@ In the event that NO S6
vacancy is available, or S6
vacancies are available in only
ONE school in Stage V, Central
Allocation will be cancelled. Theapplication centres will not
operate.
In case there are vacancies in
only one school, eligible
students should apply to that
school direct. Details of the
school and the time for
application will be announced in
the evening of 6 August 2010
(Friday).
(In case of bad weather or other contingencies, the dates for various stages may be changed. Students should
note the relevant announcement of the Education Bureau. As the application for S6 places is NOT on a
first-come-first-served basis, students need not go to the schools with S6 vacancies too early to wait for
tendering their applications.)
Points to note:

Other points to note:
i A pass in a quality-assured Applied Learning (ApL) course will be counted as one point by HKEAA in the
calculation of points, and counted for central allocation at Stage V of the Procedure 2010. Individual schools
have the discretion to decide whether to count these scores for S6 admission to S6 in Stages I to IV. The
maximum number of points accumulated for S6 admission is two. The point awarded on merit of the ApL
qualification will be printed on the S6 Admission Slip. Students wishing to use their ApL scores to apply forS6 school places could get the required admission information from the remarks column of the chapter on
Further Studies Secondary 6 Whole Day Courses of this Handbook.
ii In case of contingencies during the Procedure, e.g. spread of communicable diseases or tropical cyclones,
heavy persistent rain leading to the issuing of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, Red or
Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, EDB will announce special arrangements for the affected stages of the
Procedure through the media as soon as possible.
iii In 2008 and 2009, arrangements under the Procedure were made to enable eligible S5 students to seek S6
admission using the alternative Chinese Language qualifications [including General Certificate of
Secondary Education (GCSE) / International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) / General
Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level)]. This practice will continue in Procedure 2010 and is
applicable to all schools for S5 students meeting the specified circumstances. Hence, provided that the
students have fulfilled all the admission requirements and have attained equal points compared with their
counterparts, schools will make conditional offers to them at each stage of the Procedure pending the
release of the relevant examination results in late August.
iv There will be a perforated S6 Admission Slip attached to the 2010 HKCEE Results Notice. Since this S6
Admission Slip will be detached and retained by the school as a record to confirm admission, and the
Admission Slip will not be returned to students, students should consider carefully before accepting the offer
of an S6 place. No school will admit a student to S6 without the S6 Admission Slip.
v In considering an application for admission to S6 at each stage of the Procedure, the school may take into
account other factors in addition to the HKCEE results, such as achievements of Chinese Language and
English Language in HKCEE, subject requirements in the relevant stream (Arts, Science and so on),
schools discretion in counting the scores for the ApL courses for S6 admission, and the student's conduct in
school etc.vi The vacancy information of schools will be released on the web (website: http://www.edb.gov.hk/s6ap_e) in
Stage II, Stage IV and September to facilitate students application to other schools. Students can enquire
the vacancy information by school, district and stream (Arts, Science and so on). Besides, the school name
of each school will include a hyperlink, by clicking which students can obtain the school basic information
such as address, location and telephone number. The vacancy information will also be available at the 4
Regional Education Offices during these periods. Details on releasing the vacancy information will be
announced before release of the HKCEE results.
vii If students are still unable to secure an S6 place after the completion of Stage V, they may be able to get a
place at the beginning of the new school year because some successful students may decide not to take up
their places. Information on schools with S6 vacancies will be available for reference of the students
throughout September. Applications should be made to these schools direct. Admission will be entirely at
the discretion of the school authorities.
