A group meets at the Casual Pint in Ftn City on May 11 at 2:00 p.m. Anyone welcome. Sunday School Promotion Sunday & Open House is Sunday, May 20 during Sunday school in the sanctuary. Looking Ahead Vacation Bible School is June 24-26 Brainstorming at a meeting on our last mission trip to Belize, the Los Tambos Alumni Association was born. Ideas sprang forth about where the village is going and wishes of what it could be. With good jobs, the group was encouraged to find a way to raise scholarship funds so that even more students could attend high school. And they did! Under the guidance of ambitious teacher, Evelyn, they hosted a “marathon” event. Not a running event, it was a day of soccer competition, barbecue, and a raffle. The event was so successful that one whole scholarship was raised ($700) with enough remaining for seed money for the next event! We couldn’t be prouder as we see God’s blessings on this sweet village! Belize Gift Bags are due May 6th, please place in the bin outside the sanctuary door. Thanks for giving a piece of yourself for the joy of a child! Congratulations graduate - Curt Brewer will be going to CSCC in the honors program & then on to UT for a degree in most likely wildlife biology. He plans to continue on to a PhD. Christian love and sympathy is extended to Connie and Wayne Decker and David Decker and family on the loss of Connie’s father, Ray Greer. Belize bicycles - Each year I am given the distinct honor of playing Ms. Claus and distributing the big ticket item of bicycles to the children of Los Tombos. In the last 8 years, the generosity of our congregation here at FCPC has provided over 140 bikes to students at the school. We started the first year with 5 bikes, in good years we have provided 20 bikes. Not all the children needing bikes get them, obviously. This year we have been given a list of 33 possible candidates. Carefully, and with God's guidance we pare down the list to fit what we are able to provide. Decisions are made based on the distance the family lives from the school, the number of bikes in the family, and age of the child. Los Tombos was established as a refugee community by the UN, for those needing a haven from drug wars, political or military unrest that is common in Central and South America. It can be a transient community, children come and go, and so new families often have more urgent needs. Are bicycles the #1 need for Los tombos? Definitely not. Clean water, health issues, and education are all priority. The shared food and witness we provide to the community through home visits and vacation bible school are very important. So why bikes? They provide a sense of safety, accessibility and increased opportunities for both the student and their family. If you can't afford a bike, consider a general bike fund or the bike repair fund. All your gifts are greatly appreciated and very well used. Thank you in advance. IN MEMORIAM Lillian Holsaple Member of this Church 1956-2018 Until All Are Fed lyrics How long will we sing? How long will we pray? How long will we write and send? How long will we bring? How long will we stay? How long will we make amends? Chorus Until all are fed we cry out. Until all on earth have bread. Like the One who loves us each and every one...we serve until all are fed. How long will we talk? How long will we prod? How long must we fret and hoard? How long will we walk to tear down this facade? How long? How long, O Lord? Chorus How can we stand by and fail to be aghast? How long 'til we do what's right? What they had they shared - some fishes and some loaves. They served until all were fed. Chorus

As we gather here this day we hear your message of power and love through the witness of Jesus Christ as he prepared his disciples for his departure. Call to Confession

Choral Call to Confession Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus

Prayer of ConfessionLord, hope springs anew in our hearts. As the earth is being refreshed by the warmth of spring, so we have been refreshed and made new by the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. And we want to stay in this euphoria forever. But you have called us to go into the valley, to those who need to hear of your love and to feel your caring presence. In his words of hope, Jesus prepared his disciples to be witnesses. We don’t quite believe that we are capable of actually living our whole lives in your love. So we act in ways that are often neglectful and hurtful of others. Stop us in our tracks, O Lord. Turn us around. Help us to face our weakness and your forgiving grace. Heal us of our sins, and place us again on the paths of peace. We ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Celebration Hymnal, P. 815 *Affirmation of Faith (from the PCUSA Study Catechism)Leader: Who are the needy? The hungry need bread, the homeless need a roof, the oppressed need justice, and the lonely need fellowship. At the same time—on another and deeper level—the hopeless need hope, sinners need forgiveness, and the world needs the gospel. On this level no one is excluded, and all the needy are one. Our mission as the church is to bring hope to a

desperate world by declaring God’s undying love—as one beggar tells another where to find bread.

THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

*Hymn No. 461 In Remembrance

The Invitation The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is Christ’s gift to His church. This boundless gift is offered without regard to denominational affiliation, church membership, or personal merit. Communion is a gift of grace

whereby through symbolic elements of bread and fruit of the vine, we are mystically united with the presence of Christ. Jesus invites all who desire a living relationship with Him to dine at his table. All of our bread is gluten-free.
