SUMMER ELEGANCE by

Frolic Mills I really hate to admit it, but women in Second Life pay far more attention to fashion details than the average male avatar. I was asked this month to write a little bit about male elegance for the summer months and may I dare ask to please throw your flip flops in the closest garbage can? Oh yes, I will!

Accessorizing is everything to the elegant men, but for some reason it tends to be overlooked in the summer months (not by designers) but by most guys out there, both in the real and the virtual world. It’s as if the college years never quite evolved out of their lives, and they “must” still only wear flip flops, a short and a t-shirt. Fine, I get it, but perhaps you have some other activities after sunset. And it is exactly after 7 pm, when summer trends 2014 get all fun, colorful, floral and fabulous.

I´ve been watching, from the corner of my eye, this year´s Mr. Virtual World candidates and I am praying they drop the past and boring glory of avant garde trends of 2010/11 and start offering up to date and beautiful styling. Wake up and smell the flowers! Hopefully some of the judges out there, in the know, will get it and reward you with the winning points.

I leave you with some styling I created for this article, and some real life trends as well. May they inspire you.Frolic Mills

Dream of a summer afternoonphotos and article by

Calima Dufaux

When I heard your voice, I knew that I was falling asleep. I do not know how long it lasted, but I did not care since it's summer: the afternoon glides smoothly and lazily while the sun caresses my skin at sunset.I hear your breathing slow and rhythmic and I sense behind it the sound of the waves, the salt spray licking the shore of the beach. I do not even want to open my eyes, the dream gets me again.

I dream about these long vacation away from our home and daily routine at work. Today I feel that happiness is in the little things that give us wellness: a small smile, a hug from a dear friend, a walk with my crochet dress covering my still wet swimsuit , my beach hat adorned with starfish and my favorite denim espadrilles. In the afternoon maybe I'll wear long skirts with lace and cotton that remind me of the crazy all night parties in Ibiza, or maybe I'll decide to wear baggy pants of sheer fabrics that don't miss on glamor combined with a leather jacket and my fetish violet shoes that make each of my steps an explosion of color. Your voice brings me back to reality and finally I wake up: I see your beautiful tanned smiling face while your fingers play distractedly with your dark curly hair. You know that I love the ingenuity of your shirt with small pink flowers, your tight pants and those big vintage sunglasses behind which I guess a shy and naughty look. Everything makes sense, everything is perfect. It's the best summer of our lives.....

AUTUMN PREVIEW article and photos by

Genevieve Kamala

I always like to look ahead and have a feel for the future to come, I realize that it may not always be in tune with the official fashion, but it is pleasant to explore the future by ourselves!

I want to start with the end of summer, a fresh and cool outfit by Gizza created by combining pieces coming from different sets, in order to create a unique look.Since I was taking photos on the Seychelles Isles, I decided to remind you of the relief for life campaign that has been so active in the last few months and continue in sl and rl. Even if we go on holiday/vacation, we can still remember to be aware of research and its needs.

Page 23: S E A S O N S Magazine SUMMER ISSUE

Then I looked at what a lady needs in the fall: my choice fell on the skirt and corset called Akeruka by House of Elliot ( jacket is also part of the outfit), it is perfect for those elegant mid afternoon or early evening engagements, the belt and jewels are by D.D.M.

Page 24: S E A S O N S Magazine SUMMER ISSUE

Then I decided to explore a casual chic outfit: a great short silk dress by Faenzo Mirte in a delicate peach color with a fur jacket for the first chilly evenings or early morning, the perfect pumps by Hucci, make it ideal as a dawn to sunset attire.

Page 25: S E A S O N S Magazine SUMMER ISSUE

Last, but certainly not least a beautiful deep brown gown by Romance Couture, I cannot praise it enough, since it is so beautifully made and perfect in all the details, here it is in its perfect romantic setting!

HIDDEN TREASURES λάθε βιώσας

EDY UCCELLINI SCHILLER

by

Antonella Vicini

Epicurus considered friendship the highest good, both materially and spiritually. However friendship can only be cultivated in a small circle, away from the storms of life, therefore the motto: Live in hiding (from the crowd).

Art often hides from the glitter of the media market, the ancient ones recommended to live hidden, if you really wanted to achieve peace of mind and greatness of spirit.

With this issue I want to introduce you to a secluded piece of land where several artists have chosen to live and work, in a way following the ancient motto of Epicurus: living away from the crowd, as the painter that I want to introduce to you today: Edy Uccellini Schiller.Edy has chosen an unusual path to preserve her art and her life from the temptations of fame and glory.

In a series of long conversations we had at her place in the countryside, hidden away from the main road, she told me small morsels of her fascinating life and apprenticeship in art, but perhaps the most important lesson was a simple and clear sentence:I knew who I was, I knew my skills and my limits, perhaps I have not achieved all I could have in my art, but I wanted to do many other things in my life besides painting.

Edy Uccellini Shiller was born in a poor family in the northern region of Lombardia, just south of Milan, close to the river Po', the longest in Italy. Her love for this region is documented especially by one painting of the typical buildings you can find so close to the river, semi hidden by the tall poplar trees that seem to embrace the houses, vacant of people. The entire landscape is animated, vibrant with life and action, even if you cannot see people or animals, the land itself seems to be speaking, beckoning us to enter the painting and walk under the trees, open the doors and finally inhabit the small white dwellings.

This enticement, this subtle invitation to partake of her world is present in all her work, one painting of a simple room with its furnishings gives us a glimpse of order, pleasantness, above all it hints at the simple, yet firm and solid femininity of the artist. Here is a woman who has crossed the 20th century with complete freedom of observation, of movement and thought, not against someone or something, but towards real independence. There seems to be no struggle in her work, just an ease that shines with beauty.

Page 29: S E A S O N S Magazine SUMMER ISSUE

The frequent musical instruments present in her work play harmonious music, so that we can leave behind the noisy chaos of daily life and drink from the pure source of existence. Certainly her intense spiritual life, her involvement with charity, her hands on work after natural disasters such as earthquakes have left their impression on her work that also expresses goodness and a noble heart, such as it is rare to find.

Here are a few of her paintings, just enough to give you and idea of her production:1. Visitazione 1976 (Visitation)2. Processione dei Santi Medici in Bitonto 1975 (Procession for the Medic Saints)3. Terremoto 1977 (Earthquake)4. Spiaggia e mare in Sardegna 1982 (Sea and beach in Sardinia)5. Capanni sul Ticino 1964 (Huts by the Ticino river)6. Tavola Francescana 1964 (Franciscan table)7. Fiori per Rubina 1982 (Flowers for Rubina)

1 The soft colors of the room, the movement in the delicate brush invite us to explore this intimate and cozy room, where elements of nature (the vase with flowers) mix with the harmony created by the sensual sound of the sax. Paintings on the wall seem to tell us that this is indeed the painter's private den, perhaps she listens to music here, while she paints. Since we are invited we can go beyond the second door, where we find another room, where a figure (woman or angel) greets us with upraised hands in a warm welcome gesture. We find rest and relief in such an environment, we are at peace here.

2 As you can see Edy's art is influenced by her spiritual life, as shown in the Procession, of many paintings with a religious motif or background. It seems that the entire village has gathered to celebrate life with candles, flowers and plants, such is the joy that the balloons rise high in the sky celebrating life in the clear blue sky of southern Italy.

3 A violent tremor of the earth is echoed by the thundering of red in the sky, Edy has portrayed the land of Friuli one moment before destruction, when all the villages still had their bell towers and churches, when the house were still standing connected, it seems, but a river of lava red, not the outpouring of an angry volcano, but the deep shaking of the earth beneath our feet. The drama of so many lives is vigorously painted here with great depth of feelings and compassion.

4 Oh, the pleasure of the sea, sitting in the wind that molds the trees and the sand, listening to the song of the sea when it delicately kisses the shore, admiring the beauty of the grasses and flowers, spontaneously growing in this spring vision.

5 What life hides among the trees? We can only imagine it: laborious from dawn to sunset, devoted to the care of the fields and rich in traditional stories. The houses are both hidden and protected by the trees, there are no doors, perhaps they are open to all, or maybe they have been abandoned. With her art Edy has once again taken us to a place without giving us clues, so that we can discover it by ourselves.

6 A simple table welcomes our hunger, food to warm the soul, there is utter simplicity in the way the loving painter/cook has prepared us food for our spirit and for our stomach. Inspired by the monastic order near Assisi where she had spent some time, Edy has given us a view of what the monks and nuns live on: Give us our daily bread.....

Page 30: S E A S O N S Magazine SUMMER ISSUE

7 Edy has often painted still lives, although in her case I prefer to call them inner portraits. This one is very attractive both for the shape of the flowers and the enticing sweets offered on the plate. These offerings are meant to soften our lives, make us all stop and reconsider what are the real values of life.

Her entire work is dedicated to the protection of what is most delicate and precious: our souls.Antonella Vicini

FOOD CORNER by

Shakuntala Merlin

Summer is upon us! What a pleasure to go out in the back garden picking fresh tomatoes with some leaves of fragrant basil! Then you can add a bit of extra virgin olive oil and water buffalo mozzarella and you have the most classic of summer salad the Italian way: Caprese salad.

This issue I want to dedicate my attention to some cold dishes that complement your lunch at the beach, or dinner parties.

From Italy I also want to add the Insalata di riso (rice salad), again a cold dish where only your imagination is the limit. You can make it with fresh vegetables cut in small cubes, or add any preserved ingredients, boiled eggs, pieces of wurst are also appropriate, there is no fixed recipe for this feast for the palate.

Page 40: S E A S O N S Magazine SUMMER ISSUE

Then I turn to the rest of the Mediterranean area, where some magical dips will give you exotic flavors and pleasure to the taste buds:First we look at Hummus, a dish originally from the Middle East, but now common in many countries, it is basically crushed and smoothed chick peas, but each cook has a secret recipe, just remember good olive oil and many ingredients for your hummus dip, as well as pita bread.

Page 41: S E A S O N S Magazine SUMMER ISSUE

The second dip is Tzatziki, from Greece, a dip made with fresh Greek yogurt and cucumber, originally meant to soothe your palate with a chilly hot dish, but extremely pleasant and tasty on its own as well.

As you can see all these dishes are easy to prepare and make good use of the season vegetables.Last and certainly not least I want to give you a recipe for a special dish that you can prepare in advance and will wow your friends, it looks beautiful and can be made in different shapes.

Pollo in Gelatina= Chicken aspic:

Cook the chicken in a broth with onion, carrots, celery. When it is cooked take off the skin and the bones, cut the chicken in small pieces. Take a bowl, round or square according to your preference, create a pattern with capers, olives, cucumbers on the bottom of the bowl, but remember that it will be seen upside down! If you like and can eat pork meat, at this point you can cover your decoration with sliced thin cooked ham. Otherwise you can start adding the small pieces of chicken. At this point your bowl is almost full, now you have to add gelatin, possibly with flavor Marsala wine. When the gelatin is warm you can slowly pour it in the bowl, making sure that your decorations do not move. Leave overnight in the fridge, before serving turn upside down on a bigger plate and serve.
