Church Photo Directory Help In 2017, we will celebrate our 50th Anniversary as a Catholic Faith Community. As part of that celebration, we are going to create a new pictorial directory of our church family. We are looking for some volunteers to help interview different photo directory companies in January. Once a company has been selected, we will need additional volunteers to help organize parishioners for photos. If you are interested in volunteering for either (or both!) of these opportunities, please contact Tom Swier via email at: [email protected]
PADS MINISTRY MEETING
Like to cook? If you do, join PADS Ministry (Public Action to Deliver Shelter). We provide meals on the 2nd Friday of each month, October thru April at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt Prospect. We only meet two times a year to plan menus, once in September and again in January.
No one is committed to cooking each time. You have a choice of when and what you want to cook from the menu and whether you would like to serve or not. We usually have 15-25 clients to serve. For the entrée, we have four cooks and others do the side dishes and desserts. If you are interested in the Ministry and would like to join
us, we will meet Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 7pm in the Meeting House to plan meals for Feb, March, & April. If you are un-able to attend but would like to join, please call Elaine Chap-man at 847-439-1055 or Diane Pankow at 847-439-3482

Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, where the Magi find the newborn king and offer him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
In the spirit of the Magi, please put your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul envelope so that comfort and peace can once again be given to a newborn child. May the peace and joy of the New Year be yours!
St Vincent de Paul is an emergency source for food and short-term financial help for parishioners and those living within the parish bounda-ries. Please call 847-437-6208. Requests will be handled with care and confidentiality.

Children’s Choir
Our Children’s Choir has been busy learning a lot of music our 1st year. Be-sides learning some of our traditional hymns in our Gather hymnal, they have been preparing special songs for Mary Feast Days, Advent, and Christmas.
All Children of the Parish in Grades 3 through 8 are invited to join the Choir. Practices are on Wednesday afternoons from 5:45 to 6:25 PM in the Bernardin Room. Performances include joining with Adult choir for special and seasonal Masses as well as for Religious Educa-tion events and liturgies. We start again on January 13th.
Reflections from the pews: During this Holy Year of Mercy, are you experienc-ing some forgiveness and reconciliation in your own life? This Holy Year will likely bring about good changes for many of us in our personal lives. If this happens to you, would you consider taking a moment to share in the bulletin? Your name does not need to appear, but it’s a good opportunity to share your faith and encourage us in ours.
Contact Mary Catherine 847-437-6208.

(Dignitatis Humanae – 12/7/1965)
50 years later, how is it relevant to today’s world? Bob Gilligan, Executive Director of the Catholic Conference of Illinois for over 20 years, is the person responsible for lobbying on behalf of all dioceses in Illinois on laws relating to the principles of Catholic social teaching. A timely subject on many levels, Bob will share local as well as national implications on Religious Liberty. Our forefathers and foundational elements of European countries had one vision of how Church and State were related and worked together, but in modern times, understandings have changed dramatically. Join us as we welcome Bob to identify key areas of legislation that affects the Catholic Church and Americans in general.
Saturday, January 9
8:30 – Continental Breakfast
9:00 to 11:00 a.m. – Presentation
Educated at Marquette University with a Masters from ASU, He has served as the Executive Director of the Catholic Conference of Illinois since 2003. Bob also hosts a monthly Radio Program on Relevant Radio regarding the work of the Conference and other important and timely issues for Americans--and Catholics in particular -- as related to our Seven Principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Bob, his wife, and his son are members of St. Juliana’s parish on the Northwest side of Chicago.
