Parents are asked to help youth memorize the prayers below:

The Sign of the Cross The Our Father/Lord’s Prayer

The Hail Mary and The Glory Be

TO PARENTS AND YOUTH

If a youth is too sick to go to school, that youth is too sick to come to Faith Formation classes, as we follow the same

guidelines as the Londonderry school system.

The classrooms have a variety of hand sanitizers as well as Kleenex, but the best protection for everyone is washing your

hands.

Those who might like to donate hand sanitizers and/or Kleenex for the year are welcome to do so.

Items may be dropped off in the Parish Hall or brought to Trish's office.

ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED We are in need of Altar servers for our weekend Masses. We welcome children and adults. Please note that children need to have received First Communion and have Fr. Bob’s approval.

Call Andrea Michali at 247-9367 for training if you are interested.

THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

PARISH OUTREACH MINISTRY

The goal of the Parish Outreach Ministry is to strengthen our parish community by connecting to those in need. There are members of our parish family who are homebound or do not drive at night, but would love to attend Mass, receive Communion, or attend special parish events or adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Some would just love a friendly visit, or might need help with a simple household chore or a ride to the grocery store. We want to bring them back into our parish life. Volunteers can assist on a one-time basis, or as often as they like. If you or someone you know would benefit from this program, or if you would like to be a volunteer, please contact Lisa Laurence at [email protected] or 548-5130.

NH CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK AT ST. THOMAS AQUINAS - NOVEMBER 4-8, 2019

NH and all of New England began last year to have two Catholic Schools Week - one in November and one the last week of January. The one in November highlights all our Catholic Schools throughout the state. We celebrate who we are as a mission of the Church and this year our theme is, “Discover the Difference: Discover NH Catholic Schools!” This theme focuses on the true difference Catholic schools make in the lives of students and families through “Academics that Enlighten; Faith that Inspires and Community that Strengthens.” The weeks’ highlights focus on a theme:

Sunday—Celebrating STA—OPEN HOUSE Monday—Celebrating Our Community Tuesday—Committed to Affordability

Wednesday—Vibrant and Welcoming to All Thursday—Transformative Environment; Innovative Students

Friday—Commitment to Personal Success

We will begin our week with Open House, Sunday, November 3, 2019 with Coffee and Donuts immediately following the 10:30AM Mass until 1:00PM at St. Thomas Aquinas (3 Moody Street, Derry). All are welcome to come, visit and learn about the treasure of St. Thomas Aquinas School.

BOOK CLUB The selection for the next book club meeting is “Selling Water by the River” by Shane Hipps. Book Club will meet in Deacon Marc’s office on Wednesday, November 13th at 6:00PM.

Here is a little taste of what you might expect in your read: Work, sex, ice cream, religion - they all promise fulfillment. But what they deliver is fleeting. Jesus came to show us that peace is possible in this life, not just the next one. Yet Christianity, the very religion that claims Jesus as its own, has often built the biggest barriers to him and the life he promised. Celebrated speaker and pastor Shane Hipps revives the faith with a fresh and persuasive understanding of the message of Jesus. The shocking truth is that Jesus proclaimed "eternal life" as a present reality that dwells within each of us.

Please join us for our next meeting!

ST. JUDE SENIORS MEETING St. Jude Seniors will hold their next meeting on Monday, November 4th at 9:00AM at Janie’s Uncommon Café (123 Nashua Rd, Londonderry). If you have questions, please call Sylvia Bailey at 867-2402.
