Sabina Spielrein foi paciente do psicanalista Carl Jung. Posteriormente ela estudou medicina e acabou se tornando uma das pioneiras na teoria psicanalitica ao relacionar o principio de prazer a sentimentos auto-destrutivos. Em suas palavras: "durante a reprodução, uma união das células femininas e masculinas ocorre. Da união de cada célula ambas são destruidas, deste produto de destruição nova vida se origina".Sabina Spielrein was a patient of psychoanalyst Carl Jung. Later she studied medicine and eventually became one of the pioneers in psychoanalytic theory to relate the principle of pleasure to self-destructive feelings. In his words: "during reproduction, a union of female and male cell occurs. the unity of each cell thuis is destroyed and, from the product of this destruction, new life originates".
