What are you planning on doing today?

Well, it’s currently 11:57pm (laughs) I spent my day travelling between home and various fabric shops, gathering fabrics for orders and cutting them out.

Tell us about your brand? KBLea Designs is a fashion label marketed at young girls aged 12-25. It was created only around 5 months ago which is pretty crazy to think, considering the amount of success we’ve had already! We have a large range of clothing pieces including: shorts, skirts, dresses, crop tops and overalls and soon expanding to swimwear.

What is the story behind the name ‘KBLea’?

Our name is pretty much to do with our own names. The first letter of my co-workers name is ‘K’, the first letter of my name is ‘B’ and both of our middle names are ‘Lea’.

Explain an average day of operating your business?

Every day is pretty much the same. We work from home so it’s pretty nice being able to just wake up and walk downstairs to go to work. I usually start the day off by driving to 2 of my favourite fabric shops (where i am now known as a ‘regular’) and pick up numerous, different printed fabrics for orders, followed by spending the rest of the day cutting out the patterns and sending garments off!

Tell us a little bit about you? I co-own the business with a lovely lady who prefers to remain behind the spotlight! But I go by the name of Brooke, a 19 year old girl who resides on the southern end of the Gold Coast and has always had a love for all things fashion.

What is your favourite aspect of owning a

clothing brand?

Definitely talking to the customers and hearing feedback about our clothing. I also love the idea of creating my dream wardrobe - the pieces I’ve always wanted but have never been able to find!

Based in the Gold Coast, KBLea Designs ship internationally and the best thing about the brand is all garments are made when ordered in whatever size and colour/print you like. With affordable prices, they make tops, skirts, dresses, overalls and more which are perfect to wear in the summer.

Any up and coming projects you can share

with us?

I will actually be travelling to Bali at the end of this month in hope finding some amazing manufacturers to help us expand our business and helping us to launch our new website and a new swimwear range!

Will we ever expand to jewellery, shoes, make-up?

I think I would definitely love to create some amazing jewellery and shoes in the future but I’d probably stay away from the make-up aspect as I think there are too many amazing brands out already and it would be super hard to compete.

What do you hope is the future of KBLea Designs?

Well I’d definitely love to expand into one of Australia’s most well known and loved fashion brands for young girls and also to open up a shop on the Gold Coast, Australia.

What is the inspiration behind the clothing brand?

Growing up by the beach side is probably the biggest inspiration. When people wear our clothes, I want them to think of fun, summery, relaxed days. Also music festivals!

How does someone buy the clothes?

We will have our website up and running in the next 2 months but until then if you just hop onto our instagram to check out the clothes and then you can text or email us to order. We also have an etsy!

What should someone wear the clothes with and

where could they wear it ?

I think that all the items can be paired perfectly with come “connies” [Converse] or some “jellies” [Jelly Sandals], with oversized sunglasses and a wide brim hat or chain head piece! They are the perfect clothes to wear on all occasions - music festivals, the beach, lunch with your friends, parties, gig etc.
