SAWTELL ART GROUP 2015 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The AGM was held on Tuesday 10 March, 2015 at 6.30pm at the Art Centre and was attended by 21
members. Every member was sent a copy of the Minutes of the 2014 AGM, Minutes of the 2015 AGM,
and 2015 Financial Statement.
Members seemed delighted that the Group was back on a sound financial footing again and the
Committee and members who have helped over the last year to raise funds and improve the profile of
the Art Group are to be sincerely congratulated for their efforts.
The new Committee sees a couple of changes as follows:
President Colleen Davies Committee Members
Vice Pres. Rhonda Balding Dawn McInnes Fundraising
Secretary Jeanette Reid George Partos Workshops
Treasurer Pauline Fayle Rob Peddie OH&S
Congratulations and thank you to the new committee members for nominating, we look forward to
working together to achieve another even more prosperous year.
These event were proudly sponsored by Coffs Harbour City Council and Sawtell Art Group Inc.
SENIORS WEEK On Thursday 19
th March we held a Seniors Day
event at the gallery the theme being around
Dementia and the keeping of memories. Our
President, Colleen Davies applied for and received
a grant of $1000 from the Coffs Harbour City
Council so that we could advertise this event.
In the morning we spent a couple of hours
immersed in craft, making bookmarks and books
to hold memories and favorite keepsakes.
In the afternoon we were treated to a very
interesting talk by Dr Andrew Heslop on Dementia,
its onset and treatments. After this we spent some
time with Victoria Jenkins learning deep breathing
and gentle exercises to keep us mobile and active.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and we would
like to thank both of our guest presenters for
donating their time and expertise to our event.
YOUTH WEEK Once again we received a
grant of $450 (thanks to
Colleen) from Coffs Harbour
City Council to defray costs for
this event. We did not have the
turnout that we had hoped for
but those who attended did
have fun. Thank you to Cate
Townsend and Colleen Davies
for organizing this fun day.

“LITTLE TERNS” Group Art Exhibition
We have received an invitation for artists in
our group to participate in a unique
community collaboration to protect the
habitat, nests, eggs, chicks and the breeding
ground of the Little Terns. These birds
migrate to our area annually from the northern
hemisphere and their nesting areas on the
southern beach in Bongil Bongil NP,
Nambucca Heads, Red Rock and Station Creek
are under threat from people, dogs, 4WD’s and
predators.
“Tern-on-Sawtell” Committee are proposing to
hold a group exhibition and are gathering artists
and children artists to be involved in their
community collaborative group exhibition to be
held in Octobert/November 2015 at our Sawtell
Art Group gallery.
They have numerous local artists, NP rangers and
(so far) three local primary schools – Sawtell
Public, Bonville Primary and Bishop Druitt.
If you would like to participate in this
exhibition and are prepared to help
them run the artist space and you
have a CV that you could send to
them urgently to be included in their
Grant Proposal then please email to
Christiana Ferreira at
For more information I have posted
their proposal on our website for you

OUT OF TOWN WORKSHOPS (If you are travelling these may interest you)
IN THE KITCHEN
MILK - If you are making a cuppa and need to open a new carton of milk,
Please write the date on the top of the carton so that others know when it was opened. This will
hopefully avoid people throwing milk away because they don’t know how long it has been there,
BISCUITS – We provide biscuits to have with your cuppa BUT please reseal the plastic container so
they don’t go soft and stale.
GARBAGE – Please try to separate recyclable materials and put them into the yellow bin outside.
Also thank you to those of you who do empty the bins and put new bin liners in.
IN THE CLASSROOM
PAINT PALLETTES – There are a number of these under the sink in the kitchen. We would
appreciate you not using the crockery plates as some of them belong to sets that we keep aside for
“Afternoon Tea Exhibition Openings”.
PAINT RAGS – There is a bin in the bathroom with rag in it for painting purposes.
PAPER TOWELING & TISSUES – Please try to remember to bring some with you as part of your
painting kit. We do provide these but it costs us approximately $50 per month for consumables.
Thank you for sweeping up after your class.
