Queridos amigos, Estos son días importantes. Nos estamos enfrentando a nuevas pruebas, a cosas desconocidas. Parece que cada día tiene nueva in-formación y nuevas preocupaciones. Me imagino que muchos de ustedes están preocupados por su futuro, por nuestro futuro. De al-guna manera, nos preocupa la posibilidad de contraer una enfermedad grave. También nos intranquilizamos porque surgen muchos otros desafíos debido a nuestra necesidad de responder a la amenaza del virus. Las preocupaciones económicas y laborales son graves. Los recientes días lluviosos e incluso tristes, han coincidido con nuestros sentimientos. También hemos visto algunos días espectaculares de primavera, llenos de flores y soleados—que contrastan dramáticamen-te con las cosas que nos rodean... a menos que … ... a menos que estemos orando. Mediante nuestra renovada oración en "modo de crisis" podemos compartir y vivir cada momento con Jesús—aún cuando Él pareciera estar muy lejos. Analicen el salmo responsorial de este domingo, el cual además de reconocer la lucha, es también una oración de confianza y seguridad: “Desde lo hondo a ti grito, Señor; ¡Señor, escucha mi voz! Estén tus oídos atentos a la voz de mi súplica. Y también: “Mi alma espera en el Señor, espera en Su palabra; más que los centinelas el amanecer. Aguarde Israel al Señor". Últimamente, la gente ha comentado sentir que tal vez no "renunciaron lo suficiente a cosas" en esta Cuaresma. En otras palabras, sienten que lo que está sucediendo actualmente nos está invitando a todos a sacrificarnos y a crecer. Encuentren al Señor Jesús en la dimensión más profunda de esta Cuaresma. Él está aquí y nos está enseñando cosas nuevas y lo que realmente importa —Mírenlo —como centinelas esperando la aurora. Aprendan de la manera en que Jesús le enseñó a María y a Marta en su demora en responderles. ¿Se equivoca Jesús alguna vez, realmente, en su respuesta a nuestras oraciones? Aprenda de la respuesta de Él para apreciar lo que Él valora. Jesús es bueno y está escuchando. Con mis oraciones, Padre Matthew Zuberbueler Párroco P.S. Dear Friends, These are important days. We are facing new trials, unfamiliar things. It seems like each day has new information and new wor-ries. I imagine many of you are worried about your future, about our future. In some ways, we worry about the possibility of getting a seri-ous illness. We also worry because there are many other challenges coming about because of our need to respond to the virus threat. The economic and employment worries are serious. The re-cent rainy and even dreary days have matched our sentiments. We have also seen some spectacular spring days, complete with flowers and sunshine—dramatically contrasting with things going on around us…unless… …unless we are praying. By our renewed “crisis mode” prayer we can share and live each moment with Jesus—even when He seems far away. Take note of the responsorial psalm this Sunday. It acknowledges the struggle but it is a prayer of confidence and trust: “Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to my voice in supplica-tion.” And also: “I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His word. More than sentinels wait for the dawn, let Israel wait for the Lord.” People have remarked lately that they feel like maybe they didn’t “give enough up” this Lent. In other words, they feel like the current state of things is inviting us all to sacrifice and to grow. Please find the Lord Jesus in the deeper dimension of this Lent. He is here and He is teaching us new things about what truly matters. Watch for Him—like sentinels waiting for the dawn. Learn from the way Jesus taught Mary and Martha in His delay at responding to them. Is Jesus ever wrong, really, in His answer to our prayers? Learn from His response to value what He values. He is good and He is listening. With my prayers, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler Pastor P.S. I invite you to maintain a hopeful spirit as you receive the news
that the crisis we face will upset even our celebration of Holy Week and Easter. Due to the restrictions on large gatherings and the need for vigilant social distancing, our Palm Sunday, Holy Thurs-day, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday services and Masses will all have to presented online as our Masses have recently been. It will be a sobering experience but by our real and deep prayer, we will find the Victory and the joy that Jesus brings by His Paschal Mystery. Mark my words, people will see their faith strengthened.

Act of Spiritual Communion
During these days when Holy Communion isn't possible please adopt the traditional and fruitful practice of praying a Spiritual Communion Prayer. Here is a suggested one, but feel free to pray one from your heart: An ideal practice is to make this prayer when you are meditat-ing on the readings from the Mass of the Day or watching it on TV or online. Dear Parishioners of St. Anthony, The unprecedented suspension of public Masses has been a shock to our lives and our prayer. It is also seriously affecting the daily opera-tions of the parish. We pay our employees and our bills by means of the Sunday collections. As you know, there are not any Sunday collec-tions being taken up these days! A special thank you to those of you who mailed in your contributions/envelopes. And to those of you who bring them to the drop box beside our St. Anthony statue next to the Padua Fund poor box. Parish Changes Due to Pandemic Times The church will be open for private prayer. Parishioners
are strongly encouraged to make a Spiritual Communion each day, trusting in the Lord Jesus to share with them the grace of Holy Communion.
Stations of the Cross, the Perpetual Help Novena (on Wednesday evenings), and Benediction of the Blessed Sacra-ment will not be held.
Pre-baptismal and adult confirmation classes have been can-celled until further notice.
All activities are canceled except for the Food Pantry. The gift shop is closed until further notice. The parish office is closed;
nevertheless, we are able to answer your calls from 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday through Friday only.

Plenary Indulgence for Coronavirus Sufferers
During this difficult time, the Church is making available a plenary indulgence for those who are suffering from the coro-navirus as well as those who care directly for those with the virus and those who are praying for the sick. Pertinent sec-tions of the decree include: “This Apostolic Penitentiary… grants the gift of Indulgences in accordance with the following disposition. The Plenary Indul-gence is granted to the faithful suffering from Coronavirus, who are subject to quarantine by order of the health authority in hospitals or in their own homes if, with a spirit detached from any sin, they unite spiritually through the media to the celebration of Holy Mass, the recitation of the Holy Rosary, to the pious practice of the Way of the Cross or other forms of devotion, or if at least they will recite the Creed, the Lord's Prayer and a pious invocation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, offering this trial in a spirit of faith in God and charity towards their brothers and sisters, with the will to fulfil the usual condi-tions (sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer according to the Holy Father's intentions), as soon as possible. “Health care workers, family members and all those who…care for the sick of Coronavirus according to the words of the divine Redeemer: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (Jn 15: 13), will obtain the same gift of the Plenary Indulgence under the same condi-tions. “This Apostolic Penitentiary also willingly grants a Plenary Indulgence under the same conditions on the occasion of the current world epidemic, also to those faithful who offer a visit to the Blessed Sacrament, or Eucharistic adoration, or reading the Holy Scriptures for at least half an hour, or the recitation of the Holy Rosary, or the pious exercise of the Way of the Cross, or the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, to im-plore from Almighty God the end of the epidemic, relief for those who are afflicted and eternal salvation for those whom the Lord has called to Himself.” And finally…. “The Church prays for those who find themselves unable to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick and of the Viaticum, entrusting each and every one to divine Mercy by virtue of the communion of saints and granting the faithful a Plenary Indulgence on the point of death, provided that they are duly disposed and have recited a few prayers during their lifetime (in this case the Church makes up for the three usual conditions required). For the attainment of this indulgence the use of the crucifix or the cross is recommended.” A plenary indulgence is the remission of all temporal punish-ment due to sin. We urge all parishioners, in a spirit of frater-nal solidarity, to avail themselves of these special indulgences
and to make them known among our friends and family.
