ENHANCED BOOKING WORKFLOW AND SCREEN DISPLAY
Reference: OBE-4610
Sabre Online has been improved to provide a more streamlined booking process with enhanced screen display for better usability and control of the traveller data. This change applies to the booking screen of Sabre Online as well as Consultant Online for all travel types. Changes include:
Introducing a new screen called “Itinerary so far” during the booking process for a more balanced display; reduced pop ups and scrolls
Improved information for air and land segments display; font size, spacing and hyperlinks on page to be more aligned for consistency
Improved air segment display to include flight cost per segment per person
Improved hotel segment display on both “Itinerary so far” and “Confirm your booking” screens to include property name, address, hotel cancellation policy and room rate description rather than room rate code, e.g., Best Available Rate vs B1SDR1
Introducing a navigation link area along the sub-menu area on screen for better workflow management of information
Best Fare of the Day (BFOD) reason collection is now embedded in availability screen so travel bookers can simultaneously select flight option and specify reason for not choosing the best fare offered if applicable
Travel bookers can now select their frequent flyer memberships before displaying seat maps, to ensure the applicable seat maps are returned according to their membership tier status (Please refer to the next section on seat map enhancements for more details)
Seat Selection from graphical seat map is now embedded in the “Confirm your booking” screen which can be expandable or collapsible
Hotel membership radio buttons are replaced by a pull-down list on the new “Itinerary so far” screen for better user experience. Hotel chain logo will also display once selected
Screen improvements also apply to post booking changes (adding land segments)
Improved service information fields for cars/hotels/transfer vendors by restricting travel bookers to enter alpha numeric characters only. The maximum characters allowed text will no longer display as the system will automatically limit the characters allowed

SEAT MAP IMPROVEMENTS
Reference: OBE-4075, OBE-4109, OBE-4296, OBE-4365, OBE-4370, OBE-4406, OBE-4545
Sabre Online has improved graphical seat map display by providing travel bookers the ability to view and purchase payable seats along with other seat information (e.g., aisle, window, bassinet, exit row etc.). Prior to this release, travel bookers could only reserve free seating in Sabre Online. If premium seating was selected they would need to contact their consultant for manual handling and payment. After this release, travel bookers can now view payable seats with the price that is applicable to the traveller(s) and purchase their preferred seats during the booking process. This new feature provides a quicker process and convenience to both travel bookers and consultants. Changes include:
New seating categories and icons apply, subject to airline seat map information which may vary and is dependent on the carriers’ participation level with Sabre GDS. The new seat map now indicates free and chargeable seats; preferred seats (both free and chargeable) as well as exit row seats
Travel bookers will now be required to select their frequent flyer numbers prior to seat selection. The attributes of the seats on the graphical seat map screen will display based on the selected frequent flyer number of the traveller(s)
If payable seats are available for selected flight(s) and the agency has enabled booking payable seats, travel bookers will be able to see the price range of the payable seats
When hovering over the seats on a seat map, Sabre Online will now display seat information, e.g., aisle, centre or window; bassinet, exit row, preferred seats, pricing etc.
The total price of the selected payable seat(s) will display on the Itinerary review screen, booking confirmation and view previously made booking screen under the fare details area as well as in all email communications
Costing remarks for the selected payable seat(s) will be added to the Air Costing in SAM to ensure information is applicable to client statements.
When a payable seat is selected in the Sabre Online booking, an Air Extras item will be added to a PNR in the Sabre GDS automatically create an Air Extras item in the Sabre PNR. The Travel agency or consultant will have to manage the EMD (Electronic Miscellaneous Documents) for the Air Extras item in Sabre and a costing will automatically download to SAM once the ticket is issued
New Admin tool settings are added to the Air Tab at both agency and company levels to for booking payable seats. (Refer to the Sabre Online Admin Tool section on the next page for more details)

Watchpoints!
Sabre Online is utilising the latest enhanced seat map API with the Sabre GDS and there are many
common factors to the Sabre Red Workspace Seat Map and the interaction with the GDS. To display
the seat information in the Sabre GDS, please refer to Sabre Format Finder.
Payable seats are subject to payment and it is the agency or consultant’s responsibility to ensure
the Air Extras pertaining to the payable seats are ticketed for payment. Airlines reserve the rights to
cancel the seat request if no EMD payment is being processed
If multiple passengers exist in the same booking, when selecting seats on a segment, travel booker
must select seats for all passengers for that segment
Please ensure the correct frequent flyer number information is provided at the time of booking
otherwise Sabre Online will apply the default seat map as if there is no frequent flyer information
Some airlines such as Air New Zealand may reverse a payable seat to a free seat at the time of
ticket issuance, based on the fare type ticketed. In such case, an Air Extras item will be created
upon booking confirmation but once the booking is ticketed, the Airline will automatically remove the
Air Extra items from the Sabre PNR.
Booking payable seats functionality is only applicable to those airlines who participate in interactive
seat map. To find out more about the participating airlines please refer to Sabre Format Finder or
Agency eServices.
If the frequent flyer information is being modified, Sabre online will display an alert message to the
travel booker to avoid any pricing discrepancy resulted from any changes made to the frequent flyer
selection. If the selected seat is no longer available, Sabre Online will clear the seat selection
automatically.
Sabre Online passes all frequent flyer memberships to all applicable airlines in the booking. When
multiple travellers are present, it is at the airlines’ discretion to which frequent flyer number is used
for the seat map display. Please refer to the scenarios illustrated in this document.

Sabre PNR Sabre Online will submit the seat requests and seat information to the Sabre GDS and can be viewed by *B.
Note: “P” denotes payable seats Some airlines generate an SSR in the PNR advising ticketing deadline for the EMD. Below illustrates an example from NZ:
Air Extra items are also created automatically for seats requiring payment and can be viewed by *AE.
Consultant will have to issue EMDs for payment.
Note: Each Air Extras item is created per traveller per segment. e.g., for a booking with one traveller and two flight segments with seats requested, two Air Extra items will be created. For more information about Air Extras and EMD fulfilment, please refer to Sabre Format Finder or Agency eServices. Email distribution Seat information will be found in the email distribution for traveller, travel arranger, travel authoriser and consultant. Here are some of the examples where the seat charges are found in the email.

Authorisation Confirmed email to Traveller
Note: Air Extras costing is not included in the total costing of the booking and seat charges information will
appear in the email only if the payable seats are booked and confirmed. In the case where multiple travellers
exist and for any passenger who is not entitled to free seating, the seat charges for such passenger will not
be included in this costing area. Travel booker is required to contact their consultant for verification.
19
Costing Remarks in SAM
Sabre Online will add the paid seat value to the costing remarks to each air costing in SAM which will then display on the client documents. These remarks can be found in SAM > Booking Profile> Costing > edit > creditor remark
Note: Only additional seat charges for confirmed seat requests will display here. In the case where multiple travellers exist and if one of the passengers is not entitled to free seating, a warning message will be displayed at time of booking and the seat charges for such passenger will not be included in this costing remarks area. Seating Information in Itinerary
Seat Charges information in Client Statement
Continued on next page
20
Note: Once the air ticket is issued, the air costing will be updated in SAM costing accordingly and the additional seating remarks attached to the costing will be removed automatically. Once the EMD is issued, a new costing will be created specifically for that Air Extras item. For more information about how an EMD is updated in SAM, pleases refer to SAM release notes v4.4. Seat Map for Multi-travellers Scenario 1 – Traveller#1 has a lower tier membership and Traveller#2 has a higher tier membership If Traveller#1 has a lower tier membership and Traveller#2 has a higher tier membership, Sabre Online will
display seat map based on the airlines’ response. Below table illustrates the possible outcomes:
When seat map display is based on the lower tier membership, seats appear as “Payable”.
When seat map display is based on the higher tier membership, some payable seats appear as free seats.
Although all seats appear to be “Payable”, when booking seats for both passengers, Traveller#1 will have to pay for the seat but Traveller#2 who has a higher tier membership will not be charged for the seat. Sabre Online will confirm seats for both passengers.
Although some seats appear as “Free”, when booking
seats for both passengers, Traveller#1 who has a lower
tier membership will be charged for the seat but
Traveller#2 who has a higher tier membership will not
be charged for the seat.
Warning message will be displayed if seat request for
the lower tier member is either unable to confirm or
when payment is required (Refer to the Warning
Message section of this document for more details).
An Air Extras item will be created in the Sabre PNR only for Traveller#1.
If seat request is successfully processed, an Air Extras
item will be created in the Sabre PNR only for
Traveller#1.
Watchpoint! Consultant is required to issue EMD for the Air Extras item in the Sabre PNR.
21
Scenario 2 – Traveller#1 has no frequent flyer membership and Traveller#2 has a higher tier membership Sabre Online passes all frequent flyer memberships to the airlines. In this scenario, Traveller#1 does not have a membership so Sabre online will send the only membership of Traveller#2 and seats are shown as free. A narrative will be displayed to advise the travel booker that if the frequent flyer status of a traveller is not entitled to complimentary seating, a message will be displayed at booking completion to verify the charge.
Warning Messages
When Passenger is not entitled to complimentary seating at time of booking completion
Booking will be processed with seat numbers for both passengers but with a warning message stating the
name of the traveller who is not entitled to complimentary seating with the flight number.
Watchpoint! Sabre Online will alert the consultant by adding an action item and booking remarks to the
SAM booking stating the details of the traveller, seat number and flight details for which the seat is displayed
as free seat but it is in fact chargeable.
22
When seat request is not complete for multi-travellers booking
When there are multi-travellers in a booking but seat request is not complete for all passengers, the following pop-up window will be displayed:
When Seat map is unavailable for selected airlines and flights

Frequently Asked Questions for Seat Map Improvements
Question Answer
With this enhanced display, does travel booker need to select a frequent flyer option first before viewing the seat map?
Yes, to ensure the applicable seat maps and seat
costs are returned according to traveller’s
membership tier status.
Can travel booker modify the itinerary if the wrong flight/hotel/car/transfer is selected before finalising the booking?
Click on the “Availability” option from the
navigation link on top of screen or use the “BACK”

required fields before finalising their booking.
Please note the navigation link to return to the
previous availability screen and the BACK button

Why can’t the travel booker see the seat map in Sabre Online?
This may due to a number of reasons:
1) Check the admin tool settings at either
agency or company level has the
interactive seat map enabled.
2) If the seat map setting is defaulted to
collapsed view, make sure the travel
booker click on “Show seats” to see the
seat map.
3) Seat map is not available on that flight,
e.g., Jetstar.
Is the “Held/Ticket Credit” still available with this enhanced display?
Yes. There is no change to this functionality. Held
ticket(s) will be displayed if they are applicable.
Can travel booker still put the booking on HOLD with this enhanced display?
Yes. There is no change to this functionality if
applicable.
Is the new seat map available when cloning a booking?
Yes, the new seat map is available when cloning a booking, subject to airlines’ availability and admin tool settings.

If the seat request became unavailable to confirm, will Sabre Online still complete the booking?
Yes and the travel booker will be prompted to contact their consultant for action.
Can a travel booker request seating when modifying a booking?
This function is not available for modification and Sabre Online only allows adding land segments to existing booking hence seat map request is not applicable for new segments added.
27
Is the enhanced seat map available for Consultant Online?
Yes, if the agency or company setting to allow booking paid seats is enabled.
Can I change my seat request online after booking is complete?
You will need to send a modification request to your consultant for manual handling.
Is the enhanced seat map available on Jetstar Flights?

Can Travel booker request seats on change of gauge flights? E.g., DL 40 SYD to NYC via LAX when there is a change of aircraft in LAX
At the moment Sabre Online will not accept this type of seat request at time of booking completion. An error message will be displayed and travel bookers can clear their seat selection to finalise the booking.
JETSTAR CHANGES TO API FOR BAGGAGE
Reference: OBE-4603
Jetstar is implementing changes to their baggage requests. Sabre Online has been updated to manage these
changes. Jetstar will now only allow travel bookers to book and pay up to a total of 40KG baggage allowance,
taking into consideration the baggage that is already included with the fare.
For example:
A Starter Plus fare includes 20KG with the fare but travel bookers can only purchase up to additional 20KG
baggage allowance.
A Starter Max fare includes 30KG with the fare but travel bookers can only purchase up to additional 10KG
baggage allowance.
28
JETSTAR MANDATORY MOBILE NUMBER REQUIREMENT
Reference: OBE-4617
Jetstar has an internal process for notifying passengers by sending out an email and a SMS based on the contact information in the booking. To improve the accuracy of passenger contact information particularly mobile phone number in a booking, effective from 1st March 2016, mobile phone number will become mandatory for all Jetstar bookings. To ensure the mobile number field is supported by the JQ automated SMS system on flight disruptions, Sabre Online is currently meeting the Jetstar’s requirements by:
Mobile number submitted for every booking
Removing the leading 0 in front of the mobile number as this will result in SMS sending failure
Restricting the use of letters and the ( ) symbols
Removing any “-“ and space from the mobile number field
Entering country and area codes correctly Watchpoint!
If no mobile phone exists in the traveller’s profile, Sabre Online will use the traveller’s primary phone number
If the mobile number format is incorrect, Jetstar will process the booking and will send an email notification to the traveller/travel arranger based on the email settings in the Sabre Online admin tool
It is imperative to ensure the mobile number is correct in the lead traveller’s and arranger’s profiles for airlines to contact the traveller
It is highly recommended to make the mobile number field mandatory for all individual profiles to avoid any booking issues
To make the mobile number field mandatory in the traveller profile, go to SAM > Company Profile > References > Individual Profile Settings and check the mobile phone field box
JETSTAR ISSUE WITH JQ BAGGAGE FEES ON CLONED BOOKINGS
Reference: OBE-4123
It was found that when travel booker cloned a JQ booking, the baggage charges from the original booking were carried through to the Charges field on the itinerary page of the newly cloned booking. This issue has now been rectified.
29
SEATING MAP DISCREPANCY FOR ATR EQUIPMENT TYPE ON AIR NEW ZEALAND
Reference: OBE-4365
It has been reported that the seat map for Air New Zealand aircraft equipment type AT7 (ATR TURBOPROP) was showing an extra row in Sabre Online. There were 18 rows instead of 17. This issue has now been rectified.
INCORRECT BOOKING STATUS DISPLAYED VIA AUTHORISATION EMAIL
Reference: OBE-4632
It has been reported that when a travel approver had Sabre Online open and clicked on the booking number link in the authorisation email for a changed booking, the booking would show as “approved status” even though it was still awaiting approval. This was due to Sabre Online open in one tab and the email was opened in another tab within the same browser window. This issue has now been rectified.
SABRE ONLINE TO USE NEW SAM PROCESS FOR COST CENTRE REFERENCES
Reference: OBE-4430
Sabre Online has been improved to apply the new SAM process for cost centre references. This new Cost Centre references field allows agencies to record additional data fields that can be added to cost centres at a company level. This enhancement has no impact to the online travel bookers. The Cost Centre references can be added to the company profile and they will appear in SAM booking profile. See below:
When travel booker creates a booking, Sabre online will:
Invoke booking level cost centre and applicable reference(s)
Invoke each additional costing with applicable cost centre and applicable reference
When adding land segments to existing booking, Sabre Online will:
Invoke costing reference(s) at costing level only and continue to use the existing cost centre but will apply new reference(s) if agency changes the reference(s) at company profile level
Allow different references to be used for new costing For more information about enhanced SAM process for cost centre references, please refer to SAM release v6.2.1.
