In Abu Ya`la, narrative no. 3118, this narrative has  been reported as under:      ﻓﻘﺮﺏ  ﻧﲔ   ﻴﻪ   ﺻﻠ    ﺿ  ﺍﷲ    ﺮﺏ  ﺑﻴﺘ    ﻋﻦ       ﺑﺴﻢ    ﻋﻤﻦ     ﺍﻟ. ‘The Prophet (pbuh) sacrificed two horned beautiful rams. When he approached the first, he said: “In the name of God; My God [we received this] from You and [we sacrifice this] for You; this is [an offering] from Muhammad and his family.” And when he approached the second, he said: “In the name of God; My God [we received this] from You, and [we sacrifice this] for You; this is [an offering] from all those who hold you as one, from among my followers.’ In Ahmad ibn Hanbal, narrative no. 27234, this narrative has been reported as under:       ﺭﺳ  ﺍﻥﻗﺮ ﻴﻨ   ﺮﻯ ﺍﺷ  ﺿ     ﻴﻪ   ﻼﺓ  ﺋﻢ     ﻨﺎ    ﻠﺤ   ﻴﺪﺘﻮ ﺑﺎ           ﺪﻳﺔ ﺑﺎ        ﺑﻨ ﺴﻪ ﻴﺬ  ﺑﺎ ﺗﻰ  ﺑﺎﻨﻬ   ﻳﺎ  ﻴﻌ. ‘[It is reported] that when the Prophet would decide on offering a sacrifice on the Eid day, he would purchase two healthy, horned and beautiful rams. Then, when he would have offered the Eid prayers and addressed the gathering, one of the rams would be brought to him, while he would be standing at the place of the prayer. He would slaughter it himself with a knife and would say: “My God, this is on behalf of all my followers, who bear witness to your oneness and  bear witness that I have delivered [your message].” Then the second ram would be brought to him and he would slaughter it himself and would say: “My God, this is from Muhammad and from his family.” Then he would feed all the poor with the meat of the two rams and he and his family would also eat of their meat.’

 وقرب اآلخر فقال بسم اهللا   عن حممد وأهل بيته بسم اهللا اللهم منك ولك هذا

.اللهم منك ولك هذا عمن وحدك من أميت

‘The Prophet (pbuh) sacrificed two horned beautiful rams. In Bayhaqi, narrative no. 18827, this narrative has been reported as under:  موجوءين  عظيمني  أقرنني  أملحني  بكبشني  أ  وسلم  عليه  اهللا  صلى  النيب أن

 فقال  أضجع اآلخر:فأضجع أحدمها  عن حممد بسم اهللا واهللا أكرب اللهم هذا

 عن حممد وأمته ممن شهد لك بالتوحيد وشهد  فقال بسم اهللا واهللا أكرب اللهم هذا

.يل بالبالغ فذحبه

‘[It is reported] that the Prophet (pbuh) was brought two beautiful, horned and castrated rams [onthe day of Eid]. He laid one on the ground and said: “In the name of God and God indeed is thegreatest. My God, this is from Muhammad.” Then he laid the second on the ground and said: “In

the name of God and God indeed is the greatest. My God, this is from Muhammad and from allthose of his followers who bear witness of your oneness and bear that I have delivered [yourmessage].’

In addition to the foregoing narratives, anotherslightly variant narrative as reported in AbuDawood, narrative no. 2795, is as under: 

 موجئني  أملحني  أقرنني  كبشني  الذبح  يوم  وسلم  عليه  اهللا  صلى  النيب فلماذبحوجههما قال إين وجهت وجهي للذي فطر السماوات واألرض على ملة إبراهيم 

 هللا رب العاملني ال   ونسكي وحمياي ومما  من املشركني إن صال  أنا  وما حنيفا

شريك له وبذلك أمرت وأنا من املسلمني اللهم منك ولك عن حممد وأمته باسم 

 ذبح .اهللا واهللا أكرب

‘The Prophet (pbuh) slaughtered two horned, beautiful and castrated rams. When he laid themdown in the direction [of the Ka`bah], he said: “I turn my face strictly towards the originator ofthe heavens and the earth, on the path of Abraham, who was completely concentrated towardsGod and I am not a polytheist. Indeed my prayer and my sacrifice; my life and my death are allfor the One God, the Lord of the Whole world, who has no one as a sharer [in his rights]. This iswhat I have been ordained [to declare] and I am among those who submit to Him. My God, fromyou and did we receive this and for you do we offer this on behalf of Muhammad and his

followers. In the name of God and God, indeed, is the greatest.” After saying this, he slaughteredthe rams.’
