I want to thank the members of the eighth grade class from our parish school, East Boston Central Catholic, for presenting us with the live nativity

this weekend. I am always so very proud of our stu-dents and ask you to pray for them and the entire staff at E.B.C.C.S. As Christmas approaches, I also want to take the op-portunity to thank each of you for the blessing you have been to me over the past twelve years. I thank God each and every day that I have been your pas-tor. My Christmas wish is that God will continue to bless me with many more years here at Sacred Heart. We have done so much together and now together we will await the coming of the greatest gift, Jesus Christ. I encourage each of you to take a few mo-ments and tell those around you how much you ap-preciate them and love them. That is the best gift that you could give them this year. May God con-tinue to show His love and mercy upon us all in these days leading up to the birth of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Sacraments

Baptism:Baptism:Baptism:Baptism: The sacrament is celebrated each Saturday. The following documents are required at the time of registering for a child’s baptism. • Original Birth Certificate • If the family lives outside of the parish, a Letter

of Permission from the pastor of their parish. • Confirmation Certificates for the Godparents. Marriage:Marriage:Marriage:Marriage: The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between bap-tized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. Arrangements for the sacrament should be made at least six months in advance. The following documents are required: • Baptismal and Confirmation certificates for both. • A Marriage Preparation Certificate. • A Marriage License to be handed in at the time

of the Wedding Rehearsal.

Worth repeating Worth repeating Worth repeating Worth repeating We are coming to “crunch time” before Christmas. Rushing to get last minute gifts and preparing over indulgent menus. Last year, I printed in this col-umn, the refrain from a Christmas song written by the brother of an inmate at Old Colony, Charles “Chickie” Noble Harris:

“Ding, dong hear the bells ring, Because of Mother Mary we have a new King. Ding, dong hear the bells chime, Because of Baby Jesus we have Christmas time.”

Tu, pastore d'Israele, ascolta, seduto sui cherubini, risplendi.

Meet Fr. Vin −The Gift of Family

As the pastor of three parishes in Dorchester and Mattapan, Fr. Vin’s responsibilities are extraordinary. While his daily work is a source of great joy, it’s the love and devotion of a special sister named Connie that restores his spirit.

When Fr. Vin’s parents passed away, he and his sister Eileen became the sole guardians of their disabled sister. For Fr. Vin, being a brother and a priest for Connie is an immense blessing. The unconditional love that he receives from Connie—especially at the end of a busy day— continues to fill his heart with gratitude.

Fr. Vin selflessly dedicates his life in service to others. This Christmas, show your gratitude with a gift that cares for Fr. Vin and the health and well-being of all the priests who faithfully serve our Archdiocese of Boston.

Text the word PRIEST to 56512 or make a gift through your parish collection at Christmas Mass.

Thank you for your generous support of the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust.

“A priest, whoever he may be, is always another Christ.”

-Saint Josemaría Escrivá
