Last week had a bit of everything thrown at if for the Eagles, with the weather gods playing havoc with training and as well as on game days. Starting with the juniors, only the Vultures managed to get a game in on Friday night and what a great game it was. The kids battled it out dodging the heavy rain at times and had a really close game that came right down to the last minute of play. With only a pitch to go, the game went the oppositions way, but it didn't take away from the fact that the kids enjoyed themselves and the thrill of the competitiveness. The Falcons, who were scheduled to play at home had to call the game off due to the uncertainty at the time with the stormy conditions, no doubt the kids will be itching for Friday to come now. Still in the junior ranks, the Intermediate and Junior League teams went at it at home on the Sunday in relative calm conditions, but both were up against stronger opponents on the day. To date, both teams are travelling along nicely under the guidance of Jaydon and Macka and there is no doubting that there will be much success for these teams as the season ticks along. The U18s had an arm wrestle of a game against Newport and they end result was a draw. Well done guys, just great to see you hitting your straps and taking it right up top the opposition in the last few games. The Tee and Rookie ball kids will be buzzing around tonight after missing the session last week and the Tee Ball Gala day this Saturday will be a ripper with fun all-round. The Saturday saw our Senior teams go into battle and the victors were the Women's team who had a very interesting game against NW Titans at McPhersons Park. It was a late surge by the Women that saw them get the required runs late in the last innings and well deserved win with everyone contributing. The 4 senior men's teams battled it our in swirly conditions at Geelong, with all of them coming up short of the runs required on the day. The Fourths started well, but errors got the better of them, whereas the Thirds let rip with the bat right from the start knocking in 6 runs, but the opposi- tion countered those and added a few more to take it away in the end. The Seconds had one of those games where nothing seemed to go their way and for the Firsts, it was a game of chance for both teams with the lead changing many times throughout. Scores were level coming into the last innings, but the opposition scored the required run. The Fellas will certainly be looking for redemption with the mid-week game tonight at Geelong. The Masters had a resounding victory over Pivot City at home last night belting in 24 runs along the journey with the highlight being Phil (Flash) Caudwell’s Home Run. Off-field we can look forward to the Annual Past Players Day this Saturday, which is always a fine gathering of members both past and present, as well as our fine supporters, families and friends. Other events on the horizon to note are: Ladies Day on November 23rd, as well as the Bunnings Sausage sizzle at Sunshine on the same day. If there is anyone available to help with the sausage sizzle, please let us know. Premier 12 Allan De San Miguel is one of the players representing Australia in the Premier 12 WBSC tournament.
