First Sunday of Lent March 1, 2020

Twenty Five Years Ago………

Throughout the year of 1995 our parish church and complex were

being constructed. The first Mass in the new church was cele-

brated on January 13, 1996. The new church was consecrated by

Bishop Carl F. Mengeling on February 18, 1996.

To commemorate this important time in the history of our parish I

have invited Sharon Zakrzewski to periodically share with us

events as they were unfolding 25 years ago. This will lead up to a

parish celebration on Sunday, February 14, 2021 to commemorate

the 25th anniversary of the consecration of our church. I am plan-

ning on inviting Bishop Mengeling to celebrate the anniversary

Mass (if he is still with us, if not him then Bishop Boyea).

It would be nice if we could finally have the cupola repaired and

the church interior repainted before this anniversary event. I am

proposing an idea to the parish: I would like to add a permanent

devotional shrine to honor St. Catherine Laboure in the main

church. It would be modeled after the 2 existing shrines and lo-

cated on the south wall of the church to the right of the first Sta-

tion of the Cross. The statue of St. Catherine would be placed

there. This would allow us to draw closer to St. Catherine, who is

the patron saint of our parish. Let me know what you think of

this idea.

If there are any parishioners who were on the building committee

at that time and would like to brainstorm about how we can com-

memorate the 25th anniversary please let me know. We might

want to form an anniversary committee to plan a reception after

the Mass on February 14, 2021.

Annual Diocesan Services Appeal

By now you have received a letter from me regarding the annual

Diocesan Services Appeal. The monies collected form the par-

ishes of the diocese allow for the funding of Bishop Boyea’s of-

fices and our diocesan programs for the coming year. Our parish

has been faithful in reaching and even exceeding our designated

goal. My hope is that we will be able to achieve our goal once

again this year. Our goal for the 2020 DSA is: $19,304.00.

In the past year we have received great support from the diocese

regarding our asphalt replacement and repair project. If it weren't

for the assistance of Alan Olson, from the diocesan properties

office, we would not have been able to accomplish this project.

Alan has been running interference for us with the asphalt com-

pany and will make sure that asphalt project is up to the best stan-

dards. Alan will also be working with us on the repairing of the

cupola this summer.

Just a reminder: 50% of all contributions, in excess of our parish

goal, will come back to our parish for local use. Thank you for

your generosity to this year’s DSA.

Fr. Tim

Thank you to the Women’s Guild

Recently the Women’s Guild made a very generous donation of

$1,500 to help defray the cost of the new parish hall refrigerator.

I was deeply touched by this gift. I want to thank the members of

the Women’s Guild for all that they do for our parish. They have

been most generous in covering the cost of hosts, wine, altar can-

dles and various items that are used in the sacred liturgy. I en-

courage all the women of the parish to participate in this parish

organization that does so many wonderful things for our parish.

Gratefully yours in Christ,

Fr. Tim
