A history of taste

Our company G7 Srl was born in 1958 when our grandfather Guglielmo Visani founded a factory near Bologna, in the North of Italy, with the aim of making the real Italian Gelato.

Our grandfather had its origins in Romagna, a region famous for good food and gelato. He was an extremely motivated person and his goal was producing and promoting original Italian gelato recipes all over the world.

Guglielmo Visani created two brands, il gelataio G7 and Siviero Maria, dedicated to his family. Since his name and the name of his six sons began with the G letter, he named the first brand il gelataio G7, while Siviero Maria was named after his wife Maria.

These two brands represent now the art of making Italian gelato in the national and international market.

G7 is still a family company and Guglielmo’s sons and grandchildren continue to carry on his dream with passion and commitment.

Our current production capacity is 9.000.000 Kilos of gelato per year.

We estimate that, by the end of the year 2014, the production capacity will rise to 12.000.000 Kilos thanks to the new production plant.

One of our strengths is the hand filling that, together with the high quality of raw materials and personalized toppings, makes our gelato unique.

The hand filling allows a better distribution of the ripple and let our well trained staff carry out a constant visual check of the product, granting an unchanged high standard quality.

Hand decoration

After filling the tubs, our skilled staff decorates our gelato by hand. Our gelato is enriched with delicious PGI hazelnuts from Piedmont, toasted pistachios from Sicily, perfumed real Amaretti biscuits, tasty candied fruits such as strawberries and wild berries and juicy whole semi candied cherries.

The hand decoration allows our staff to properly distribute the topping and carry out a visual check of each singular decoration used. This represents an added value to our customer’s benefit.

This artesanal method, together with high quality standards of our raw materials, allows us to offer our customers a creamy and tasty gelato.

Gelato traditional recipes

Our R&D Dept. works hard to develop new recipes and improve current ones. Syrups are also produced in our plant and this makes it possible to be flexible and to customize our recipes.

Our R&D Dept.’s aim is satisfying even the finest gelato lovers.Our assortment includes the more classical Italian gelato flavors such as Tiramisù, Stracciatella, Panna Cotta, Crema Fiorentina and Bacio that, together with more elaborated ones such as Yogurt with fruits of the forest, Vanilla with gianduia syrup, Mint with chocolate and Puffo, satisfies even the most demanding consumers. We also offer a wide range of Italian and French Sorbets.Lemon, Raspberry, Orange, Melon, Mango, Passion Fruit, Strawberries are only some of the available flavors. Last but not least, our Coffee and Lemon Sorbet ready to drink in 1L bottle.

The new line SIVIERO MARIA SELEZIONE is the result of our creativity and dynamism.SIVIERO MARIA SELEZIONE is a Premium Line packed in an elegant white pearl square tub.

For this Premium Line, we used a higher percentage of the main ingredients such as pure Sicilian pistachio paste, PGI hazelnuts from Piedmont, juicy Sicilian lemons and Vanilla Bourbon from Reunion Island. Furthermore we use 60% of Italian high quality fresh milk.

We paid attention not only to the quality of the recipe but also to the design of the packaging.We did not change the characteristic square shape that became our hallmark but we changed the color of the tub and the lid to offer a different and more elegant packaging. The brand was restyled as well.

Our packaging

Our tubs are suitable any time you want to enjoy the real Italian gelato. Choose the tub you prefer to taste our gelato as a dessert after lunch or after dinner, or for a break in the afternoon.

In our range you can find: single portion (150ml), retail tub (500ml), family tub (1L or 2L), foodservice tub (4,750L) . You can also find a polystyrene tub (750ml) that reminds of traditional pack used by the Italian Gelateria for take-away. This special packaging better and longer preserves gelato quality outside the freezer.

Transparent quality

In 1993, G7 was the first company to introduce the transparent packaging in the market.Transparent tub and lid allow the consumer to appreciate the nice decoration, the rich ripple and the soft swirls.

G7is well distributed in Italy both in retail and foodservice market.More than 40 distributors chose our gelato to supply their customers (restaurants, hotels, cafeterias... )

We also supply the main Italian retailers both with our brands il gelataio G7 and Siviero Maria and under Private Label.

Among our customers we list Coop, that chose G7 to produce also its premium line brand FiorFiore, and Conad.

In 1999, we exported for the first time our gelato outside of Italy.Nowadays our gelato is sold under our brands il gelataio G7 and Siviero Maria in more than 40 countries around five continents. We also supply many retailers with their own brand.Eroski in Spain under brand Eroski and premium brand Seleqtia, Rema 1000 in Denmark under brand Bologna, and Superunie in Holland under brands Markant, Plus and Perfekt are just a few of our partners.

Quality guarantees

The product quality of G7 Gelati is guaranteed by the following certifications: ISO 9001:2008, ISO 22000:05, BRC Global Standard for Food Safety (is.6), IFS (is. 5).

G7 Gelati guarantees the quality and food safety of its gelato throughout the entire production process by applying HACCP principles, carefully controlling its suppliers and raw materials, sanitization, packaging, storage and shipping processes. G7 Gelati also has its own microbiological laboratory to monitor the ingredients on an ongoing basis.
