Two key Work Streams
Beef sustainability
• Beef FSA developed to establish benchmarks with existing assurance schemes and identify key work priorities.
• Currently undertaking PILOTS with 6 existing assurance schemes benchmarking and then undertaking a materiality analysis
• Process is just as valuable – how do we work with existing structures.• Working with assurance schemes to establish the best way forward.

sector, and work together to support measurable
positive impact in the beef sector

1. Demonstrate continuous sustainability improvement across the EU
-To develop a Beef sustainability program that enhances existing assurance schemes
-Undertake Beef FSA benchmarking with assurance schemes and materiality analysis with 6 existing beef assurance schemes.
-Pilot case study development Communications activities promoting the Beef sustainability stepping stones to improvement.
Review progress of Beef Sustainability Program and initiate an updating progress
-Beef FSA finalised and implemented as part of a wider beef sustainability program. -Continued collaborative activities with the Assurance Scheme owners
-Collaboration with assurance schemes to appreciate the size of the task of benchmarking and prioritising sustainability challenges.
-Continue collaborative activities with stakeholders to ensure a successful identification of sustainability priorities. -Agree target outcomes, action plans, initiate metrics development and collaborative stakeholders
-Collaborate with stakeholders in the implementation of the Beef Sustainability plan -Implementation of work programs and metrics.
Through metrics develop baseline for key areas of measurement
-Launch Beef FSA as the starting point for the EU Beef Sustainability program -Transparency of development process via meetings with stakeholders
-Comms around the process and progress -Reporting on progress with data that quantifies tangible progress.

2. SAI Platform recognised globally for its sustainability efforts in the EU
Formation of the SAI Platform EU Round Table for Sustainable beef
-Development and documentation of the necessary by-laws and protocols
-Support the GRSB conference in Ireland using the opportunity to ‘launch’ the EU Round Table for Sustainable Beef
-Ensure that the Round table increases in membership beyond that of just SAI members and is able to quantify the impact of the actions implemented.
-EU RSB launched -Conference organisation and profiling of the EU RSB. -Implementation of key metrics
-Collaboration with assurance schemes to appreciate the size of the task of benchmarking and prioritising sustainability challenges.
-Continue collaborative activities with stakeholders to ensure a successful identification of regional/national sustainability priorities. -Agree target outcomes, action plans, initiate metrics development and collaborative stakeholders

3. Understand opportunities to maximise the value of beef from the dairy herd Joint project with the Dairy Working Group
-Identification of the true value of beef from the dairy herd and where farmers could increase their returns by serving this market
-Commission a desktop review of the true sustainability value of beef from the dairy herd
-Finalise report and identify potential work streams that the dairy and beef WG’s could collaboratively pursue.
-Continuation where appropriate of further work streams that would benefit from further development activity.
-Desktop review commissioned and complete -Development work program developed and implemented
