A small group of parishioners prepares our church for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and important holy days throughout the Church year. The colors we see in the Church change and the Church takes on a slightly different "feel" during different seasons. Our little group needs more helping hands, however. 행복한 부활절이 되시길 शुभ ई टर 復活節快樂

復活祭おめでとうございます المسيح قام Sunday, April 21, 2019 Dear friends in Christ, Whether you are members of our local community, visitors here for the Holy Day, or college students back home for Easter Vacation, we are thrilled to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus with you on this most important day of the entire Church year! For us, Easter begins with the Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday (April 20, this year), when the new Paschal Fire is blessed on the plaza, and the new Easter Candle is lit and carried in procession through the blackness of the church as the proclamation “Christ our light! Thanks be to God!” accompanies the procession, allowing all of the faithful to light their own candles from the Paschal Candle. Then, in the warm glow of a dark church now filled with candlelight, the Exsultet is sung and we continue with this, the most beautiful and most important liturgy of the entire year. During this sacred Mass, we hear the history of salvation from Holy Scripture, and then celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist) with our new Catholics — we are happy this year to welcome eleven people who have been preparing for this most sacred night through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Like me, many of them were not baptized, and as adults felt a tug or call from God to prayerfully discern whether joining the Catholic Church was right for them. If you are seeking hope and joy, may you find it here, especially during these great fifty days of Easter. May the sights, smells and bells, the celebration of Jesus’ rising from the dead, the people who bear his name, the sense of sanctity, the sheer numbers who attend Mass for Easter bring you grace from God the Faith, love from Jesus, and strength from the Holy Spirit.

Post-Abortion Healing Supporters Needed: Training Offered Saturday, June 22 Project Rachel [email protected] sfarch.org/post-abortion-healing-project-rachel Do you feel called to walk alongside someone seeking healing after an abortion? The Archdiocese of San Francisco Hope & Healing After Abortion Ministry (Project Rachel) is seeking accompaniment mentors. A training for prospective mentors is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, in San Mateo, led by Project Rachel Spiritual Director Father Vito Perrone and by Life Perspectives. Register to attend this specialized training online, above. For more information, contact Project Rachel by e-mail, above.

As we head to Easter and the School break that follows, I thought I would

inform/remind our community about a project and another potential

project. The projects should only minimally impact activities of the

School and Church. LED lighting the LED “bulbs” that have been

accumulating in the C-train container parked across from the Middle School will be installed throughout

the campus replacing the less energy efficient incandescent and florescent bulbs. This includes the parking lot lights. The quality of light given off by

the LED’s will be “different”; we’re aiming for better quality, but it may take a bit of time to get

used to it. St Hilary Church and School will save a considerable amount of money in the cost of

electricity and in the less frequent replacement of bulbs over the much longer lives of LED. A crew of electricians from a company called Westech will be

on campus the week of April 22 during School Easter break. Westech people may be on campus the

week of April 15 (before Easter) to establish logistics for the work. The crew will work around Church services. The old lighting fixtures will be

stored in the C-train container for a short while before being hauled to re-cycling.

- Re-roofing the Gym and Middle School In order to prepare for the installation of solar panels this summer (2019), the majority of the roof areas of the Gym and Middle School will be stripped to the plywood sheathing and covered with new asphalt shingles. Weather permitting, the work on one or both of these roofs will take place during Easter break. We will confirm as the weather situation reveals itself.

We appreciate your understanding and ask for your cooperation in helping make these

activities as efficient as possible. I don’t really see any problems for our community from these

projects. Often just the knowledge of work before it starts puts people at ease.

Please let us know if you have any comments or questions. You may contact Mike Ratiani or

me for more information. Thank you.

Regards, Adrian

Saint Hilary School News

Let us rejoice in the Risen Shepherd! As we celebrate the risen Christ this Easter Sunday, we are reminded of Pope Francis’ address during his Easter Ubi et Orbi in 2017.

“With one voice, in every part of the world, we proclaim the great message: ‘The Lord is truly risen as He said!’ May Jesus who vanquished the darkness of sin and death, grant peace to our days.” As Christians all over the world celebrate the Risen Shepherd this year, we are reminded that through the resurrection our faith in Jesus, His love, His peace, and His goodwill is even more important now. The celebration of Jesus rising from the dead is a corner stone of our faith. The mystery of the stone rolled away from the tomb is the foundation of our lives. The celebration of His resurrection and the stone gives us a reason for being. There is not an inflexible wall of sin and discord, but a horizon filled with life and joy through our faith. Our world today is full of uncertainty, yet our belief in the Risen Shepherd keeps us grounded and to look beyond the calamity ensuing in our midst. We may not understand why all the everyday problems of life surround us but we can, as , be certain that Jesus died, and with the resurrection gave us the glory of eternal life. The Risen Shepherd seeks us out to follow Him on His way and to grant us peace through eternity. During this holy Easter season, we pray that you rejoice in our Risen Shepherd and that He grants you and your families joy and peace throughout the year.
