———CALENDAR OF THE WEEK——— !!!Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
This Sunday, Bishop Cunningham formally
recognizes all of the Catechumens of the Diocese as
we travel to the Cathedral for the Rite of Election.
Though we have four individuals, already baptized,
who will be fully initiated into the Catholic Church at
the Easter Vigil, we have one who has never been bap-
tized—Sara Brhel, recently married here at OLGC—
who will be officially recognized by the Bishop this
Sunday. Congratulations to her as we continue to pray
for her and all our RCIA candidates.
You may have noticed on the Parish Lenten
Calendars that was handed out last week that I intend
to do a “Homily Series” during Lent. The homily se-
ries is on four aspects of the Mass and will be given on
the second, third, fourth, and fifth weekends of Lent. I
hope you will find it both interesting and meaningful.
It will be given at all the Masses, including the 7pm.
Also, to hopefully allay the number of Confessions
that I normally get during “The Light is On,” and to
give ample opportunity for Confession, especially for
those who cannot make it on Saturdays, I am offering
the Sacrament of Reconciliation on those four Sun-
days (2/25, 3/4, 3/11 & 3/18) at 6pm on Sunday nights
at OLGC.
God bless, and may you have an excellent
Lent.
Fr. Michael

WHAT IS LENT?: Lent is traditionally described as last-ing for 40 days, in commemoration of the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert, The three traditional practices to be taken up with renewed vigor during Lent are prayer (justice towards God), fasting (justice towards self), and almsgiving (justice towards neighbors).
A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE from the
Office of Family Life Education (A Hope Ap-
peal Agency)
Jesus went into the desert to put his life in perspective.
This lent, take a fresh look at a difficult relationship in your
life. Concentrate on the positive things that person does, not
just the negatives. Try to understand why their behaviors
“bug” you. Can you honestly share your feelings with them
without attacking them? Make Lent a time to MEND and
FORGIVE!
