WELCOME
We would like to welcome you in Egypt, at our „SurfMotion“ surf station and in the beautiful Palm Royale Resort Soma Bay.
Our main goal is to make sure that you have a great time during your stay in Egypt. If you have any questions, ideas, suggestions or complaints please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
The following pages should give you some helpful information for your visit during the IFCA Slalom JYM World Championships 2016.

Accommodations
The organizer has a special arrangement with the Palm Royale Resort Soma Bay (www.palmroyaleresort.com) with excellent conditions and prices for all competitors and their families.
The event area is very closed to the hotel (around 200m).
You can book your accommodation at the Palm Royale Resort threw a special rate of 65 US$ for a single room per night (half board) and 90 US$ for a double room per night (half board, 2 persons). For booking please write at [email protected] and please use the key word „Windsurf World Championships“.

Beside the Palm Royale Resort there is a variety of hotels in Safaga or in Soma Bay where you can alternatively book your accommodation. PLEASE NOTE that the above mentioned special rate is just available at the Palm Royale Resort with which we have an exclusive partnership.
Advertising
The competitors are committed to wear the official competition jerseys and the sail stickers on both sides of the sails.
The advertising material you will get at the registration on site.

Breakfast
At the Palm Royale Resort Soma Bay you will get breakfast every morning in the hotel. All the other sailors who are accommodated in other hotels are requested to have breakfast in their hotel. On the surf station / event venue we are not able to offer a additional breakfast.
Competition
The competition will take place in front of the surf station „SurfMotion“ close to the Palm Royale Resort Soma Bay according to the rules as defined in the official Notice of Race (NoR) and the Sailors Instructions (SI).
Drinks
For all sailors we offer water free of charge. You will get the water on the bar at the surf station with your ID-band.
Furthermore you can buy soft drinks and alcoholic drinks on the bar.

Equipment transport From the airport Hurghada we offer a equipment transport free of charge. Please let us know your flight information and the account of board bags as soon as possible to

Equipment storage
There will be a big and night secured storage tent for all sailors’ equipment on event site.

First Aid
The Hotel (Palm Royale Resort Soma Bay) has an own medical center and doctor as well as a small pharmacy. In emergency cases please contact somebody from the organization team.

Internet
All sailors will get a W-LAN access at the hotel free of charge.
Attention: The W-LAN from the hotel is unfortunately not covering the surf station.
ID-band
Every Sailor gets a ID-band which authorizes you to get one meal and water all day long at the surf station. Your ID-band you will get during the registration.
Attention: Please take care of it. By loss or damage we cannot replace the ID-Band because of limited stock.
Lunch
For all sailors we offer one meal at lunch time per day free of charge.
You will get your lunch at the surf station with your ID-band.
Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony will take place on Friday 1st of July at 7 pm on the event stage in front of the surf station.
The closing ceremony and price giving will be on Wednesday 6th of July at 7 pm on the event stage in front of the surf station.
Attention: Attendance at both ceremonies is mandatory for all competitors.

Organisation Office
For any request you can ask Fabienne at the Race Office.
Party
The opening ceremony will be followed by a opening party at the SurfMotion station with live DJ on the 1st of July. During the competition days we offer a daily sundowner with lounge music. And the closing ceremony will be followed by a closing party at the SurfMotion station with live DJ on the 6th of July.
Registration
Registration will take place on 1st of July between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm at the SurfMotion station in front of the race office.

Rigging up
You can rig up your stuff in our carpeted and sheltered sail hall which has an useable area of around 100 sq m.
You can also rig up your sails in the sheltered storage tent but here you have solid sand ground, no carpet. If you have you can use a rigg cover bag.

Thursday 7th July departure
Shoes
It is not necessarily required to wear shoes on the water. But on the sandbank you sometimes can find broken shells with very sharp edges. That’s why we have to advise to wear shoes.
Skippers Meeting
Daily skippers meeting will be held at 60 minutes before the first possible warning signal.

Sun protection
Please note that the Egyptian sun is very hot in summer times. The sunburn risk is very high as well as the sunstroke risk. Therefore beside general sun protection (sun creme, sun blocker, etc.) we advice to wear a head covering like a hat, cap, beanie, etc.
Table Soccer
As compensation activity we have a table soccer table on site. For sure you can use it free of charge.
Table Tennis
As compensation activity we have a table tennis table on site. For sure you can use it free of charge.

Teritorial Briefing
In our general office (the office of the surf station, not the race office) you will get a personal briefing over our windsurf spot and its specifics. Especially with regard to safety aspects we expressly ask you to use this service!!!

Transfer
There will be a transfer from the airport Hurghada to the Palm Royale Resort Soma Bay / Event venue free of charge.
That we can organize the transfer for you please send us your round trip flight information as soon as possible but three days before arrival at the latest.
Waste
Please, keep the beach clean and the parking as well.
Water
