Diocesan Planning – Area Catholic Communities (ACC) Update
This past month I met with Finance and Parish Councils and Brenda
Kresky, from the Diocesan Planning Office, to discuss the proposed creation
of an Area Catholic Community (ACC) for our parishes. The plan suggested
was that Avon, Collegeville and St. Joseph parishes would create an Area
Catholic Community. An ACC is a grouping of parishes that would share re-
sources with each other, such as, youth ministry and faith formation, etc. An
ACC would share one pastor and other assigned priests to the group. Each
parish would continue to maintain its individual finances and councils but
would create a common council for the ACC.
Input shared to the Diocese from our meetings with Brenda Kresky
Collegeville Parish: They were willing to work with the proposed ACC of
Avon, Collegeville and St. Joseph. They also want to explore sharing re-
sources with St. John’s University Campus Ministry and the Abbey. There is the
potential of sharing with the Abbey and Campus their music resources and
formation programs. In the next couple of months this proposal will be fur-
ther explored.
Avon Parish: There was a consensus that it would be of greater benefit for
the parish to join the with the Albany, St. Martin, St Anthony Area Catholic
Community. Brenda will share this information with the Diocesan Planning
Committee and the Bishop.
Timeline: A meeting with the priests, in which the ACC groupings would be
announced was to be held last Wednesday, but because of the weather
the meeting has been postponed till Feb 20th. The Bishop wants the priests
to give their final input to the plan at this meeting, so that beginning July 1,
2019, it may be implemented.
Gratitude and Prayers: I want to thank our parish leadership for their genuine
care for our parishes and their openness to reimagine our parishes. This is a
time of new vision and it is best that we focus on how God is calling us to be
renewed. Let us keep each other in prayer.
-Fr. Greg

BOY SCOUTING SUNDAY
The Boy Scouts of America desig-
nates the Sunday that falls before
February 8 (Scouting Anniversary
Day) as Scout Sunday, which is
the primary date to recognize the
contributions of young people
and adults to Scouting. Please
thank a scout, and keep them in your prayers.
ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZEN SOCIAL
Don’t worry, you didn’t miss our annual Senior Citi-
zen Social event! We have decided to host this
event during warmer weather; this year’s event is
scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 2nd.
More details will be printed in the bulletin as the
date approaches.
CREATION CARE CHAMPION IDEAS
Adult: Cut back or eliminate us-ing plastic bottled water. Invest in refillable bottles or insulated cups for water and other bever-ages. Kids: Make a bird feeder out of a plastic bottle or milk carton
Fun fact: 17 million barrels of oil are used to produce the plastic water bottles consumed in the US each year.
FOSTER GRANDPARENTS NEEDED: Do you like working with children? Adults age 55 and over can receive an hourly tax-free stipend ($2.65/hour) for volunteering 5 hours per week, or more if they wish, at local schools and Head Starts. Volunteers help chil-dren with activities, reinforce learning, help with art projects, and more. This is a great opportuni-ty if you have time to spare, love to be with chil-dren, and could use some extra non-taxable in-come. For more information, please call Sara at 320-229-4589. NOTE OF SYMPATHY: Please keep in your prayers the family of Jerome “Jerry” Buerman who passed away on Wednesday. Jerry is the father of Shirley (Clarence) Simon. May the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL, 2019 Bishop’s Annual Appeal Commitment Weekend is February 16-17. Please plan to support our Dioce-san Mission to be Christ’s heart of mercy, voice of hope and hands of justice.

He said to them, "Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing." And all spoke highly of him and were amazed
at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They also asked, "Isn't this the son of Joseph?" - Lk 4:21-22

The music schedule is out. Please feel free to con-
tact Jason for rehearsals, as needed.
We will be having two choir rehearsals for Saturday
February 23rd's Mass. We will rehearse Wednesday
February 13th and 20th at 9:30 am in the Church
space. As Lent, Holy Week, and Sacraments ap-
proach, a majority of the group has requested to con-
tinue our Wednesday morning rehearsals. Realizing
that this doesn't work for working individuals, Jason is
open to an informal Saturday night rehearsal as long
as there are five or more present. Please contact him if
you have any questions or a desire to join the choir.
We are seeking more individuals to join our music
family. Vocalists or accompanists we need you! Come
share your gifts and lift up your voice with others as we
worship our God. Contact Jason Prigge to join.
