During 2016, Worldreader is partnering with Abercrombie & Kent to create a once-in-a-lifetime travel opportunity for our major supporters. Please join us on this inaugural safari

and tour of e-reading programs in East Africa!

Over the course of 10 days, you will see your philanthropy in action by visiting Worldreader’s e-reading programs in Tanzania and Kenya, you will meet with community leaders who are pioneering the evolution of education, and travel with Worldreader’s leadership through the entire trip. You will gain a deep understanding of Worldreader’s original purpose and our vision for the future. But, more importantly, you will understand the broader context in which Worldreader fits. In just a few years, digital technology has transformed entire education systems, bringing new information and opportunities into parts of the world that have been under resourced for decades. At the core of this new partnership between Worldreader and Abercrombie & Kent is philanthropy. Like you, Abercrombie & Kent has dedicated funds to advancing this cause. During the trip, you’ll visit some of these programs and even participate in the launch of a new e-reading program. At this full day celebration, you’ll meet hundreds of local students, teachers and parents as the community shares speeches, performances, and a pledge to advance e-reading and education in their day-to-day lives. At other schools on other days, you’ll volunteer to read with children in small groups, observing and participating in a “day in the life” of an e-reading program. And, of course, because it’s Abercrombie & Kent safari, your entire trip will be structured around experiencing the natural splendor of East Africa. You’ll see the incomparable wildlife of the Masai Mara and Serengeti, and enjoy the unparalleled luxury of an Abercrombie & Kent adventure.

WORLDREADER SAFARI IN TANZANIA & KENYA JUNE 27 – JULY 6, 2016

SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY AT THE TIME OF PAYMENT

MONDAY, JUNE 27, 2016 ARRIVE ARUSHA, TANZANIA

Your adventure begins as you arrive into Arusha, Tanzania. After passing through Immigration and Customs you are met by your local Abercrombie & Kent Resident Safari Guide who accompanies you throughout your time in Tanzania. At this time you are transferred by private vehicle to your lodge. The Arusha Coffee Lodge is situated on the Burka Coffee estate, a working coffee plantation spanning some 2,100 acres. The lodge consists of beautifully furnished chalets, built on raised wooden platforms. Each chalet features en suite facilities, including shower, bath, and separate toilets, log fireplaces, private lounges and large balconies overlooking Mount Meru, and the berry laden coffee bushes of the plantation. Accommodation: Arusha Coffee Lodge (Plantation Rooms) TUESDAY, JUNE 28, 2016 ARUSHA / TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK B L D

This morning you visit Ilboru Secondary School, a special learning environment for deaf and disabled youth. A&K Tanzania has a full-time Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP) Coordinator, Shakira Nasser, who serves as your guide for all school visits. AKP has funded construction of both the initial primary school, as well as the newly completed first wing of the secondary school. AKP has also facilitated introduction of the e-readers and associated teacher training, etc. Worldreader has seen the special impact that e-readers have with disabled children and is currently exploring ways to deepen and scale this impact. You’ll learn how digital reading can be appropriated to help children with a range of challenges, from blindness to cerebral palsy.

This morning has been designed as an opportunity for the group to gain insight into the challenges facing special needs learners, their teachers and integration into mainstream society. Following a guided tour of the facilities, a special “digital library discussion forum” commences, with invited guests from the Ministry of Education, school board and parent-teacher association.

Page 4: SAFARI + SCHOOL TOUR IN TANZANIA & KENYA

During the launch of any new e-reading program, Worldreader gathers hundreds (sometimes thousands) of community members to celebrate the new program and commit to its long-term advancement. Without this level of community buy-in, Worldreader could not address the specific challenges or build on the success of any single program. The teachers, parents, and local education authorities are a crucial part of any e-reading program. AKP funds the provision of lunch for the children at the school. Today, group members have an opportunity to participate in the preparation and serving of a traditional school lunch, as an interactive way of getting to know the spirit of the school. Following lunch, you depart to Sanctuary Swala Camp, enjoying a game drive en route. Located at the southwestern side of Tarangire National Park, Sanctuary Swala Camp’s large tents are built on raised decks under umbrella acacia trees overlooking the Gurusi Floodplains. The layout is very open with resident herds of impala often grazing in camp. (“Swala” is the Swahili word for antelope.) A library of wildlife books is available for guests’ use. Askaris are available for escorting guests to and from tents along paths, which are lit by hurricane lamps. Accommodation: Sanctuary Swala Camp (Pavilions) WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 2016 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK B L D

This morning you visit Gijedabung Primary School as well as Mwikantsi Primary School. Conservation is a major focus given the school's proximity to one of Tanzania's most threatened parks. For the children, getting to the schoolhouse can involve

crossing miles of bush on foot, often accompanied by a father or elder brother to guard against predators. Despite the difficulties of the daily trek, few children arrive tardy, as an education is considered too important to be taken for granted. Similar to the “digital library discussion forum” the day before, a sit down discussion is arranged with the school teachers and traditional authority (“chief”) of the village. The focus of this conversation has been designed around the conservation content included in the e-readers; it’s an opportunity to hear from communities literally “living on the edge of wilderness” about their views concerning living with wildlife, and how conservation plays into their vision of the future for their kids. Conservation content is just one example of a core value of any Worldreader program: local and culturally relevant books. The Worldreader library now features over 30,000 titles in over 45 languages from over 200 international publishers. Compare the books on a Worldreader Kindle in Tanzania versus one you see in Kenya and you’ll instantly understand how this incredibly diverse library allows Worldreader to provide very targeted collections of books for a student of a certain age, grade, reading level and interests.

Later this afternoon you enjoy a game drive in this wonderful park, studded with giant baobab trees, and explore a wide variety of landscapes. The largest herds of elephant in Africa wander through the grasslands with herds reaching up to 400 in number, in addition to eland, giraffe, waterbuck and the park’s special features, the fringe-eared oryx and the Greater and Lesser kudu. Tarangire is also renowned for its tree-climbing pythons that live near the swamps. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded in the park, and it has the highest recorded number of breeding bird species of any habitat in the world, including the exquisite Fischer’s and Black-cheeked Lovebirds. Accommodation: Sanctuary Swala Camp (Pavilions) THURSDAY, JUNE 30, 2016 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK / SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK B L D This morning you are met and transferred to the Kuro airstrip to board a flight to Serengeti National Park. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to your camp. Buffalo Luxury Camp offers a unique combination of luxurious accommodation, extraordinary wildlife, the exhilarating freedom to participate in guided game and nature walks as well as bush dinners, the rare opportunity to go on night game drives and a fascinating insight into the culture of the local Maasai tribesmen and women. This afternoon you embark on a game drive. The Serengeti is a vast region that has been a protected animal refuge since 1929 and maintains a commitment to its preservation. The name Serengeti creates powerful images of one of the last remaining wildlife spectacles on earth. Those lucky enough to visit this wilderness area come away with memories of vast herds of antelope feeding on the plains. Rivers flow through the park, providing habitats for a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles. Accommodation: Buffalo Luxury Camp (Tents) FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2016 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK B L D

This morning you set out to visit a Maasai Mobile School. To reach a nomadic people, the delivery of school services must include creativity, such as mobile schools.

Later this afternoon you enjoy a game drive. The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth, where climate, vegetation and fauna have barely changed in the past million years. Serengeti National Park combines a unique diversity of habitats supporting 30 species of large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds. The extensive grasslands in the south are interspersed with kopjes, the savannah in the center is scattered with acacia trees and to the north lie wooded grasslands.

Page 6: SAFARI + SCHOOL TOUR IN TANZANIA & KENYA

In addition to the “Big Five,” the lesser-known “Little Five” - ant lion, rhino beetle, leopard tortoise, buffalo weaver and elephant shrew - may be seen peeking from behind stones or near-hidden amid acacia branches. Other Serengeti residents include the bat-eared fox, olive baboon, crested porcupine and black-tipped mongoose. Return to your camp through a golden sunset at the end of a truly wonderful and unforgettable day. Accommodation: Buffalo Luxury Camp (Tents) SATURDAY, JULY 2, 2016 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK / MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE, KENYA B D

This morning you are met and transferred to the airstrip to board a flight to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya via Migori. After passing through Customs and Immigration, you are met by your local A&K Resident Safari Guide who accompanies you throughout your time in Kenya. At this time you are transferred by private vehicle to your camp. Abercrombie & Kent mobile camping safaris continue to redefine the original tented safari with modern-day advantages, all the while staying true to the romantic ambience of the days of Blixen, Hemingway and Roosevelt. Mobile Camping, A&K style, is the most authentic form of safari, a true immersion into the sights and sounds of the bush. After settling into your exclusive mobile tented camp within the Masai Mara, the northern extension of the Serengeti, you immerse yourself in the wild during an afternoon game drive. In the Mara you find the greatest concentration of species in Kenya. The delicate ecosystem of the Mara is the focus of world attention in a major conservation effort to preserve one of Africa's last true strongholds of game. Game viewing is never dull in the Mara, and patience is often rewarded with astonishing sightings. This vast, open space is unique, offering inspiration and lifelong memories at every turn.

Accommodation: Exclusive A&K Masai Mara Mobile Camp (Tents) SUNDAY, JULY 3, 2016 MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE B L D Spend your day in the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game viewing. The Mara’s 583 square miles of open savannah, woodlands and tree-lined rivers create an ecosystem that supports huge numbers of bird and mammal species. The western border of the park is the spectacular Siria Escarpment, and together with the acacia dotted plains, creates scenery of stunning beauty. See lions lazing in the sunshine; topi standing sentry on termite mounds; and graceful giraffes. Cheetahs and leopards are also regularly sighted, and you may even spot rhinos.

Page 7: SAFARI + SCHOOL TOUR IN TANZANIA & KENYA

In place of a morning game drive, you may choose to partake of an optional hot air balloon ride (excursion is not included in the program cost and is based on availability and weather conditions), basking in the stillness as you float above the plains, the forest and the rivers of the Masai Mara. Accommodation: Exclusive A&K Masai Mara Mobile Camp (Tents) MONDAY, JULY 4, 2016 MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE B L D

A&K Kenya has a full-time AKP Coordinator, Sarah Liaram, who serves as your guide for today’s school visit. Sarah is a Maasai woman from the local area and, through her passion and commitment to her community, manages AKP initiatives as wide-ranging as women’s micro-finance, conservation clubs, school construction and the introduction of e-readers. This morning you have a chance to experience, first hand, the depth of Sarah’s work, including a visit to schools who have embraced the digital libraries. The schools are located in a rural, isolated environment for a marginalized population living on the edge of the Mara escarpment. AKP supports several schools in the region and the plan is to ensure the group is present for the launch of a new e-reader program! Afterwards you pay a visit to a Maasai Village. The Masai Mara is home to many members of the colorful Maasai tribe who may be seen around the borders of the park - morans (warriors) loping across the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders grouped under a tree discussing matters of the day.

Later you enjoy an evening with the Maasai Elders. As one of the world’s most famous nomadic tribes, the Maasai have sustained cultural traditions through a resilient, strident, commitment to their cultural heritage. The oral traditions that instill cultural pride are sustained around campfires to this day. Integral to Maasai life and culture is their relationship to wildlife. The Maasai elders share “the old stories” about wildlife that have been used for generations to convey conservation messages steeped in Maasai tradition. It is hoped that this tailor made exchange of life stories, as told around the campfire, serves to inform the value of the conservation content included in the e-readers. Enjoy a lovely farewell dinner before returning to your camp. Accommodation: Exclusive A&K Masai Mara Mobile Camp (Tents)

TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2016 MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE / NAIROBI B L

This morning you are met and transferred to the airstrip to board a flight to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to The Carnivore restaurant for lunch. The Carnivore is, as the name suggests, a meat eater’s paradise and this open-air restaurant provides a strikingly different, and delicious, eating experience. The focal point of the main restaurant is the ‘roasting pit’ where a staggering array of meat is roasted on huge metal spears over charcoal, then brought to the table and carved straight onto piping hot cast iron plates in front of you. There is also an extensive vegetarian menu available for ‘herbivores’. Waiters continue their rounds until you admit defeat and lower the flag provided on your table. Served with fresh salads, vegetable dishes and exotic sauces, with secret recipes, you can eat as much prime meat as you like, but you should save room for the wide range of desserts, huge mugs fulls of steaming Kenyan coffee and liqueurs.

Following lunch you continue on to your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure. Probably Kenya's most famous hotel - and certainly its oldest – Fairmont The Norfolk has been drawing the rich and famous to its hallowed doors since they first opened on Christmas Day 1904. In many respects, Nairobi grew up around the Fairmont The Norfolk, which occupies a central but quiet location opposite the National Theatre. The comfortable rooms circle a large inner garden laden with flowering shrubs and heavy with birdsong. The hotel's renowned restaurants offer delectable dining in elegant surroundings, while the front terrace is a popular location for watching modern Nairobi go by.

Accommodation: Fairmont The Norfolk (Fairmont Rooms) WEDNESDAY, JULY 6, 2016 NAIROBI / KIBERA / NAIROBI / DEPART B

In Nairobi you’ll meet Worldreader’s local Impact Team, including its leader Joan Mwachi-Amolo who will tell you first-hand about the successes and learnings of Worldreader Kenya over the past years. More importantly, she will share with you her vision of how e-reading will continue to change the landscape of educational opportunities in her home country. This morning Joan will join you on a visit to Kibera, the informal settlement (“slum”) infamous for its overcrowding, poverty and poor sanitation. During your time here you experience the realization of delivering education to children in one of the largest informal settlements in Africa. Specifically, you will visit the inspirational Kibera School for Girls, where Worldreader launched a program in 2015 that compliments the many innovative programs offered at KSG. The school is really a community center, offering everything from health and safety services, to micro-loans and entrepreneur training. You will spend an afternoon touring these facilities and understanding why a school like KSG must go far beyond offering education to address the very complex issues of a slum environment. You’ll also have an opportunity to sit and read with the students, and maybe even kick around a soccer ball outside.

Page 9: SAFARI + SCHOOL TOUR IN TANZANIA & KENYA

Following your time in Kibera, you return to your hotel where dayrooms are available for your convenience. Later this evening your adventure comes to an end as you are met and transferred by private vehicle to the airport in preparation for your homebound flight. Accommodation: Fairmont The Norfolk (Dayrooms - Fairmont Rooms) A Note About Meals Throughout your journey, enjoy an array of both exotic and familiar breakfast and lunch dishes served buffet style.
