Introduction to the Liturgy of the Day Our loving God has called us together today to hear and respond to the Good News that Jesus Christ came to serve and to give his life
as a ransom for many. What today’s celebration also makes clear is that if we are to follow Jesus, we too must learn to serve without expectation of reward. As we prepare for our celebration, let us pray that we will continue to be formed as true Christian servants.

TODAY IS THE TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
A Family Perspective—”Advise” books abound on marriage and parenting. Jesus tells us in today’s gospel the real secret: satisfying relationships depend on how well we sacrifice our needs to serve others. It is not about “getting,” it’s about “giving” ourselves. If you feel like you are a
servant to your children and spouse, then you are doing it right! ~Bud Ozar

All Soul’s Day—November 2nd
Traditionally, the month of November has been dedicated to prayer for the happy
and peaceful repose of the souls of the faithful departed. All Souls’ Day, November 2
nd, has been set aside in
particular to commemorate our deceased relatives and friends. Our Catholic faith calls us to pray on behalf of those who have gone before us in death. How good it is to remember before the Lord at Mass, the souls of those dear to us who have died. This is true on All Souls’ Day and throughout the year. An All Souls’ Remembrance envelope has been included in your envelope packet; others are available at the entrances to the Church. Kindly return them to Church in any collection before November 2
nd. Our
dearly departed will be remembered at our parish on All Souls’ Day and throughout the month of November. “Remember those who have gone before us…”
Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed—Monday, November 2
nd marks
the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 AM. During this month of November, we are
called to remember in a special way all those who have died. On Sunday, November 1
st and through the end of
November, a “Book of the Names of the Dead”, will be available near the baptismal font so the names of the deceased family members and friends may be recorded. These individuals (those recorded in years past along with the new names added this year) will be remembered before the Lord during November.

A Farewell for Father Michael Ruminski
As announced, Father Ruminski and I have been informed by Archbishop Leonard Blair of his decision to transfer Father Ruminski from his role as Parochial Vicar at Saint Gabriel and Saint Joseph Parishes to serve as Parochial Vicar at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph Parish, Hartford. Though his time with us has been brief, we are grateful for his ministry and presence since his ordination. In particular, Father’s presence to the students, parents, and faculty at Saint Gabriel School has been most appreciated and beneficial.
Come and extend best wishes to Father Ruminski as he assumes his new assignment. A special coffee hour will be held today after the 9:15 AM Mass. Please plan on stopping by!

A Student’s Prayer
Loving Father, I stand before You in the midst of confusion and
complexities of life. My future sometimes seems distant and unknown.
Give me, O Lord, the vision to see the path You set before me. Grant me the courage to follow Your way, that through the gifts and talents You have given me, I may bring
Your lifeand Your love to others. I ask this through Jesus, Your Son and my Brother.
Amen
