Changes Are Coming!
Are you curious? Have you been guessing? Well it won’t be long before we have the “new and improved” club house. It has been a long time coming but it is almost done. Thanks to Joanne Mickett for getting it done. Thanks to those who have been patient with the closure of some areas and the interruption of our routines.
We are planning a community Thanksgiving dinner,
so be sure to read the poster and get your tickets from Marge Glass. All residents and guests must have a ticket so the committee can prepare. Gather with friends and family to decorate your table to express the holiday as we give thanks for all we have… freedoms, family, friends, a supportive community and so much more.
We welcome back more of our winter residents and
encourage you to join in the continuing and upcoming activities. We also welcome and encourage new residents to explore the many activities in Saddle Oak Club.
This month we will start to gather candidates for
the Board of Directors for the Home Owners Association (HOA). Please consider the opportunity to serve, plan and lead our community. Each HOA member has experiences, talents and opportunities that can be shared with the community. The election will be held at the February General HOA meeting.
Judy Lott, Saddle Oak Club HOA President

THANK YOU
From my heart, I would like to personally thank everyone in Saddle Oak
for all the caring prayers, the visits and the cards, your following my
progress on Facebook, the well-wishes and the help you showered on me
and Diane after my motorcycle accident in April. As you can see, I am
back, enjoying my new bike. As I ride now, your loving concerns, what
you have all said and shown me, will always bear on my mind and guide
me safely home again.
To all bikers here in SOC, we ride on Tuesdays at 9:00 am for breakfast,
and on Thursdays at 10:00 am for lunch. We meet at my house. Any
questions, call Leo at 352-208-0681. Get your motor running, let’s head out on the highway, and look for some adventure. Let’s go!
FMO News & Update for November 2015
The District 13 Federation of Manufactured Home Owners of Fla. (FMO) meeting that was
held on September 23rd
at the Saddle Oak Club clubhouse truly was one of the largest
meetings we have ever had! People came from all over Marion County to hear our guest
speaker, Jerry Durham, FMO Vice- President discuss the newest additions to our Fla
.Statute 723 that became law on July 1, 2015.
A great deal of preparation was needed for this meeting, and I would like to extend
thanks to everyone who helped before and during the meeting, including everyone who
brought all the delicious refreshments. You are greatly appreciated!
A Special Thanks - to Paulette McNally for the special decorations on all the tables and
around the room – it was beautiful! To Harry Fillmore and Tom Bell for greeting people
as they entered SOC and directing them to the clubhouse. To Jo Gearin, Maryann
O’Connell and Pat Hodgson for all the work they did in the kitchen to keep plenty of
cake, goodies and beverages on the counters for everyone. To Judy Lott, our HOA
President, for helping to coordinate extra volunteers. To Michelle Martin for helping to
greet people as they arrived and make them feel welcome. To Eric Hoiaas for helping at
the registration table along with Bob Bull. And, a special thanks to Lee Justice and Jon
Dugas who are our ever-faithful FMO 50/50 coordinators.
By the time you read this, there will be only one more FMO meeting in 2015. Since Bob
and I will be stepping down at the end of the year, we are actively seeking a very special
person who will be dedicated to continuing the District 13 FMO leadership into 2016 and
beyond. It is even more important than ever for homeowners to become a member of
FMO at this time so you can stay informed about all that is happening around the state
and know where you can turn for help when needed. FMO News is sent to each member
on a bi-monthly basis with vital information for manufactured homeowners who live on
rented land.
Plan to attend our final meeting for 2015 . . .

SUNSHINE REPORT by Nancy & Erik Hoiaas
Hello Saddle Oak Residents... Welcome back to the "snowbirds" who are returning. We have been here about 5-1/2 years and only now getting involved with doing
something for others... That really means we need your support in notifying us (509-7034) who is sick, in hospitals, in rehabs, etc. We don't want to miss anyone. There are a coupleof gifts included as well as cards and follow-ups for those who are sick. However, we honoryour privacy should you desire to be left alone.Saddle Oak is an unusual retirement community in that we desire to reach out to help our neighbors through difficult times, especially illness. It's no fun being alone during these times. Please help us by keeping us informed. As of October 15:
TONY PACE is in Hawthorne Village, Room 612B. His knee is healing slowly. He would liketo hear from you and visitors are welcome.
FRED CONGDON could use some encouragement. Perhaps a call, a card, a visit. He's not always up to a lot of activity so a call to Phyllis before a visit would help.
JOHN DONNELLY spent a couple more days at the VA in Gainesville. More care is being scheduled closer to home. They appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness during John's illness.
BILL RAWNSLEY is in St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH with a blood clot in his lung. They plan to travel to Saddle Oak as soon as his health permits.
LUCILLE ALLARD... had a seizure up north andwas hospitalized. Tests have been done, but it is still not known what is wrong. They have returned to SOC and Lucille is making arrangements to see a neurologist.

APPLEFEST
2015
The Ocala R/C Flyers Club recently held an event not far from here. This location touts its own little airstrip on a lovely expanse of field for exhibiting and flying these awesome models. The masterpiece plane was the F-16 jet, seen here! I never saw anything like it. The sight, sound and speed of it flying, the skill of the pilot to show it off, the beautiful weather. For those interested, the website is www.ocalaflyingmodelclub.com .
Is this

dreams of
flight begin?
Recently I took a day trip to the newly-created Florida Horse Park Pavilion. Not only was it my first real introduction to the horse industry here in Ocala, but there I found a magazine titled Equestrian Magazine (see below). It is the official publication of the United States Equestrian Federation, and offers exclusive competition coverage and a look inside the lifestyles of the horse sport in the United States. How many SOCers realize that both Editor-in-Chief, Noelle Vander Brink, and Publisher, Bill Vander Brink, are both SOCers! To cap it off, imagine my utter surprise when who should show up and sit at our very table were the Vander Brinks. It was indeed a perfect day trip, thanks to Lee Justice and Jean Dugas.

Dia e A derso : I a t e e e NOT se i g! I a e e e ei g stood up o the ou te i LA D y Goods Store so the clerks could look at the clothes my grandmother made. Having something like that done to you does
make you want to sew!
Joa Bar er: I sewed with my grandmother who was a seamstress and a quilter. I got my first sewing machine –
a Singer 403A at the age of 10 and I still have that same model today. I made and sold Barbie Doll clothes, made
my own high school clothes and made all of my Xmas gifts. I usually make my own patterns. I joined the SOC
Quilters because I love to sew and wanted to make quilts.
Na y Bur s: My sewing started in Home EC and continues today. I find great joy in taking fabric and turning it
into something useful and beautiful.
A e Carlyle: Terri Dolan told me about a quilting class that she taught and asked me if I wanted to join. I went,

then. It is a very relaxing past time.
Dia e Kea h: At the age of 13, I worked in a fabric store owned by my aunt and uncle in Hamden, Connecticut. I
took care of straightening fabric, threads, and kept everything in order. That is where my love for sewing began.
Bo ie Leahy : I never quilted before till I moved to Saddle Oak 3 years ago. It looked like something to do. I made
my first quilt last year for my daughter's Xmas present. Carolyn and Rita helped me with quilting and Trina helped

who have served our country so proudly and so bravely.
They Did Their Share
On Veteran's Day we honor Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors, They deserve our admiration.
Some of them were drafted; Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday; For some it's been many years;
In the jungle or the desert, On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned To produce a victory.
Some came back; some didn't. They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk; All of them did their share.
No matter what the duty, For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives, For duties mundane and gory.
Let every veteran be honored; Don't let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died; What they did, we can't repay.
We owe so much to them, Who kept us safe from terror,
