A middle-ish of the Month of May greeting to you: The month of May has afforded us a wonderful opportunity to revitalize our relationship with Our Blessed Mother. The month of May has always been dedicated to Our Lady, but this year is especially great because of the marking of the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima. This year, as Pope Francis elevated to sainthood Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marta, we are again reminded of the influence that Our Blessed Mother affects in our modern day world. The celebration in the city of Fatima was magnificent and, once again, showed the faith of so many in this world towards Our Lord and His Blessed Mother. As I said during our school May Celebration, the “day that the sun danced in the sky” has always fascinated me. I remember when I first saw the movie version of the apparitions. I wondered what the sun and the sky must have looked like on that day. I asked my dad, born and living in Italy at the time, who would have been 7 years old that year, what he saw. He reminded me that he was only 7 years old, and really did not remember anything from that day. At least I have a bit of a connection with May 13, 1917… A few things to catch-up on…We had our two Mary Celebrations a week or so ago. First, on Tuesday evening, our CCD students presented a wonderful tribute to Our Blessed Mother. Through their singing and reading, the children made their last night of class a memorable one. Mary was crowned by the First Communion Class, and the students and their parents made their way from the celebration with a sense that the Blessed Mother was very pleased. Thanks to Mr. Polselli, Mrs. Granroth, our teachers catechists, and aides for all their work, not only on this night but throughout the year. By the way, Mr. Polselli was married on Saturday, May 13th. Congratulations and best wishes! On Thursday, the St. Anselm School community presented Our Blessed Mother with a beautiful tribute. With our teachers, students, and Mrs. Leonetti using the theme of the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima, our school community displayed all of the attributes and special characteristics of Mary. This was represented through a procession of doves, flowers, and candles. Through the singing, intercessions, and litanies put forth, the children showed the many facets of how Our Blessed Mother touches our lives every day. The celebration concluded with the very beautiful and reverent St. Anselm tradition of the May Court bringing forth the crown for the Blessed Mother. The court consists of our 8th Grade girls, who gracefully bring the crown of flowers to the May Queen, who then processes to the blessed Mother’s statue for the crowning. I can think of two words that sum up the actions of our students that day: reverent and elegant. Thank you to all for the tremendous tribute to Our Lady of Fatima. Thank you to all of our First Communion students and families who crowned the Blessed Mother’s statue on this past Mother’s Day weekend. I know that Our Blessed Mother was pleased. A reminder that, through the generosity of the Knights of Columbus Council 4921, Regina Coeli, a stone monument on behalf of the unborn will be dedicated on Wednesday evening, May 24th, following the 5 o’clock Vigil Mass for the feast of the Ascension of Our Lord. The stone will complete the original plan of the Prayer Garden by Fr. Chylinski. Father will celebrate the Mass that evening and then will lead a procession in honor of Our Blessed Mother to the Prayer Garden. After completing our recitation of the Rosary, Fr. Chylinski will bless and dedicate our monument. I hope that you will be able to be a part of our special evening. Enough for now. May the abundant blessings of Our Lady of Fatima be with you always and may her Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ watch over and protect you always. Anselm is Awesome! -Fr. Chiriaco

Dedication of the Memorial to Unborn Children

Following the 5:00 PM Vigil Mass Celebrant: Father Keith Chylinski

Through the kindness and generosity of the Knights of Columbus and Academy Concrete, this memorial stone is located in our Prayer Garden. The stone is a gift to Saint Anselm Church by the Knights of Columbus Council 4921 Regina Coeli. Academy Concrete provided the foundation for the stone. A procession from the Church to the Prayer Garden for the blessing of the stone will immediately follow the Vigil Mass.

Vincentian Message… In the Gospel today, Jesus says to us: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments...Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” When we give to the poor, God indeed pours his love, peace and joy into our hearts, into our lives and through us into the hearts of those who are poor.
