Desafíos constructivos
Es importante destacar que este proyecto
se construyó en un contexto de mucha
interferencia, en las inmediaciones de una
mina en operación como Reservas Norte.
“Gracias al apoyo que ellos nos prestaron
y al desempeño del equipo de construcción
del proyecto, la habilitación de la sala de
chancado desde el inicio de la excavación
hasta el término de las obras civiles y
una grúa de 100 toneladas al interior de la
mina subterránea, siendo esto un hito clave
dada la envergadura de este equipo. Con
ella realizaron montajes y maniobras que
aseguraron la obra.
Cabe señalar que se trata de un chanca
-
dor giratorio modelo ThyssenKrupp 54x75,
equipo que opera remotamente desde el
Centro Integrado de Operaciones (CIO),
ubicado en Rancagua, a 50 kilómetros de la
resenta cerca de un 20% de la producción
total de la División.
La sala de chancado implicó excavar
16.782 m³ de material, equivalente a unas
50 mil toneladas, esto para habilitar cuatro
naves (descarga de camiones, chancador,
servicios y tolva de descarga). El uso de
dos tipos de grúas dentro de la sala de
chancado permitió tener avances que
mejoraron su eficiencia.
2015, un hito para la División El Teniente
y un precedente para futuros proyectos,
como el proyecto Recursos Norte que
también considerará Chancado en Interior
Mina.
Las excavaciones fueron de gran
complejidad por la calidad de la roca
enfrentada. Respecto a las obras civiles y
montaje del chancador, un elemento fun
-damental para los montajes fue incorporar

en agotamiento de la Mina
Teniente 4 Sur y Pipa Norte,
dentro de la misma división.
Así, Dacita corresponde a uno de los
últimos proyectos ejecutados por Codelco
antes del inicio de la explotación del Nuevo
Nivel Mina (NNM). De acuerdo a la minera
estatal chilena, la incorporación de Dacita,
que tiene una vida útil hasta el año 2026,
permitirá a El Teniente sumar 39 millones
de toneladas de reservas, con una ley de
1,17% y un aporte de 17 mil toneladas
por día.
La inversión total del proyecto, consid
-
erando la mina, la excavación de la caverna
del chancador y su montaje alcanzó a los
300 millones de dólares aproximadamente.
Los trabajos se iniciaron en noviembre de
2013 y contemplaron la construcción de 18
kilómetros de túneles, el montaje de 570
toneladas de estructuras, la construcción de
dos nuevos sistemas de traspaso y casi un
kilómetro de nueva vía férrea.
Sala de chancado
La mina es reconocida por su buena
ley, pero lo que dificultó su construcción
fueron, desde el inicio, las características
del macizo rocoso y su fragmentación, que
constituyeron uno de los principales de
-safíos para su explotación. “Se llevó a cabo
una serie de estudios de ingeniería, análisis
de alternativas y métodos constructivos
para finalmente definir la infraestructura
requerida para su operación”, destaca Julio
Cuevas, Gerente de Proyectos de división El
Teniente.
El proyecto implementó en el interior de
la mina una sala de chancado, controlada
de forma remota desde la ciudad de Ranca
-gua, con una altura de 56 metros, similar a
la de un edificio de 15 pisos, que cuenta con
una nave de descarga de camiones Supra
y Caterpillar, nave del chancador, nave de
servicios y tolva de descarga, junto con
dos buzones por donde el mineral desci
-ende hasta el Ferrocarril Teniente 8, para
finalmente salir a la superficie a través del
nuevo cruzado ferroviario construido por el
proyecto. Cabe destacar que su habilitación
supuso remover el equivalente a 50 mil
toneladas de cerro.
El nuevo chancador no sólo procesa la
producción de Dacita, sino también la de
otros sectores del actual nivel de explotac
-ión de El Teniente, llegando hasta las 40 mil
toneladas diarias de material, lo que rep
-
montaje tardó casi 23 meses, cumpliendo
con los plazos inicialmente planificados”,
detalla Julio Cuevas.
Uno de los grandes desafíos técnicos fue
la ejecución de la Sala de Chancado en un
período de dos años. La excavación de la
sala comenzó en octubre de 2013, el desar -
rollo de las obras civiles se inició durante
2014 y el montaje y puesta en operación del
equipo chancador finalizó a mediados del
