The Lenten Tithe committeehas selected four charities toreceive this year’s donations:

•Local: Birthright CrisisPregnancy Services

•state: St. Thomas MoreCatholic Youth Camps

•national: Subiaco Abbey and Academy todevelop a library for the students

•international: Divine Word Missionaries dedicated to helping the needy around the world

The committee is providing individual coin cupsto take home and gather spare change. Blue col-lection buckets will also be in the St. Stephenlobby. We will then have one second collection atMass during Lent which will be directed towardsthese charities.

teMporarY LiturGY CHanGesFr. Nick and I have decided to implement some

temporary changes that the Archbishop hasasked of us due to the flu epidemic this season. From now until Holy Thursday, we will NOT be

distributing the Precious Blood to the assembly,so as to minimize any potential health risks. Wewill be making a few other changes, as well, such

as excluding the Sign of Peace, the introduc-tions at the beginning of Mass, and hand-holdingduring the Lord's Prayer. As sad as this may be,the Archbishop was pretty clear about makingsure that everyone's health is a top priority.

Thank you, everyone, for your understanding--this too shall pass! ~Clare
