It is so easy to become consumed by our feelings. Life can be overwhelming and negative thoughts often unknowingly creep into our consciousness, colouring our world view. This is why we must be ever vigilant and practice WATCH. Watch our:
WordsActionsThoughtsCharacter Heart.
Having the ability to WATCH or be the silent witness to the unfolding dramas (that may sometimes be our lives), allows us to respond rather than react. We CAN choose to come from a place of mistrust, anger, skepticism, hurt OR we can have a peaceful mind and open heart. At Sathya Sai College (SSC) we teach our students to concentrate on the five human values. We practise sitting silently to ‘tune in’ to our thoughts and understand our emotions. We mindfully identify with the silent witness who is the wise inner one within. We consciously shift our thoughts to positive experiences and focus on the ONENESS that exists in all life. By concentrating on mindful strategies to maintain a peaceful mind, students and staff are forging new pathways and creating new habits of mind. Everyday is an opportunity to become more self aware, to become problem solvers so that we can self-regulate, be resilient, be positive and live in peace and eventually eternal joy.
So, what do you choose to concentrate on? I choose to concentrate on love, hope, faith, laughter, and the pure potential of all to come from a space of understanding and goodwill. I invite you to join me in concentrating on ALL things joyous!

CAL ATKINSDue to the expansion of our college, I will be moving to the Dungay campus at the beginning of Term 4. The development includes Year 12 beginning in Term 4 and a double stream Year 7 in 2021. To sustain this growth, a full time on-campus principal is required. The expansion also requires additional staff and more infrastructure.
Michael Forrester will be on campus at Murwillumbah, full time, as the Deputy Principal.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Sathya Sai College families and friends for the support, trust and love you have shown me over the past 2½ years while working at both campuses. I trust that the same support that has been bestowed on me will be shown to Michael also.
I look forward to seeing our Primary students again when they transfer to the Secondary campus.
Love and light,
Cal Atkins
TERM 3 WEEK 10 2020
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL We were blessed with perfect weather for the Athletics Carnival at our High School last Friday. The students made the most of the day, participating with great enthusiasm in a range of track and field events, whilst the 5-7 year old students had lots of fun with their own event at the Primary School.
It was a little strange without parents in attendance cheering on the athletes, however we all practised the value of acceptance and made the most of the day.
It is always so rewarding to see the Values Education in action at a competitive day such as the Athletics Carnival, with students persevering with challenging events and encouraging each other to do their best. Well done to everyone for making the day enjoyable for all competitors.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Sathya Sai for making the day run so smoothly, and Mr Inglis and students from the High School for marking the running lanes and setting up the events.
Congratulations to the members of Peace House for their effort in winning this year’s Athletics Carnival.
Here are the Age Champions for 2020:

9 Year Champions: Fianaid Ives and Dustin Townsend
10 Year Champions: Ava Marshall and Jesse Harper
11 Year Champions: Manasi Tancredi and Navi Tancredi

TERM 3 WEEK 10 2020
MICHAEL FORRESTER Thank you to all of the students that I have already met who have willingly introduced themselves and embraced me at the Primary School. It was fantastic attending your athletics carnival and seeing sportsmanship, spirit and joy on display.
Also, thank you to the Primary staff who have taken time from their busy schedules to introduce themselves and lend their support to me as I transition into my new role. Most significantly, thank you to Cal for your constant support, guidance and knowledge, I wish you luck with your move to the High School.
I look forward to meeting all parents, carers and members of the broader school community soon. Please do not hesitate to introduce yourselves. With your collaboration, we enable our children to draw out the values within and develop good character.
To begin Term 4, I will be hosting a Zoom assembly with an invitation extended to not only teachers and students, but to parents and carers too. Please join the assembly through this link on Monday the 12th of October, at 8:45am.
To our students (and staff) beginning your holidays, I wish you a safe, happy and relaxing time. Live each day with love at the forefront; love for yourself, others and the world around you. I look forward to seeing each of you bright and refreshed in Term 4.
Michael Forrester
TERM 3 WEEK 10 2020
BOOK CHARACTER PARADE This year’s Book Week will be held in Week 4 of Term 4. The theme this year is Curious Creatures, Curious Minds.
As we do each year, we would love to see all students dress up as a book character. We will be holding this dress up day on the 3rd November.
At the moment we are still uncertain about what the rules will be about parents entering the school. If we are unable to hold a whole school parade, each class will do their own parade which we will film and share with the school community.
So get your thinking caps on and start picking your book character and designing your costume!
