The orientation is an opportunity to learn about the resourcefamily approval (RFA) process, ask any important questions anddecide whether you are ready to become a resource family. Complete the orientation online or call (888) 811-1121 toregister to attend an in-person orientation.

A t t e n d P r e - A p p r o v a l a n d P r e - P l a c e m e n t T r a i n i n gProspective resource families are required to attend 12 hours ofpre-approval and 8 hours of pre-placement RFA training. TheRFA training program will provide you with valuable informationabout the foster care system, the needs of children, and what itmeans to be a resource family. Up to 90 days after approval, you will also need to completeCPR and First-Aid certification, which will be provided to you.

A RFA social worker will schedule an appointment with you andyour family to begin the family evaluation process. Thisassessment will help determine your readiness to provide asafe and stable home environment for children who cannotsafely live with their own families.

A RFA social worker will schedule a time to meet with you andyour family in your home to assess your home's safety. Theywill make sure your home passes a basic health and safetyinspection and provides a suitable environment for children inthe foster care system.
