MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF

The basic raw material for manufacturing of pipes is HR Coils. After receiving the raw material in Coil shape these are slitted into various widths according to requirements of Pipe Dia at Slitting machine.

After slitting the slitted coil is loaded on the uncoiler and stored in accumulator to enable the continuous running of the mill while tail end of slit is welded with the leading end of next coil with the help of MIG welding.

The strip is passed through a set of rolls to get the shape and the outer edges of strip are heated by high frequency induction coil. Outside flash of welding is removed with the help of round tool(Scarfing tool)so as to give better finish. The welded tube is again passed through a set of rolls to get the specified tolerances on outside Diameter. Inside flash of weld can also be removed if required by the customer above 75mm outside Diameter. Our product Range is from 10.00mm NB to 200mm NB. After the pipes are made these are cut into the Required lengths with Programming Logistic Controls (PLC).

After cutting the pipes the pipes are sent together to Deburring machine for removal of burr at the end to avoid any injury to the workmen.

PIPES (ROUND & SECTION)

The process of Tube Manufacturing starts with forming of H.R. Steel strips into Tubular shape & welding the edges under pressure using high frequency induction heating.

After removal of Burr each pipe is Hydraulically tested to check the leakage in the pipe.

Various tests according to specifications are carried out at the shop floor itself.

2 After hydraulic testing of pipes at 51kg/cm or as per customer requirement, the pipes are sent for galvanizing process to avoid the rusting on the surface if required by the customer. The pipes are dipped in Hydro Chloric acid to remove the rust from the surface. After cleaning the surface the pipe is washed in running water. After washing the pipe is dipped in flux solution to maintain adherent property of zinc on pipe. The pipes are dipped in a molten zinc Bath at a

otemperature of 450 C to get the proper adherent Coating.

After Galvanizing the pipes are sent for threading wherever it is required. The threading is done on the highly sophisticated machines to have the best threading to avoid any leakage on threads while laying in the use. After threading each pipe is marked with the series paint as required by BIS and bundled for dispatch.

The Process of Tube making initiates with forming of Cold Rolled Steel Strips in tubular shape and subsequently welding the edges under pressure by induction heating. Hot Rolled Strips subjected to Cold Rolling to close tolerances is the basic raw material for the manufacturing of Precision ERW Tubes. These strips are procured from our Odisha plant having latest facilities for production of Hot Rolled / Cold Rolled Steel.

The tube mill has series of forming rolls to shape the Cold Rolled strips progressively in tubular form, followed by edge welding by high frequency induction welding using solid state welder from THERMATOOL USA. The welded tube is cooled to normal temperature by coolant sprays, passing through sizing rolls, straightened and automatically cut off to rquired length by Cold saw flying cutting machine,

The cold saw flying cutting machine, procured from MTM, Italy, has capacity to cut the online tubes within +/- 1.50mm with straight end (90 Degree) and clean cut.

Eddy Current Testing system from FLAWMARK-EC to ensure surface and weld defects free tubes.

Re Cut Cum End facer machines from SOCO, Taiwan for smaller cut lengths with cutting accuracy of +/- 0.5mm.

Wire Brush Machine: To clean tube ends burr's thorougly.

Micro Alloy Tube: Developed special grade high tensile strength tube, which can achieve up to 20% weight/thickness reduction and still making the tube more stronger, in turn saves on cost and weight reduction of the Auto vehicle and there by increasing fuel efficiency.

Internal fin cutting in tube OD 19.05mm and above.

SALIENT FEATURES

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

OF PRECISION TUBESprocured from MTM, Italy, which is designed to clean cut the tubes at a speed of 150mtr./minute. The tubes are tested, oiled, packed and are dispatched to various customers/warehouses located all over India.

To meet the requirement of our customers spread throughout the country, manufacturing units have been established at Odisha, Chandigarh, Bengaluru & Kolkatta. At Present we have the production capacity of 25000 MT/Month being produced by 15 Tube Mills, procured from most reliable tube mill machinery makers like Kusakabe and MTM, Italy with latest technology covering the wide range of OD- 6mm to 127mm & Thickness- 0.25mm to 5.5mm. Further addition of new tube Mills are likely to be commissioned in future covering the entire tube requirement.

PRECISION TUBES

With a commitment to Continual Quality Improvement, we strive for quality in all our actions, to achieve our goal of full customer satisfaction. Use of best quality material from our steel plant, state-of-the-art technology and prescribed quality control tests make it happen.

The tube division is fully equipped with the advanced integrated quality control system to produce tubes matching the national and international standards. The quality control system is backed by an advanced testing laboratory for physical, metallurgical and chemical tests. The laboratary is equipped with:

Spectrometer for determining chemical/ Metallurgical composition.

Universal Testing Machine.

Erichson Testing machine.

Vicker’s Hardness Tester and Rockwell Hardness Tester.

Online Eddy current Tester for weldability defects detection.

Hydraulic Press For Weld Ability Test.

Tube Bending Machine.

Flaring, Flattening Tests.

Each product for customer is manufactured as per customer specifications or IS, DIN, ASTM, BS, JIS Standards.

The cut to length requirements in the range of 40mm to 2000mm are accomplished with SOCO cutting machines procured from Taiwan. With the capability to memorize parameters for both single and multibatch cutting, these machines not only cut in close tolerence of +/- 0.5mm but also ensure end facing of the tube from outside as well as inside. Wire brushing is also available for deburring tubes requiring 90 degree straight cut with further facility to cut desired taper angle too.
