Christmas Hymns from the Cathedral In commemoration of the reopening of the

Cathedral of John the Baptist in Paterson, NJ, the musicians there created a Christmas Carol CD with the proceeds from its sale going to the Cathedral for the purpose of serving the poor, homeless and the needy. The CD contains eight popular Christmas hymns for the fee of $12.50 payable by check via the order form located in your church office and/or lobby – or by calling Tom Kieren at 973-214-6473 or email: [email protected] This commemorative CD seems ideal for Christmas gift giving for family and friends during the Christmas season, not to mention the

- Weekly Reflections“HIS WORD TODAY” by Rev. William J. Reilly

Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary TimeNovember 12, 2017

“‘Go instead to the merchants and buy some oil for yourselves.’ While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the doors were locked. Afterwards the others came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us.’ But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

How often we hear the expression ‘this is a wakeup call.’ It might call us to study harder, begin a healthier life style, or even to express gratitude for escaping an accident or tragedy.

The parable of Jesus, who many have read this year, is directed to me today. How ready and prepared am I to accompany the Lord, who is walking with me today. The lamp oil is God’s grace. Is it burning in me, at this moment? If the battery is low, where can I have it recharged? God’s grace we find in the sacraments.

How often we have been offered the example of a door, as opening the door of our hearts to the Lord, or He Himself knocking at the door wanting to enter. He is the gatekeeper. A door allows entrance to another place.  Don’t put off applying the parallel to your own spiritual life. It is my wakeup call.

Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible

Every single one of us wants to be happy. And the great news is, God wants you to be happy, too. God loves you and has an amazing plan for your life. He wants to give you the happiness and peace you desire. God meets with us, and reveals his remarkable plan for our lives in the Bible.

If you want to know God’s plan for your life and would like to have a deeper relationship with him and a better understanding of your faith, then I invite you to join us for Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible, began November 1, 2017. Weekly times are 7:30 to 9:00 pm.You will not only benefit personally from being part of this study; you will also help to bring about a profound renewal in our parish as we all grow closer to Christ.

Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible helps you uncover the story woven throughout Scripture, so you can get the “big picture” of the Bible and understand what it’s all about. The complexity of the Bible is simplified through an easy-to-follow narrative approach, and an ingenious color-coded Bible Timeline Chart. This Chart helps you to follow the story that ties all of Scripture together and makes it easy to understand the Bible.

The study includes eight half-hour videos presented by Jeff Cavins. Jeff will guide you through
