Chairman’s Welcome Welcome to Round 2 of the RaboDirect PRO12. It was great to kick o the season last week and we’re looking forward to yet another great season, with the Final nine months away.

Last year’s RaboDirect PRO12 showcased what our 12 clubs are capable of. There were many memorable moments, with 536 tries and 5,339 points scored in the 135 games played - almost four tries and 40 points per match.

Our competition boasts 229 full internationals from 17 nations and is the breeding ground for star players, with Tim Visser, Toby Faletau, Stuart Hogg and Luke Marshall all winning the Young Player of the Year award in past seasons. Indeed, Faletau and Hogg joined 27 other RaboDirect PRO12 players as part of the recent victorious British & Irish Lions tour.

This quality is re ected in the popularity of the RaboDirect PRO12 and last season we were delighted to see an increase in match attendance of 4.3% on the 2011-12 campaign. Our TV audiences were also up on the previous year, with over 12.9 million viewers watching the action in all four countries. And we launched a new YouTube channel in March 2013 which has recorded close to a million views in its rst few months.

The facilities here in Parma have improved greatly and will be the envy of many visiting teams! New Zebre coach Andrea Cavinato and his team will expect a tough battle tonight against Munster but will be con dent that their second half performance again Connacht can be built upon. Munster had a good bonus point win over Edinburgh to start their campaign and know they need to win on the road to get back to a top 4 position this season so tonight should be an exciting game!

As we look forward to another exciting season, let’s wish both teams the best of luck for tonight’s encounter.

Welcome to Round 18 of the RaboDirect PRO12! With matches to be played in Parma, Treviso, Glasgow, Cardiff, Dublin and Llanelli, there is a feast of top class rugby action on offer. This weekend’s action sees Italy host two RaboDirect PRO12 fixtures as both Benetton Treviso and Zebre play at home, with both sides keen to return to winning ways. The action kicks off in Scotstoun as Glasgow Warriors entertain Ospreys. There is a lot to fight for in this match with the hosts just outside the Play-Off Zone in fifth position while the Ospr eys sit in fourth, in the final Play-Off place. The Ospreys will be desperate for a win with Glasgow Warriors four points behind them and with two games in hand. The first of Saturday’s games sees Zebre welcome Newport Gwent Dragons to Stadio XXV Aprile. This is a match the Italians who currently sitting at the bottom of the RaboDirect PRO12 table will be keen to win. They are yet to beat Dragons but last season’s corresponding fixture was a tight encounter with the Welsh Region winning by a point. The Cardiff Blues play Ulster at Arms Park. A win here depending on the result between Leinster and Munster could see Ulster climb into second place and a coveted “home” Play-Off spot. However, Cardiff Blues will be striving to put an end to four consecutive losses and get back to winning ways at home.Saturday sees a second trip to Italy for the RaboDirect PRO12 in Round 18 as Benetton Treviso host Edinburgh at Stadio Monigo. Both sides are coming off losses and will be keen to gain some precious points in order to rise in the table.Leinster moves home to the Aviva Stadium as they take on old foes Munster in what is always a highlight of the season. Players who just two weeks ago stood shoulder to shoulder in Ireland’s RBS 6 Nations Championship winning match in Paris will be reigniting fierce rivalries in a match that is a shoot out for top spot. The weekend’s final fixture sees Scarlets take on Connacht at Parc y Scarlets. The Irish will be hoping for another strong performance to go five matches unbeaten. This should be an exciting encounter as Scarlets sit just one place ahead of them in the RaboDirect PRO12 table.

Enjoy this weekend’s feast of rugby!
