LM and L4 Digital Microwave Radio CFM Product description SAF Tehnika is offering 2 modifications of radio in CFM product family - LM and L4. The LM Universal Radio Unit is designed for operation at fixed bit rates of 8, 16 or 34 Mbps and is available in 13, 15, 18, 23 GHz frequency band. The L4 Radio Unit is designed for operation at fixed bit rate of 4 Mbps and is available in 13, 15, and 23 GHz frequency band. L4 radio is low cost modification of universal CFM LM series radio and is appropriate for low capacity economical applications. New radio is characterized by ease of installation thanks to radio's lightweight and compact design. It provides many features making it a perfect building block in any network: full band width coverage with the single radio for 13, 15 and 23 GHz versions, 2 subbands for 18 GHz; wide tuning range of Tx signal level (from –10 dBm to +20 dBm) making the radio suitable for short, midrange and long link installations; wide choice of Indoor Units offering fine tuned combinations of capacity and interfaces for specific applications. IDUs are providing E1, V.35 and 10, 10/100 Ethernet ports; convenient and efficient management system provided through multiple interfaces of the Indoor Units, LCD display/keypad, RS-232 terminal port, Ethernet port; radio is offered with comprehensive choice of adapted antennas: 25 cm Lens-Horn, 30 cm, 60 cm and 120 cm parabolic. All the antennas provide the capability to mount the radio directly on antenna without any accessories; the change of radio capacity is performed via easy and convenient change of capacity/interface specific Indoor Units. CFM features a fully synthesized transceiver making frequency setup or changes in the field a simple task. CFM utilizes four level frequency shift keying (4FSK) modulation. A convenient and modern management system has been created toprovide complete configuration, status and alarm reporting statisticsand diagnostics of the equipment in operation locally and remotely.Remote access to far end terminal can be organized through maintraffic channel or analog line modem connected to serial port of the managementcontroller. The CFM management system utilizes Web, SNMP and Telnet/Terminalinterfaces, it is based on TCP/IP protocol as a transport mechanism formanagement information traffic.

The CFM radio (ODU) is fully software controlled device. ODU could be configuredfrom any of Indoor Units in multiple ways employing following tools of themanagement system:• LCD display and keypad of the Indoor Unit;• terminal attached to the serial port of the IDU;• Telnet terminal over TCP/IP channel (via Ethernet or service channel to far

end terminal).

ODU could be monitored via all aforementioned interfaces plus:• from Web page (over TCP/IP channel, via Ethernet or service channel to far

end terminal);• using SNMP (over TCP/IP channel, via Ethernet or service channel to far end

terminal).

The ODU configuration information is stored in ODU management controller.
