Dear Parishioners,

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. We hear in today’s Gospel,

“This is my body, and this is my blood.” One of the saints said that to receive Holy Communion just

one time was enough to make a person a saint, because it is Jesus Christ whom we receive. How

simple and humble are the Body and Blood of Christ, but how special, beautiful, and powerful this

great gift is. St. Padre Pio said that he spent half of each day preparing to receive Jesus in the

Eucharist for the following day. Throughout the other half of the day, he was thanking God for the

gift of receiving the Eucharist earlier that morning. The more we receive the Eucharist, the more we

become like Christ. May we give God praise and adoration in the great gift of the Most Holy

Eucharist!

God bless you!

Deacon Informational Meeting

Do you think that God is calling you to commit to doing more

for your church and community? Are you a man between 35

and 60? If so, and you are Catholic in full communion with the

Church, with no more than one prior marriage, you may want

to learn more about becoming a deacon. Some of the ways

deacons serve are to perform baptisms, marriages and funeral

services; assist at Mass and preach; plan liturgical celebrations

and teach RCIA. Deacons visit the sick, the hospitalized and

dying; they serve in the prison ministry, and in the social

services ministries (e.g., homeless, or those with addiction.)

Some deacons work in parish administration. The Office of the Permanent Diaconate is accepting applica-

tions for the next diaconate formation class which will begin

September 2019. Applications will be accepted until

September 30, 2018. All application materials are available on

the Diocese of Savannah web site, under the link for the

Permanent Diaconate office.

http://diosav.org/permanent-diaconate-Formation An informational meeting for those who may be interested

(and their wives) or have questions will be held at St. Joseph

Catholic Church in Macon on June 4th at 7:00 P.M. in the

social hall. You may also contact Deacon Don Coates (deacondon@st-

joseph.cc) or Deacon Tom Eden ([email protected]) if

you have questions.

Mass Intentions Due to the changes in Sunday Mass times on the weekends, this will affect some of your requested Mass Intentions. We ask for your patience so that we can effectively honor all requests and make all needed changes.

Renewal of Wedding Vows

The Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring Wedding Vows

Renewal following the 11:00AM Mass on June 17th. All mar-

ried couples are invited to attend. Following the renewal there

will be refreshments in the Knights Hall. For additional infor-

mation contact Rowdy Yates at 478-471-7857.

A renewal vow is a way to celebrate your marriage. Perhaps

you’ve made it to 2, 5, 10, 25 or 50 years together and you

want the world to know you would do it all over again. Or you

want to reaffirm your commitment to each other after a trou-

bling time in your relationship. What ever the reason you and

your spouse will feel renewed.

New Weekend Mass Times Reminder that the new Mass schedule, for the summer

months is Saturday, 4:30PM Sunday, 8:30AM, 11:00AM and

5:ooPM.

The Sign Of The Cross Each time we make the sign of the Cross, we remember the

mystery of the Most Holy Trinity.

In the name of the Father: w e put our hands on our

foreheads, pointing to the brain that controls our whole body,

remembering that God is the source of life. And of the Son: w e place the hand betw een the chest

and the abdomen near the heart, remembering that for love of

us Jesus Christ incarnated, died and resurrected to free us

from sin. And of the Holy Spirit: w e place the hand on the left

shoulder and then on the right; remembering that it helps us

to carry the weight of our life and at the same time it

enlightens us.

Around the Deanery and the Diocese

International Exchange Students

Opportunities to host an international exchange student in

your home continue and grow, as we expand our offerings and

involvement with international students. The rewards are

great and the opportunities for you to become involved are

here again as students join our community. Host families offer

a safe and comfortable place for the student to live and study,

and offer transportation to and from school. The family re-

ceives a monthly stipend for their time and commitment, and

to offset any incurred expenses. You do not have to be a

Mount de Sales family to host. If you are interested in being a

host family for one of these students, please contact Ashley

Griffin in the MDS admissions office at (478) 751-3244.

Clean Cupboards / Clean Hearts The Clean Cupboards/Clean Hearts ministry at St Joseph

Church assists the St Vincent de Paul/St Peter Claver Church

Food Pantry by providing foods for distribution. Please place

your donations in the marked boxes in the church today. The

pantry has had wonderful generous donations this year but the

need is great. The shelves are still looking a little bare after the

last pantry. We would like to continue providing the same

quality and quantity of food for those we serve and really need

your help. Canned soups, boxed pasta, sauces, canned fruits

and cereals are especially needed this month. There are always

requests for cream corn, pasta and canned peaches. Please be

mindful that all items are factory sealed and are within the

“used by” date.

Thank you to the many of you who generously support this

ministry. Your contributions have made a difference in the

lives of so many.

May God bless you and your family. “For it is in giving that we receive” - St. Francis Assisi

Marriage Enrichment Seminar

ciation of God’s plan for marriage and family life, we would

Marriage. The Couples for Christ Ministry from Sacred Heart Church,

Warner Robins is sponsoring a Marriage Enrichment Seminar

today, June 3, 1:00pm – 5:00pm at the St. Joseph Social Hall.

This is FREE for all couples, donations are welcome. Please reg-

ister by calling Seymour Castro at (478) 542-1635 or email at

[email protected]. This seminar will strengthen

marriages and families in our parish. Thank you.

The bulletin deadline is 10 days prior to the date you need your article to appear. All items received after

the deadline will go into the next bulletin. Submissions should be emailed to: [email protected].
