Shri Siddarameshwar Education Trust was started in the year 1975 to cater to the needs of the society in the field of education. Currently Twenty educational institutions are being run by the trust.

India is known for its contribution to education since the Vedic age. Now India's higher education system is the third largest in the world, after China and United States. The technical education has an important role in generating knowledge and to share, applies the same for the economic development of the country. Building youth for the future rather than building future for the youth is ourmo at our S.G. Balekundri Institute of Technology.

The management of SGBIT has taken all necessary steps to impart quality education and personality development skills through dedicated and eminent scholars in the field of knowledge. Career development, character building and disciplined life style development is of utmost priority. year 2008 to impart technical education and thus partnering in the overall

progress of India. The Institute is known for its highly qualified, experienced and

motivating faculty and equipped with state of art, good in astructure, well

established library andwell equipped laboratories. At the Institute we, not only

provide quality education, but also inculcate human values by encouraging to

participate in various activities ie. to say co-curricular activities, sports, arts,

st1 Virtual Alumni Meet 2020

thDepartment of computer science and engineering conducted 1st virtual Alumni Meet 2020 on 24 May 2020. The alumni meet is conducted in order to reconnect with the Alumni and celebrate their success and various achievements. The Alumni Meet started with seeking the blessings of almighty. To start the occasion on an auspicious notes Dr. Dinesha H.A welcomed Shri. S. G. Sambargimath, Hon'ble chairman GC SGBIT, Dr. Sidramappa V. Itti, beloved principal, SGBIT, the chief guests of meeting, staffs, students and the gathering. Alumni coordinator Prof. Chitrashree Kurtkoti then proceeded with presenting the chief guests Alumnus Er. Safiul Hasan and Alumnus Er. Abhinandan Nasalapure to the session. Ms. Soumya Kadadi introduced chief guests. The meeting started with the discussion on online education, difficulties faced by teachers & students in online education, pros & cons of online education. All alumni shared their views on the point at different directions. Few of alumnis highlighted on cyber forensic and block chain technology series of webinars. All the alumni were excited to be part of the alumni meet. The chief guests shared their experience and the interesting moments of their campus life with the audience. Er. Sufiul Hasan enriched the knowledge of audience by exposing them to the trending technologies in the IT industry. Er. Abhinandan Nasalapure narrated the way how one can be good technically and what are the steps to be followed to become compatible and flexible with the coding. Both the guests are interacted with the campus students and faculty and answered for most of their questions. Dr. Sidramappa V. Itti, principal SGBIT, mentioned in his presidential remarks that “Alumnis are the asset of any institute”, their involvement and support is much essential for institute growth, and he also mentioned that the institute welcomes the suggestions and advices of the alumnis. Prof. ChitrashreeKurtkoti presented the vote of thanks. Everyone saluted the nation by singing the national anthem at the end which was the highlight of the session

Webinars on Trending TechnologyDepartment of CSE in Association with AICSES and CSI student chapter SGBIT conducted series of Webinars on trending technologies. In these times of lockdown due to the Coronavirus COVID-19, face-to- face educational functions and activities are being moved online, using remote working sites and tools in order to help the students and learning fraternity. Dr. Sidramappa V. Itti principal SGBIT, Dr. Dinesha H. A. HOD, CSE, Prof. Chitrashree Kurtkoti, Prof Shreedhar Niradi and Prof. Jaya Pattanshetti coordinators, CSI student chapter SGBIT and AICSES, faculty members and students attended the series of webinars.

Shared her experience and gave valuable suggestions like department should motivate final year students to implement real time projects. Mr. Sandeep Chavan CEO, Techify India, Belagavi alumni of department suggested the students to improve upon their interpersonal skills and learn about new technologies of the market.Mr. Satyamoorthi G Gaonkar working as a senior software programmer, Unikaihatsu software pvt.ltd. mentioned - motivation should be from students and teachers are there only to guide the things. Students should take initiative to learn new things. Ms. Nausheen Pathan, pursuing MBA in Jain college, Belagavi, gave some suggestions like seminars should be made compulsory to build stage courage among the students. Ms. FurqanaAngolkar working as Android Developer Prosoft-e-solution, Belagavi.Suggested the juniors to implement the final year project on their own by learning new technologies. All the suggestions given by the proud alumni of department were appreciated. Ms. Malati Kulkarni 7th sem CSE proposed vote of thanks. The main purpose of meet was to create a common platform, where teacher and parents come together to enrich the student's educational experiences and discuss variety of issues, regarding all round development of students. The meeting was organized under guidance of Dr. Dinesha H. A. All t e a c h e r s and parents attended the meeting

Industry Visit to DRDO (DIAT) Pune, Maharastra SGBIT, Department of Computer Science and Engineering students and staffs visited DRDO (DIAT), Pune, Data center on 28-02-2020. The purpose of the visit was to get exposure on defense IT technologies and computer science applications in defense IT infrastructure. In their visit and full day interaction, students and staffs were gained the practical

knowledge on many advanced technologies and its practical implementations in Defense IT infrastructure maintained by Data Center, DIAT. Advanced Technologies such as Cyber security, Digital forensic, Server Virtualization, UTM, Virtual Classrooms, Servers and Storages etc. had demonstrated from Data center operation team. Many theoretical concepts and advanced technologies importance and its applications were understood during the interaction.

S. G. Balekundri Institute of Technology (SGBIT) affliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, has developed very well education system and has been recognized among the top Engineering Colleges of Belagavi in Karnataka State. The College has well qualified experienced and supporting staff, stale of the art laboratory and workshop facilities, Library and Information Center, outdoor and indoor gyms, multi-gym, seminar halls, Auditorium, Wi-Fi facilities and adequate hostel facility.

The desire of SGBIT is to promote sustained growth and inclusiveness by harnessing young talents who arc pro-active enough to meet the demands and challenges of the volatile global environment. Emphasis is placed on the holistic development of the students coupled with value based education through sound ethics. The College oers BE Degree in Five disciplines and M. Tech Degree in two disciplines, Thermal Power Engineering and Structural Engineering. During the last 9 years nearly 2000 students are graduated in various disciplines of engineering om this institution. Alumni have been placed in well known organizations, and some have completed their higher studies in Germany, UK and other European countries. SGBIT looks at education in terms of quantity as wall as of knowledge given to the students and also possesses a progressive and innovative outlook with traditional roots. I assure that our administration and my team of dedicated and highly qualified faculty is totally committed to produce Engineers of a very high caliber to meet the growing and ever changing demands of industries and global market.

The Civil Engineering Department is started in the year 2010-11 with an intake of 60 students and later the intake is upgraded to 120 in the year 2014-15, similarly in the same year post graduate course in Structural Engineering started and now department has research center in civil engineering affiliated to VTU. A total of 24 experienced faculty members, support five core specializations (Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering , Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management) in the department. UG students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary projects in various domains and students are placed in reputed companies and various consultancy firms

Inauguration of Association of Civil Engineering Students (ACES) 04/09/2019

Inauguration of Association of Civil Engineering Students (ACES) along with the welcome function to new students of the department in the Holi Presence of His Holiness Dr. Savalgeshwar Devaru, Uttardhikari, Rudrakshimath, Belagavi and the Eminent Technical author Dr. S. S. Bhavikatti, Emeritus Professor, BVB College of Engineering, Hubli as a chief guest of the function. During the function Dr. S. S. Bhavikati addressed the gathering and stressed upon the saying "Work Is Worship" also shared his experience about writing the 67 books of Civil

Engineering. Sir has handed over two of his recent books to the Civil Engineering Departmental Library. Dr. Savalgeshwar Devaru guided the students about the five statements of Dr. A. P. G. Abdul Kalam and motivated the students to do better in there engineering carrier. During the function, certificates were distributed to the students those who have undergone certificate course on AutoCAD and Stadd-PRO.

The exhibition has been inaugurated by the His Holiness Dr. Tontad Siddharam Mahaswamiji along with Shri. S G Sambargimath, Chairman G C and Dr. Siddramappa V. Itti, Principal, SGBIT, Belagavi. Lower semester students of all the department participated in the exhibition and the evolution of these projects were done by the industrial experts namely Er.

P. S. Hiremath from Parvathi construction, Belagvi, Mr. Ramesh Sutar from Sairaj Industries, Mr. Sadanand Humberwadi, Director, Belgaum foundry cluster, Mr. Girish Parvatimath, CEO-Kechari Technologies were present along with the few internal Evaluators. Best projects from the each department were will be selected and awarded with the prize and certificate. During the same day alumni meet and stake holders meet has been organized where in few alumni students guided the present students about the carrier opportunities in the respective field as well as they shared

their experience in the present professional world.

Technical Talk on Rain Water Harvesting

Association of Civil Engineering Students (ACES) has organised a technical talk on date 28/11/2019 along with the live demo session on Rain Water Harvesting. The technical talk and the demo of rain water harvesting has been delivered by the Shri. Vijay Raj, Director, Farmland Rainwater Harvesting Structures, Bangalore. During his talk he enlightened the students about the various techniques and aspects of the rain water harvesting

techniques. He also, elaborated about the various cities of India which are facing the water related problem as well as how actually the water shortage problem has started in India. Also, he made appeal to all the students to save the rain water which inturn will save the mother earth. During the function Dr. Siddramappa V. Itti, Principal gave the presidential remarks, Dr. Vijaykuamr M. Devappa welcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Priyanka Patil. Prof. Manasa Veena Hosted the function.

Ultra Tech AwardOn dated 28/11/2019 a well know cement manufacturing company Ultra Tech Cement Ltd., has awarded Miss. Gouri Savalagi, student of Civil Engineering Department of S G Balekundri Institute of Technology for scoring highest marks in the Concrete Technology Subject at College level in VTU examination. Award was presented to the student in the presence of Er. Bharu Chougule and Er. Pavan Patil from Ultra Tech cement Ltd., Shri. Vijayraj, Director, Farmland

Industrial Visit to Kinaye Damth th

Industrial tour was arranged for 5 and 7 semester students on 22/11/2019 to study about various component parts of dam at kinaye. Students along with Dr. B. R. Patagundi, HOD, Civil Engineering & Dr. V. M. Devappa has visited Kinaye dam site. C. B. Hiremath, (Rtd.AEE) has explained about various parts of the dam in detail to the students.

Industrial Visit to Steel Structure Plantth

Industrial tour was arranged for 6 semester students on 28/03/2020 to study about steel structures. Students along with Prof Girish H, Prof Manisha K, Prof. Akshay Umare & Prof. Parashuram S. visited Kapeel Founders, Navage site to know about the Pre Engineered Building structure. All Professors explained about the eccentric bracket connections, connections between column & beam, beam to beam and also about high strength friction grip bolts [HSFG], welding portion. The design criteria of failures will also explained in detail with theoretical problems.

Dr. Dinesha H.A, HOD, CSE welcomed the gathering. Miss. Soumya Kadadi of 7th Semester, President of AICSES introduced the chief guest Mr.Sreenivasa Ramanujam K to the august gathering. Mr.Sreenivasa Ramanujam K, in his address highlighted on industry academic gaps and shared the glimpses of emerging technologies such as Data analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Thing, Autonomous vehicles, Social media and their usage in Industries. He also advised the students to make maximum utilization of time, resources at the Institute to gain knowledge and at the same time also enhance their communication skills to be industry ready by the end of their graduation. Dr. Sidramappa V.Itti Principal SGBIT, presided over the function and in his presidential speech he encouraged the students to involve themselves in developing multidisciplinary mini projects to strengthen their knowledge, also advised the students be planned to become successful in their career. Bangalore on 04 September, 2019. Project is a means for understanding many theoretical concepts. Project lab with advanced hardware and software configurations help students to work on challenging

projects. Machine learning is a foundation technology of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience.The primary aim of Project and Machine Learning lab is to allow the students to design algorithms for computers to learn automatically without human intervention or assistance and adjust actions accordingly. Dr. Sidramappa V. Itti Principal SGBIT asked the students to utilize the project lab to carry out multidisciplinary projects to address real world problems. Dr. Dinesha H. The Computer Science Engineering Department was started in the year 2008 and now conducts one undergraduate program and Ph.D program with affiliation to VTU. The department is striving hard to make the unique spirit of SGBIT, an Institution with a difference by promoting excellence in Teaching, Research and Services covering the fundamentals as well as applied aspects of Computer Science and IT. A total of 11 experienced faculty members, support four core specializations .Being a forerunner in the field of technology, the department envisages evolving as a center of excellence to adapt itself to the rapid advancements in various specialized fields. Computer Science and Engineering continues to be the driving force of the nation's economy in the field of science and technology. In the CSE department, at SGBIT, we are very excited to be part of this information revolution. UG students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary research in various domains our students are placed in various reputed companies like IBM, TCS, Infosys, Robert Bosch, Mind Tree. Geological Study Tour: thGeological Study Tour by 4 semester to

th thAjnata and Ellora caves on 28 and 29 of Feb. 2020. During the tour students were exposed to the various geological features like Deccan volcanic flows, Ropy Lava, Zeolites of deccan basalt, Amaygdoloidal structure and many more. Along with the geological studies students were also exposed to the ancient caring techniques, plastering and painting techniques and there relation to the present civil engineering

practices. During the tour students also visited the Monuments Bibi-ka-makbara, (Deccan Taj Mahal). Prof. Sagar Waghmare, Prof. Sweta Chougule, Prof. Jyoti Patil and Prof. Chandrashekar accompanied the students during the tour.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has started in the year 2008 with an intake of 60 students; later in 2014 the intake is increased to 120 students. In the year 2014 Started M. Tech program in Thermal Power Engineering. Further department received VTU approval in 2017 to start Research Center to fulfill the growing needs of research activities. The Department has faculty strength of 01 Professors, 02 Associate Professor, 18 Assistant Professor and 06 faculty members are pursuing PhD, The Department has “add-on courses” taught by Industry experts. The department is committed to continuously improve the quality of education by enhancing the knowledge of students and staff members by organizing various relevant programs. It has well equipped laboratories having the latest configurations and software tools. Department has an association of students named ARMES (Association of Royal Mechanical Engineering Students) which organizes value added programs in social, moral & technical fields to boost overall development of the students. National Level Seminar on Energy and EnvironmentS.G. Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi in association with Regional Pollution Control Board, Belagavi has organized two day National Level Seminar on

th stEnergy and Environment on 30 and 31 August 2019. The two day program is inaugurated by renowned senior cine actor and environmentalist Shri. Suresh Heblikar. The environment is not be studied as a subject but is to be practiced as a part of life itself. The sustainable development is the responsibility of every individuals of the country. Instead of following the western culture we have to think about the local environment and its effects and opportunities for the development.

This is the only gift we can give to our future generation. The bio diversity of our country and our state is very peculiar and special hence it's our responsibility to retain that specialty. The plantation of variety of the trees and plants is the only way to maintain the wildlife and environment in good condition. The two day program is organized in association the Regional Pollution Control Board, Belagavi. This program will going to have resource persons from Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The seminar comprises the topics on Energy Resources, Energy Management & Auditing, and Pollution: Statutory Requirement, Coastal Environment, Energy Embedded Buildings and Forest Conservation Statutory Norms.

Amarnath, Deputy Conservator of forests in his Chief Guest speech during the valedictory program, he expressed the need to save the environment beging the policy maker of the environment he addressed the challenges faced by him during the program. Er.Jasmail Singh FIE, chairman, IEI Karnataka state centre spoke on the engineer's role in nation building and asked youth to inculcate Gandhian principles. He urged students to involve and be member of Institute of Engineers India and take participation in various activities. He also praised the soil of Belagavi which has produced many great engineers and godly priests. In the valedictory program chief guest Er K S Arunkumar, Asst Vice President SQuAD Forging India Pvt Ltd. He spoke on the various dimensions of TQM and philosophy being one among them. Industries with TQM will have good culture and prosper in business. Parents Meetth The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized virtual parents meet for 4

th th thand 6th semester on 24 June, 2020 and 8 semester students on 25 June 2020. Many parents expressed their views about the online classes and stressed on conduction of physical classes before the examinations. Honorable Principal stressed more on well being of our students during this pandemic situation. And suggested to explore the extra-curricular activities in them and practice yoga daily. Principal, HOD and all the faculty members were present for the virtual parents meet.

Industrial VisitAn Industrial visit was arranged under the banner of AETECH, Department of EEE, to Solar PV Power Plant, Bagmane Green Power LLP, Hirekudi, Chikkodi Taluk,

thBelagavi for 4 semester students of Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department on Saturday, 29th February 2020. Total of 32 students attended the visit. Prof. Shrivatsav Madabal coordinated the visit and Ms. Shruti Kurbar accompanied. HoD and faculties advised the students to gain as much as the technical knowledge and also to take

care of themselves. The Site Engineer Mr. Chetan Hajare, also an alumnus of SGBIT, EEE Department, gave a brief explanation of the solar power plant This was the great opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge. He explained about the site selection, precautionary measures to be taken during the installation. and gave a brief introduction about their site, total number of panels installed, total capacity of the plant and the technology used. Later, his team of engineers explained about the basics of solar panels with specifications and types of connecting PV panels, solar inverter and its protective measures, transformer and how the transformer is connected to the grid. Students interacted with the engineers about the maintenance of solar PV plants and the job opportunities in the solar field. As a token of affection Prof. Shrivatsav Madabal thanked Mr. Chetan Hajare and his team for providing this opportunity.

Entrepreneurship Activities By StudentthMr. Soujanya Patil, 6 semester student, a

budding entrepreneur, developed “Automatic Hand Sanitizer”, during the lockdown period. He sold more than 40 hand santizers to various customers including SGBIT, Belagavi. The customers have expressed satisfaction about performance of the product.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 2008, right from the inception of the institution. With a present intake of 60, the department has well equipped laboratories and is spread over an area of more than 900 square meters. The department has dedicated faculty with one doctorate and three of them pursuing Ph.D. The faculty are actively engaged in career guidance, industry- institute interaction and arranging events such as industrial visits, guest lecturers, workshops, conferences and guiding externally sponsored project on regular basis. The students undergo rigorous training for placement right from the second year and get recruited in core as well as IT companies. The department has received grants for funded students’ projects from KSCST, VGST and VTU etc.

students and faculty members of the department about the need for smart grid and discussed various technical aspects to highlight the pros and cons of smart grid. He also elaborated on how electrical grid can be optimized by adding communication and control capabilities. Ms. Pragati

Workshop on Analog Electronic CircuitThe department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in association with AETECH organized a 3-days workshop on “Analog Electronics Circuits” from 19/10/2019 to 21/10/2019. Prof. Chetan R. Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Udupi, was the resource person. Prof.

Chetan R explained the construction and working of JFET and MOSFET in the topic of Analog Electronics followed by hands-on sessions using Cadence P-spice Software for 2nd year EEE students. Third day was headed by Prof. Shankargouda Patil and Prof. Virupaxi Dalal on Transistor Biasing and introduction of digital circuits respectively. Prof. Manjula Biradar, introduced the resource person. Prof. Sunil S Harakannanavar, coordinated the program. Dr.

Supanna S. Shirguppe, HOD, EEE Dept., and the teaching faculty were present during the event.About KGTTI, HubballiShri. Chandrashekar P. addressed the students of 3rd, 5th and 7th semester students regarding facilities available and the various schemes for providing internship training at KGTTI, Hubballi on 23/10/2019. Students enrolled for the 28 days Internship program. 96 students from the department enrolled for the internship at KGTTI, Hubballi.
