SEPTEMBER 28 & 29 CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY

Provides funding for academic scholarships at The Catholic

University of America in Washington, DC in response to the

commitment made by the bishops at its foundation in 1887. It is

the only U.S. university with Pontifical faculties. Students are

enrolled from all 50 states and almost 100 countries in 12 schools.

DISASTER RELIEF: BAHAMAS HURRICANE DORIAN

The Diocese of Wheeling Charleston is encouraging a collection

for Catholic Relief Services to assistance with disaster relief for

the Bahamas Islands. The human death toll is currently around 50

but more than 1,000 people are still missing and at least 70,000

have been left homeless. Many residents have lost everything,

including their tourism industry, and are in desperate need of

humanitarian assistance. Our country has the resources to handle

devastating natural disasters but a small country like the Bahamas

does not. Please consider donating.

Come on a journey with us to Catholicism. The Rite of Christian Initiation for

inquiry session is Monday, September 30 at 6pm in the school building. If you

know someone who may want to start the process this fall, please give their name

to Claire Lampert at 304-921-2455 or Barbara Musolin at 276-326-1555.

Prayer Request Line:

Please call The Church Office (304-327-5623), Joan Monaco (304-325-7217), Donna Kelly (304-922-1066), or Annette Morgan (304-320-3625).

Care of the Sick: Please notify Father Sebastian, Deacon Don (304-320-6037), or the church office when someone is seriously ill and/or in the hospital. Sacraments or care of the seriously ill are administered at any time, day or night.

We are looking for copies of The Centennial book, Bluefield Sacred Heart 1895-1995. It is a blue hard bound book with the history of our parish. This is not the green Jubilee book published in 2000. If you have a spare copy of this book, would you consider donating it to the Church?

We would greatly appreciate it!

A prayer shawl with his crest insignia sewn on it, was given to Bishop Mark

Brennen. May this prayer shawl remind Bishop Brennen that Sacred Heart

Bluefield parishioners are covering him with our prayers and support.

A prayer shawl was given to Linda Knowles. May Linda feel all the love and

prayers our church family send her way.
