Lord, when your glory appears, my joy will be full.
0132 Sacred Heart Parish Sunday, November 6, 2016
What better way to GIVE THANKS than to GIVE BACK?
Sacred Heart will host Family Promise again during the week following Thanksgiving: November 27th thru December 4th, 2016.
If you are interested in volunteering, please leave your contact information at the desk in the narthex. A member of the Parish Core Team will follow up and contact interested volunteers.
Come to Eucharistic Adoration
“If people spent an hour a week in Eucharistic Adoration, abortion would be ended.” (St. Mother Teresa)
Eucharistic Adoration is open to all and is held every Tuesday from 8 am until 7 pm. Nothing is needed to do this but an open heart to Our Lord, Jesus Christ. You can stop in anytime on Tuesday for any length of time and just enjoy the quiet and peace that can only be found with the Lord.
We are presently in need of an adorer for 1 pm.
If you are interested in becoming an adorer or would just like to know more about Eucharistic Adoration, contact Joann Di Liberto at 610 932 8962 or complete a contact form found in the grey box labeled Eucharistic Adoration (next to the Sacred Heart Statue) and Joann will contact you.
A Note from the New Pastor
Hello, my name is Father John Crowley. I am happy to be the new pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, here in Oxford. I have heard wonderful things about our parish and I look forward to meeting and getting to know you, the Catholic Faithful here in beautiful southwestern Chester County, Pennsylvania. I come from a family of seven, grew up in Drexel Hill, a part of Upper Darby in Delaware County, received the Catholic Faith from my parents, lived it out in my family and among my friends and deepened my understanding of it at St. Charles Borromeo Parish. I graduated from St. Charles Borromeo School, from Monsignor Bonner High School and Drexel University and I worked as a CPA, in both public accounting and industry, in Philadelphia for ten years.
I entered St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in 1998, at age 33, was ordained a Catholic Priest in 2003 and my previous assignments were as a parochial vicar at St. Alphonsus Parish in Maple Glen, Montgomery County, Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Doylestown, Bucks County and St. Bernadette of Lourdes Parish in Drexel Hill, Delaware County. After my assignment at St. Alphonsus Parish, Cardinal Rigali sent me to Rome for graduate studies from 2006 through 2010 and I received a Sacred License in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, with a specialization in Dogmatic Theology. I taught part-time at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in the permanent diaconate, college and theology divisions from 2011 through 2013 and enjoyed my experience of working with the young men who will be and some of whom now are parish priests for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
When Archbishop Chaput assigned me to be the new pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, he instructed me, via the Vicar for Clergy, to remember two important things. First, he told me to be kind to the people of our parish and second, he told me to stay here. I intend to do both and I want to say to you, once again, that I am glad to be here in Oxford, Chester County, for my first assignment as a pastor and that I look forward to many rewarding experiences and wonderful years with you, celebrating our Catholic Faith together.

Sacred Heart School News
6th Grade Halloween STEM Candy Catapults
Sacred Heart School has begun the new school year with a variety of events meant to
welcome our families and our community. Our newly elected Student Council was
inducted during our Morning Prayers, this included a pinning ceremony followed by a
small reception for the students and their parents. The students in grades five through
eight in October held their Fall Pep rally, worked the games at our annual Oktoberfest
Family Day, and held a Penny Challenge. The challenge involves each class placing
pennies or silver coins in a jug. The goal is to have the most pennies, and having silver
is important to challenge this. 10 pennies is good, a dime takes 10 pennies away and the
fun begins. Our students have a great time visiting the classes and being strategic in
adding the silver coins. Excitement builds and eventually all the pennies are lined up for
a very impressive visual. The silver coins add to the total money raised. Happily, Sacred
Heart School was able to make a $150.00 donation to the Oxford Memorial Park new
Inclusive Playground. Our Student Council students exhibit leadership roles, are eager
to add a helping hand whenever needed and bring fun ideas to enhance our school and
community. We are looking forward to helping with dinner, and crafts at our new,
monthly No Homework Wednesdays and collecting food donations, for our neighborhood
community for the upcoming holidays.
Please contact our development director, Jennifer Whelan, to inquire about our programs or schedule a tour. It’s never too early to begin planning for your child’s education.
