SCRIPTURE READING REFLECTION In listening to today’s second reading, bear in mind that the sacred author originally addressed this open letter to people who were born Jews, pointing out how through them, God prepared for all peoples the lesson of the need for and benefit of faith! Presuming that lesson had been learned, in today’s Gospel Jesus fine tunes it by reminding us of the companion need for vigilance in the use of it. Having been given the gift of faith – for most of us, perhaps, from birth – much will be demanded of us, i.e. how we live it. We are not free to simply bury it, to hide it, to avoid making any waves. And therein lies the rub. To keep it a secret as a gift for ourselves only, not to be openly shared, is not acceptable. Inevitably, sooner or later - we don’t know which – we will be facing an all- knowing judge, who will evaluate what we have done with His gift of faith. It is clearly in our best interest to keep this in mind as we go through life day after day.
The 10:30am Sunday Mass will be a contemporary
Mass. The music can be found on the three music
stands in the back of the Church for this Mass.
Our Altar Bread and Wine for the month of August
has been gifted in memory of George Jaques by His
