The County Council has been busy planning for the junior lock-in that is scheduled for February 24-25 at the Sac Community Rec Center in Sac City. A registration flyer is in this month’s newsletter. This lock-in is for all 3rd-6th graders! Mark your calendars!!

NW Iowa Beef Bonanza

What special-themed 4-H Camps will be offered this summer at the Iowa 4-H Center? The calendar and infor-mation is available on the 4-H Camping Website. Registration will begin in March. Applications are being accept-ed for 4-H Youth Summer Camp Residential Instructors working from May 31 to July 15. Week of July 1 is unpaid time off. Ice Fishing Clinic

Sac County Extension Office and Sac County Conservation are teaming up to host an Ice Fishing Clinic on February 18th. The clinic will begin at the Lake View Library at 9am and will end at Blackhawk Lake and fish near shotgun hill. A parent needs to accompany the participant. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided. Call the Sac County Extension Office at 712/662-7131 to register.

4-H Endowment

For the 2017 year there are 5-$50 individual grants and 4-$250 club grants available. The applications are availa-ble on the Sac County Extension website. For the 2016-17 4-H year the Endowment will be paying $10 per mem-ber towards their program development fee. Please remember that the Endowment has started to give out $250 scholarships to those 4-H seniors that graduate high school. This year the 4-H member must have completed three years of record books to be eligible for the scholarship! The applications are also on the Sac County Exten-sion website.

NEW Coop

NEW Cooperative Foundation is once again awarding five $2,000 scholarships for the 2017-18 academic school year. To qualify, students must be a dependent of a NEW Coop member or full-time employee. They must be enrolling in an ag major at a 4-year university or a 2-year college with an ag transfer program. This scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors, college freshman, sophomores and juniors. Applica-tions are available online at www.newcoop.com under the About Us tab, NEW Coop Foundation. Applications are due by March 3, 2017. The Iowa 4-H Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2017 Iowa 4-H Scholarship Applications are now avail-able! The information is posted as one PDF on the Iowa 4-H Foundation Scholarship website, (PDF). For more information please visit the Iowa 4-H Foundation website. All applications are due February 1, 2017, 11:59 p.m.

Iowa’s Center for Ag Safety and Health Grants

Iowa’s Center for Agricultural Safety and Health is now accepting applications for 2017 agricultural youth grants! These small grants of $500 are available to any youth group in Iowa interested in conducting a project related to agricultural safety and health. We have awarded grants to 82 youth organizations in Iowa totaling over $130,000 since 1998. Applications will be reviewed by members of the I-CASH advisory board. Criteria for selection will be based on objectives and use of funds. One project will be selected for the Outstanding Youth Grant Award which will be presented at the 2017 MRASH conference in mid-November. Funding will be available for travel and ex-penses to attend the meeting. A cash award will also be given to the top project. Applications are due February 15, 2017. 4-H IS HANDS-ON LEARNING

Woodbury County 4-H is inviting 4-H members in 6th-9th grade Saturday, February 4th to tube the hills at Great Bear in Sioux Falls. The bus will depart from Gordon Drive Bomgaars at 10:30am and return back by 6:30pm. Cost of tubing, pizza and the bus is $42. Payment and registrations are due by January 20th or as bus fills. Bring a sack lunch for the bus, pizza will be ordered during tubing. For questions or to register and pay for the trip please contact Lujean Faber at 712-276-2157.

Winter Trip to Great Bear in Sioux Falls

The State 4-H Recognition help sheets, evaluations, and online application links are now posted and ready! Please go to the Recognition Opportunities webpage to access the following materials: Recognition Opportuni-ties Available, Organizing & Designing Your Application Material and Interviewing Tips for April 1st. Each of the 6 possible application areas have a separate online application—National 4-H Conference, National 4-H Con-gress, State 4-H Council, Shooting Sports Ambassador Program, State 4-H Project (may apply for up to two project areas). Deadline for all submissions is 11:59 PM, Monday, February 1, 2017.

4-H Legislative Day The Iowa Extension Council Association is hosting their annual legislative day in Des Moines on February 28, 2017. As a part of our legislative day this year, the association is inviting our 4-H’ers to receive more information about the legislative process. One 4-H’er from each county will have the opportunity to meet with legislators, tour the Capital, and learn about the legislative process and what bearing it has on Iowa State Extension and Out-reach. An extension member from Sac County will accompany the 4-H’er to serve as a mentor for the day. All 9th-12th grade 4-H members can apply. Applications must be completed no later than February 15, 2017. Appli-cations will be reviewed by the Extension Council and they will select the 4-H member delegate. More infor-mation and applications can be found at the Extension Office or visit the Extension Website.

What do I need to do to re-enroll in 4-H?

* Go to: https://iowa.4honline.com. (You might want to bookmark this page) * Click “I have a profile” Enter your family email address that was provided to the Extension Office. * Enter your password that your family has chosen. If you forgot your password choose “I forgot my password” and then click send my password. Open your email browser and find the email from 4HOnline and locate your temporary password. Return to 4H Online and Click “I have a profile” and re-type your email and the new password that was just sent. Paste or type your password exactly as sent by 4HOnline as it is case sensitive. * Choose “Family” from the “Role” drop-down box. Click log in. * You can update your password if you had forgotten it but if you remembered it you will skip this step. * You will be taken to the Member list which includes all family members enrolled in 4H: members, leaders, and volunteers. Click “Edit” to the right of the “Inactive” member listed. On the Personal Information screen, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Enroll for 2014-2015”. Now you will have an editable Personal Infor-mation screen. Please complete all information that applies to you. Fields in BOLD are required. When you have completed this page, click “Continue”. *This brings you to the Additional Information page. All fields are required, when you have completed this page click “Continue”. * This brings you to the Health Form. Enter in any medical conditions, allergies, and/or medications or click the “no” box if none. When you have completed this page, click “Continue”. * Your primary club will be listed and then click “Continue”. If you wish to add or delete projects you may do so at this point. When you have completed this page click “Continue”. * This brings you to the invoice screen, click “Continue”. * Hit Submit Enrollment Form. Your enrollment status will show “Pending”. Your enrollment will be marked “Active” when the CYC accepts your enrollment.

If you have a new member that has siblings in 4-H!

I am a NEW 4-H Member and need to enroll!
