ST. JOHN NEUMANN

One of the benefits of having a second full-time priest in the pastoral region is the ability to have more Masses and more of a sacramental presence throughout the week. To that end, the pastoral staff and I proposed the following weekday Mass schedule:

Monday: 8:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi

Tuesday: 6:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann8:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi

Wednesday: 6:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi8:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann

Thursday: 8:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi6:00 p.m. at St. John Neumann

(with Adoration following until 9:00 pm)

Friday: 8:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann

This schedule provides four daily Masses at each parish and provides for an 8:30 a.m. Mass every day of the week. The biggest addition is the evening Mass at St. John Neumann with the lead to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This also gives Fr. Vinay and I an opportunity to hear Confessions during the early part of Adoration, as well. (When Fr. Vinay gets here and is settled, we will look to adding more times of both Adoration and the Sacrament of Confession, as well).

He and I will periodically review the schedule to make sure it is working for everyone. If it seems there is a time that is not being met, or one of the new times seems more popular, we could potentially adapt the schedule to reflect the need. Please do not hesitate to offer suggestions and recommendations for other opportunities, as well.

There have been several parishioners who have inquired about expanding Adoration at both parishes, which is a true blessing. I hope to be able to report something more soon.

The Sacramental life of the Church is the life blood of the parish; and the Sacramental life is driven by the ongoing prayer life of the parishioners. As we continue the sessions on prayer this Monday, we will be looking at the Liturgy of the Hours as a form of prayer throughout the week. Whenever we look at the Liturgy of the Hours, it is a good reminder that these prayers are so very close to the prayers that Jesus Himself prayed, because they are built on the Psalms and canticles that formed the majority of prayer in the Synagogue and homes of First Century Palestinians. If you missed last week, you are very welcome to join us this week, Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in Daniel Hall at St. John Neumann.

Prayers and Blessings!Fr. Kyle Schnippel

Praying for Vocations….Thank you to those taking the Vocation Chalice. To have the Vocation Chalice in your home, call Diane Sova at 330-6440 or the parish office at 742-0953. Prayer materials are provided.

Vocation Chalice for the week of July 14, 2019 Jim & Rosie Bernard

“Life is a journey. When we stop, things don’t go right.” ~ Pope Francis

A Study on Prayer: “For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.”

~ St. Therese of Lisieaux

This July, we invite you to learn more about and to experience new forms of prayer. When: Monday, July 15, 22, and 29, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Where: St. John Neumann, Daniel Hall Presenters: Deacon Pat Palumbo & Fr. Kyle Schnippel

Ever wondered what Lectio Divina or the Liturgy of Hours are? Do you want to know how to get more out of praying a Rosary or Adoration? Join us as we learn about and experience different types of prayer.

If you have any questions, please call the Parish Office: Corpus Christi: 825-0618 or St. John Neumann: 742-0953.

Behold the Lamb of God!

To foster Eucharistic Devotion, we would like to extend the hours for Thursday evening Adoration to 6:00-9:00 p.m. To do so, we need parishioners to come be with our Lord. Please consider taking this opportunity to rest with our Lord in prayer.

School Supplies Needed!!!“Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.”

Gal. 6:2

We are working with Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio to help provide school supplies for refugee and immigrant children who arrive in our area and have a significant need for our help. Many families arrive in the Cincinnati area and enroll children in school right away. Many families struggle to buy needed supplies.

We would like to collect school supplies for these families and will have the collection at St. John Neumann over the 3 weekends (July 13/14, July 20/21 and July 27/28). We will have an area set up in our Gathering Space to deposit your donations. All school supplies are needed…pens, pencils, rulers, paper, notebooks, backpacks, glue, markers, crayons, etc. Any help you can give will be much appreciated and will serve to help these children learn and grow.

“Peace begins with a smile. I will never understand all the good that a simple smile can accomplish.”

~ St. Teresa of Calcutta.

Parents: Following is the conversation starter for this week. We continue to look for opportunities and materials that will serve to support you in forming your children’s faith lives. We welcome your feedback to Dottie at [email protected] or 742-0953, ext. 13.These activities come from a program called “The Meal Box.” The intent is to provide mealtime conversation starters that will engage your children and tips for the parents to apply the general theme to the family’s faith life.

Table Discussion: If you had to wear an object around your neck at all times, something that would be attached to a thin chain or string, what would it be? (Don’t choose something too heavy – you have to wear it all the time!)

Parents: Discuss the objects and things that adorn your home. Have your child name one or two things in your home that are reminders of his or her faith.

Activity: Using the things identified in your discussion, Ask your child to select one thing and to tell the story of that object and why it’s important in your family’s faith life. Specify which evening at supper he or she will “tell their story.” 23
