Some of the achievements of the last yearLaunched the new name of Stop Abuse For Everyone at the AGM: November 2009. This was needed to better reflect the scope of the work we now do and indicates more clearly what the charity actually does. It reflects the move towards a more holistic approach of supporting the whole family within the wider communities of Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Amended the charity’s Objects in order to widen public benefit by working with men. Reviewed, at an Away Day with involvement of all in the organisation, our Core Values and Strategic Aims to better reflect the wider scope of our work.

Celebrated the achievement of the first award of a Green Flag for Domestic Violence to services in Devon. This included the highest conviction rate in the country achieved by the Specialist Domestic Violence Court in Exeter, where the impact of SAFE’s Independent Domestic Violence Advice workers has been crucial. Developed a Contingency Plan - to cover protracted / unexpected / long-term absences of workers and other unexpected major incidents.

Continued a major review of policies, systems and procedures to better establish and manage the organisation and risks. Recruited a minute secretary to the Management Group

Increased the number of Pattern Changing courses and recruited a Coordinator to help co-run and develop them Established a programme of life skills training for women in the Refuge Established a programme of awareness raising and preventative work in school and colleges in Exeter, East and Mid Devon

Reserves PolicyA note about out total funds: Due to most of our income not being guaranteed Stop Abuse For Everyone operates a Reserves Policy whereby funds not otherwise committed held by the Charity should be the equivalent of 6 months anticipated expenditure in the following financial year (£391,741 for 2010/2011). The balance of funds at 31 March 2010 was £404,331 (2009:£389,831). Much of this (£225,814)) is restricted income which can only be used for specific purposes. We consider that the equivalent of 6 months anticipated resources expended would give Stop Abuse ForEveryone sufficient designated funds to continue our current activities in the event of a significant reduction in funding. This will give Stop Abuse For Everyone sufficient time to start fundraising to replace lost funding, and potentially to start generating additional unrestricted income.
