Manitoba is home to some of the most outstanding sites in the world for concentrations of birds. The importance of these sites to the maintenance of the world’s bird populations is recognized internationally through their designation as Important Bird Areas (IBAs). We need your help finding some key species of birds. If you see any of the birds on this card please contact us at: [email protected]

The Sagemace & Coleman Bay Islands contain a diversity of habitats including shallow alkaline lakes and cattail marshes. Long Island is a very low-lying, grassy island, that is partly rocky and is surrounded by marshes. Deciduous and coniferous forests border Lake Winnipegosis while large expanses of freshwater marsh occur along the lake.
