Discover Saint John

With its charming, historic streets, dozens of restaurants, bars

and galleries in its uptown and the beautiful Bay of Fundy on

its doorstep, Saint John, New Brunswick is a vibrant city full of

urban adventure on the edge of nature.

The Bay of Fundy, home to the world’s highest tides, offers

excitement and thrills in the heart of the city with the Reversing

Rapids. And as Canada’s first incorporated city (inc. 1785), Saint

John boasts unspoiled historical treasures, like the City Market

and the Imperial Theatre, on almost every corner.

Population and climate

Approximately 120,000 people live in Greater Saint John,

and 775,000 in New Brunswick, Canada’s only officially

bilingual province. Saint John has a temperate climate of

approximately 22°C or 72°F in summer and -3°C or 25°F in

winter.

Top attractions

Reversing Rapids

Where the Bay of Fundy tides - the highest in the world - rush

up and over the Saint John River, they collide spectacularly, and

the river actually reverses in the face of this unstoppable power.

You can enjoy a meal at one of two restaurants overlooking the

water, a gift shop, a theatre, observation decks, skywalk, trails

along the water, a zipline and harbour cruise.

Saint John City Market

Experience Canada’s oldest continuing farmers’ market,

where the roof resembles a ship’s inverted hull reflecting our

shipbuilding past. Visit merchants at colourful stalls proudly

displaying local produce, meat, fresh seafood and handcrafted

items. See artists at work or have a bite to eat in one of the

many eateries featuring local and ethnic foods. Open Monday

thru Saturday. In 2013, the City Market was named Canada’s

Great Public Space.

The New Brunswick Museum

New Brunswick Museum, located in Market Square. Treasures

from New Brunswick and the world are interpreted in stunning

world-class exhibits. Visit the “Hall of Great Whales,” the

One of TD Station’s greatest assets is its connection to many

nearby amenities via indoor walkways. The “Inside Connection”

links the facility to the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre,

Delta Hotels by Marriott Saint John and Hilton Saint John hotels,

shopping, restaurants & bars and indoor parking – all within easy

walking distance.

TD Station was constructed so it would have the flexibility to host

a wide variety of events in a multitude of configurations. With

6,200 permanent seats and additional portable seating bringing

the total to near 8,000, the facility is sized to accommodate the

requirements of almost any event or performer.

Removable seats and hockey dasher boards enable the facility

to be transformed into the largest floor in Atlantic Canada with

50,000 sq. ft. of unobstructed floor space on the main level plus

an additional 28,000 sq. ft. on the concourse level. Its technical

capabilities are considered second to none in Eastern Canada.

No matter how big or small, TD Station can host almost any type

of show or event, including tournaments, competitions, concerts,

trade shows and conventions. You can be assured of a first-class

experience at TD Station. We look forward to hearing from you!

An Arresting Experience

Brigadier-General Oliver DeLancey’s Brigade, Revolutionary War Re-enactors A unique Saint John welcome and a peak into the history of Canada’s ‘Loyalist City’. Your guests will remember their ‘arrest’ at the hands of red-coated, musket-bearing Loyalist soldiers for posing a threat to the peace of His Majesty’s colonies. The volunteer members of DeLancey’s Brigade can tailor an appearance to your event and your group - from an arrest or recruiting party to marching in a head table or escorting the entire crew through the uptown to your dinner or reception. Visit DeLanceys.org to meet the Brigade. Contact [email protected] to arrange an appearance.

Reception Theme Ideas

Water Street Dinner Theatre Saint John has a dinner theatre troupe that can present lively themed musical shows. The performers are also the servers, and musical comedy is what they serve up!

Evening By the Bay Give an “upscale twist” to the popular Maritime Kitchen theme. Serve lobster in martini glasses, and feature special Bay of Fundy cocktails & local beer. Replace East Coast music with jazzy, hip entertainment. Delancey’s Brigade, a reenactment troupe, will arrest your group and march them to the venue.

Whale of a Time The New Brunswick Museum provides a remarkable introduction to New Brunswick’s rich cultural history and diverse natural environment and is the perfect backdrop for your private reception or meal. In the Hall of Great Whales, visitors are thrilled to wine and dine beneath a life-size model and the actual skeleton of a North Atlantic right whale and to learn about the fascinating marine life in the Bay of Fundy.

Maritime Gem The breathtaking Imperial Theatre, restored to its 1913 Victorian splendor elegantly showcases an evening of Maritime entertainment for groups of up to 900. Or let your group take the spotlight, with space for a standup reception for 200 right on centre stage!

Let us help you develop programming that will leave your guests with a lasting impression of our beautiful city on the Bay. There are so many ideas, the options are endless!

studio to watch them at work and take home locally

made crafts, jewellery and art as a souvenir. Or you

There are two programs in New Brunswick to assure visitors that the properties listed have met or exceeded standards for amenities, cleanliness, repair and staff courtesy.

All CAA/AAA rated properties must meet the same basic requirements for cleanliness and hospitality. A rating of one to five diamonds tells visitors what type of experience to expect, from no-frills to highly personalized.

The Canada Select / Camping Select Program goes one step further by providing nationally consistent standards and a recognized star rating system which awards properties (1) to (5) stars. Facilities - F Recreaction - R
