BACKGROUND

Sam is in her 6th year of competing in triathlons. She was recruited to run Division I cross country and track at the United States Air Force Academy, and after one season decided that Triathlons were her true passion. She joined the Academy’s triathlon club team, and began improving. By 2012, Sam had won her age group at Ironman Wisconsin, qualified for the Ironman World Championships where she placed 3rd in the 18-24 age group, and was given the opportunity to turn pro after a top-5 finish in the nation at USAT Collegiate Nationals. Now 2013, Samantha placed top-5 once again at USAT Nationals, qualifying her to turn pro for the second time. She does not yet know if she will accept or decline her pro card. The next race on her schedule (after being commissioned in May as a 2nd Lieutenant from the Air Force Academy) is the Armed Forces National Championships, where she hopes to lead the US Air Force to a victory as well as place top-6 so she can qualify for the Armed Forces World Championships. In October of 2013, Sam will race in the Ironman World Championships for the second time, however this time representing the entire Air Force as the women’s representative.
