• Different pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela: the most frequented is the French route, coming into Spain at Roncesvalles, Navarra.

• Thousands of pilgrims from the whole world every year.

• Difficult mountain stage, particularly dangerous when adverse weather conditions.

• Over 50 incidents per year (S&R). 4 casualties in recent years.

SAFER PYRENEES: project’s objectivesSAFER PYRENEES: project’s objectives

The main objective of the project “SAFER PYRENEE” is the improvement of the preparedness for emergencies in the cross border area of the west Pyrenees.

This Objective includes:

1.- Improve the knowledge of the risks, resources and the infrastructuresin border area2.- Improve the effectiveness of the response and operations3.- Improve the operation coordination between the both countries 4.- Improve the population awareness
