From the Pastor’s Desk...
INVEST-ING – Within the 11:00 AM Mass from the Cathedral on Sunday July 19, the Pope’s Apostolic Delegate to the USA (Christophe Pierre)
will invest Archbishop Pérez with his pallium that our Archbishop will henceforth wear as his outermost and uppermost thing that people see when they see or think of the Church in Philadelphia. THE YOKE’S ON US – May this upcoming occasion of the arrival of a fresh pallium in Philadelphia be for each one of us a reminder of who we are called to be through our baptism into Christ. And may all of us—our Pallium-ed Prelate and each one of us—be set on fire by the Lord’s words in today’s Gospel: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy and my burden light”.
Sacrament of Penance - Our normal schedule for Confessions will resume on Tuesday July 7. Confessions will be heard
each Tuesday after the 8:00 AM Mass and each Saturday from 3:15 to 4:00 PM. Until further notice Confessions will be heard on the front porch of 602 S. Main Street (next to Chapel).
In This Together - If, after having attended a Sunday Mass, you have a positive COVID test, please contact our parish office immediately so that we may post this information on our parish social media. We will
not share your name with anyone; however, we will inform our parishioners that a person who tested positive for COVID was in attendance at that particular Mass the previous weekend.
SPECIAL COLLECTION – This weekend we are taking up the annual collection for the Catholic Campaign for
Human Development. Forty million people in the United States live in poverty. This collection supports programs that empower people to identify and address the obstacles they face as they work to bring permanent and positive change to their communities. Learn more about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection
YOKE – In today’s Gospel Jesus says to us, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am meek and humble of heart…”
PALLIUM - We sing “The Church’s One Foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord”. With this belief in place, we can say that the visible foundation of the visible Church is the Bishop of Rome. Whenever the Pope is presiding at a Mass, no matter in what nation or diocese, the uppermost and outermost
thing to be seen is the vestment he wears around his neck, marked with five crosses and two black “feet”. This outermost, uppermost, first-encountered symbol is called the Pallium.
The Pallium is woven from the wool of lambs and it symbolizes Jesus as the Good Shepherd who reveals himself to us in such words as: “The Son of Man has come to seek out and save that which was lost” (Matthew 18:11). So, when people see the visible leader of the visible Church of Christ as the first thing, the outermost thing, the uppermost thing they see (should see) is
Jesus continuing to seek out and save that which becomes lost; that is, not only “publicly designated sinners” or people who “everybody knows to be sinners” but also each one of us at various points on our journey. This passion, this mission is to be the hallmark, the first thing people notice not just when they see the leader of the visible Church but also each member the Church which the Bishop of Rome is leading on the road of discipleship.
ARCHBISHOPS – Typically on June 29, the Solemnity of the Apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the Pope entrusts a pallium to each bishop who has become an Archbishop in the past 12 months. The 645 bishops who lead Archdioceses are to be the Bishop of Rome’s “main regional representatives” making the
passion of Christ for the lost the first thing that people see and think of when they see Catholics throughout the world.

St. Ann Pantry - We want to thank all those who have made financial donations to St. Ann’s Pantry which is helping almost 100 households a month. Your generosity has been overwhelming. At this time, though, we ask that you hold back a bit on such financial contributions until we “spend down” the pantry’s current financial surplus. In a few months as our current funds are depleted we will once again request financial donations to help with this ministry. That said, we still need your material donations to continue to assist our families with your donations of: diapers (especially sizes 3, 4, & 5); laundry detergent; baby wipes; toilet paper; paper towels; cooking oil; juice; bagged dry black beans; white rice; canned tuna; pancake mix and syrup. Donations can be placed in the bin on the front porch of the parish office (502 S. Main St). For information contact Michelle Giffroy-Rossi (610-283-1515) or Jack McKeon (610-283-1311)
Caring for Friends (formerly Aid for Friends) is a wonderfully simple program connecting meal providers with those suffering from food insecurity. Our Caring for Friends freezer will be available as it always
had been in the back room of 602 S. Main Street on Saturdays from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and on Sundays from 7:00 AM through 1:00 PM. For information contact Kate Commiskey at call (610) 933-3814 or [email protected]
MEALS FOR SENIORS – Shelf-stable meals for Seniors (age 60+) are available for home delivery through the Phoenixville Senior Center (153 Church ST). For more
information contact Joann McCracken at [email protected] or call 484-262-9127. You can stop delivery anytime but it is suggested that you consider storing some meals for possible future food shortage.
The Chester County Food Bank sponsors Fresh2U program which brings fresh affordable produce to several
sites in our county from June through November. The PHX site is the parking lot on Church Street between Senior Center and the Clinic on from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Wednesdays.
“EASY TO DO GOOD” – We are blessed to have so many ways by which it is easy to do good in our community. In addition to our parish ministries we
invite our members to consider volunteering through, for example: The Senior Center, PACS, Orion, the Clinic, Alianzas and the meals at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Additionally, we are blessed through our shelters: A Baby’s Breath, The House, St. Mary’s and Good Samaritan.
Chris & Anthony Granese are inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Please pray for the sick, disabled, homebound members of our Parish Family.
Counting Our Blessings! Your donations help us fulfill our parish mission
and make improvements to our facilities. Thank you for your generosity!
Thank You - Thank you for your continued, faithful financial support of our parish at this challenging time. For the duration of this crisis, I ask you to consider mailing your church envelopes to the parish or placing your donations in the bin marked “Office Correspondence” located on the front porch of our office (502 S. Main ST).
ONLINE GIVING - Parishioners and friends of our parish can now make one-time or recurring gifts directly on our parish website. Stop worrying about weekly envelopes or mailing in special donations. Instead, give a gift at any time (from any device that connects to the internet) using a current email and checking account or credit card. It’s simple and secure. Visit www.churchofsaintann.org to see how easy it is.
Due to the early transmission of the bulletin because of the 4th of July holiday, the parish
financials will be posted next weekend.
Meals for St. Mary's Shelter
The parishioners of St. Ann's provide dinners for the residents of St. Mary's Franciscan Shelter on Emmett St. in Phoenixville for two scheduled weeks each year. Our next assigned week is July 27 to July 31, 2020. If you, your family, or your group would like to prepare a meal and deliver it to the Shelter, arrangements have been made for contactless drop-off. If you are unable to prepare and deliver a meal during this time but would like to help, an alternative would be to order a meal from a local restaurant for take-out and/or delivery. Please contact Patti Phillips at 610-935-2687 or [email protected] for more information.
