By now the snow should be gone and the tulips and daffodils should be in full bloom. As you know there has been a lot of turmoil within the Harman Center these past few months. Hopefully, we can all move forward with a smooth transition of power. I want you to know that the rumors that were going around about the Harman Center being a Community Center are not true and Ken Wilkinson has apologized for making that statement. The Harman Center is and always will be a SENIOR CENTER. By the time this edition of the Newsletter comes out, you will have realized that we changed the date for the Spaghetti Feed from February to March 23. It just wasn’t feasible to plan it in February because of the snow and ice that had accumulated. Hopefully, you all attended and enjoyed your evening with us. When you see a Parks & Rec employee here at the Center please take the time to thank them for the wonderful job they all did this winter with the snow removal in our parking lot and the sidewalks. They made it much safer to come to the Harman Center. They also are responsible for much of the cleaning that took place during Cleaning Week in March and are in charge of mowing our lawns during the summer. Most of you don’t realize that Bob Busse was in charge of getting the gardens weeded for the last several years while he was a Trustee on the Senior Inc. Board. So a big thank you to Bob for a wonderful job. Now we need someone else that loves gardening to Volunteer to oversee and weed our beautiful gardens. I want to thank City Manager Cliff Moore for coming to the Harman Center and addressing concerns that the Seniors are having with what has happened here at the Center. It had snowed all day and there were still over 100 of you who attended. Over five hundred signatures were gathered on the petition supporting Ron Anderson. We will always believe in you!On behalf of everyone here at the Harman Center, thank you Ron for your 17 years of dedication and devotion to the Center. You made this a fun place to come for Seniors. I came to Saturday Breakfast on February 25 so that I could get this newsletter written and was pleased to see that Cliff Moore dropped in to join us for breakfast. City of Yakima I believe you picked a winner this time, as he is the first City Manager to actually come and mingle with us. I encourage all of you to come to our General Meetings held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m., your input is very important.
