XL Tower Office

The project objective was to create our own Interior Design

Office with a full complement of design staff spaces infused with

our own personal taste and the influence of the contemporary

architectural style of the existing building.

The XL Tower is a mixed use building located in the Business

Bay District of Duabi, U.A.E. The challenge was to reflect the

building elliptical curtain wass without literally

mimicking it.

The design solution was to generate a pivot point within the

interior space that would radiate an array of walls and decor

while addressing exterior views and inter-office

adjacencies.

requirementsthatintermingledthedesigner’sculturalbackgroundwithSouthFlorida’s

enviroment.

ThedesignsolutionwasaLEEDplatinumresidencethatwasbasedontheresearchof

historicalPerisanarchitecturalstylesthatofferedclimatecontrolsforaharsh,hotand

airdenvironmentthatwereadaptedtoSouthFlorida’shotandhumidclimate.

The technology and materials used reduced the carbon footprint by lowering

maintenancecostoverthelifecycleofthestructure.Theexteriorandinteriordesignof

thehomeintgratedtradtionalPersianinfluences.

Theprincipleofhealingdefinedwithinthefiveelementsofwood,fire,earth,metaland

waterwereappliedthroughthedesign.

TheexistinglongrectangularbuildinglocatedalongtheBiscaynecorridorpresented

challangesduetotheplacementofloadbearingwallsandthenarrowproportionsof

thespace.

Thedesigndolutionwastoscaledowntheexistingconditionswithasimilarvocabulary

ofjuxtaposedrectangularforms.

Theprojectobjectivewas tocreateaHerbalTeaCafewithopenandfixedseating

areas,aservicebar,manager’sofficeandretaildisplays.

The challenge was to create defined zones with in a program with no defintive

boundaries. The design solution created various focal points through the use of

cuvilinearretaildisplays,floorpatternsandcascadingceilingtreatmentsthatintegrated

intofixedseating.
